우리나라는 이미 지난 2006년 다문화 사회를 선포하고 여러 가지 다문화 정책을 추진해 오고 있다. 다문화 사회는 인적 구성의 다양성만을 의미하는 것이 아닌 문화적 다양성을 존중하는 사회로, 다문화 사회에서 다양한 국적과 문화적 배경을 가진 사람들이 조화롭게 공존하기 위해서는 먼저 우리 사회의 주류인 일반 국민이 자기 자신과 자국 문화에 대한 확고한 정체감을 갖고 서로 다른 문화를 인정하고 타인에 대한 편견 없는 이해와 존중의 마음을 가져야 한다. 이에 본 연구는 <다문화 어울림교육 프로그램>을 통해 학생들에게 나+한국인+세계인의 올바른 문화정체성을 기르는데 목적으로 실시되었다. 자기탐색 프로그램 실시 후 학습자들의 올바른 자아정체성이 형성되었으며 긍정적인 자아존중감이 증진되었다. 또 우리문화 알기 프로그램을 통해 우리문화 정체성과 자긍심이 형성되었으며 다문화 알기 프로그램을 통해 인종․국적에 상관없이 모든 사람을 존중해야 하는 인권존중 의식과 다양한 문화를 인정하고 존중하는 올바른 다문화 정체성이 형성되었다.

Korea is a multiracial and multi-cultural society. It is a country that is deeply rooted by blood. As Koreans, we are one people. Moreover, the country proclaimed that it is a multi-cultural society in 2006, and it is promoting a multi-cultural policy. The multi-cultural society does not mean just the diversity of people. It means we have to respect the cultural diversity of others. Korea has had results in resolving various cultural diversity issues. However, the multi-cultural society may be the reason of social conflict without appropriate preparation. There is a need for multi-cultural education in order to aim in creating a harmonious society between the Korean identity and other cultures. We should aim to understand and accept diverse cultures. To start, people should acknowledge different cultures, understand and respect others without prejudice and stereotypes. In addition, people should have an identity (of their own) and culture of their own while keeping respect for others. This study is regarding my identity, the identity of my fellow Koreans, and people around the world. I hope to accomplish this through a multi-cultural education program for students. This study is found that the learners' identity has been accomplished and their positive self esteem is increased through a self exploration program for students. Moreover, students can create their pride about culture of their own through multi-cultural education program. Finally, We also found that we have to respect people regardless of diverse race and nationality and to accept diverse cultures.
