이 논문에서 소개하는 질적 사례 연구는 문학과 예술적인 소양을 가졌던 연구참여자가 중등학교 시절부터 기독교 신앙생활을 하면서 활성화되었던 인문 예술적 소양이 점차 이공계 분야에서 발현되는 과정을 보여준다. IT 분야에서 일하는 한 명의 연구참여자(현웅)을 대상으로 초상화법에 따라 심층면담을 4회 실시하였으며 인물 사례 형태로 묘사하였다. 현웅의 삶에서 두드러지게 나타나는 부분은 가족관계의 정체성과 관련하여 그가 운명적으로 만나게 된 기독교 신앙이다. 두 차례의 이정표적인 신앙 체험을 통하여 그의 인문예술적 소양은 고등학교와 대학교 시절에 활짝 꽃을 피웠다. 기독교적인 메시지를 통하여 삶의 새로운 전환점을 맞이하게 되었으며 그 이후에 그가 가졌던 섬세하고 감성적인 글쓰기 소양이 논리적인 컴퓨터 프로그래밍 작업과 결합되었다. 이 인문 사례는 인문예술적 소양이 이공계적 전문성과 결합되는 통합적인 측면과 현웅의 내적 소양이 고차적 양상과 연결되고 있음을 보여준다.

This paper describes a life story of a young engineer who got involved with engineering major instead of human-artistic field after encountering Christ during his high school days. The in-depth interview was conducted with 1 participant (Hyunwoong) four times and described based on portraiture. Being interested with reading books and singing songs, he could naturally unfold his faculties participating church activities. On the other hand, he found himself interested in computer programming with which he could freely and creatively implement whichever ideas he got from his own inspiration. These two different experiences became merged and developed further. This paper deals with unified aspects of inner faculties that are integrated with creative computer programming work. The case illustrates the participant's inner strivings and religious life with his major spiritual awakenings that are related higher aspects.
