‘White Farm’은 전라북도농업기술원에서 2010년 육성 한 안개초 절화용 신품종으로 밝은 백색이며 분지각이작은 특성을 가진다. 2006년 밝은 백색의 소화가 큰‘Gyp06-28’의 방임수분 결과 63개 종자를 채종하였고,2007년 파종하여 획득한 44개 실생계통을 특성평가한 결과 분지각이 작은 밝은 백색의 ‘Gyp08-55’을 선발하여2년 동안 특성검정을 통해 ‘White Farm’을 육성하였다.‘White Farm’의 초형은 직립형이고 잎 모양은 피침형, 소화는 밝은 백색 겹꽃으로 꽃잎은 주걱형, 꽃잎 끝 모양은 약간 둥근형, 꽃받침 모양은 종형인 식물체 고유특성을 가진다. 또한 분지각이 작고 흰가루병에 강하고 충해에도 강한 편이다. 자연개화기 절화 작형에서 ‘WhiteFarm’ 개화는 ‘Bristol Fairy’보다 16일 늦고 절간장과 화경장이 길었으며, 측지 분화가 많았으며, 야간기온 22℃,7일 이상의 고온 조건에서도 기형화 발생이 없어 고온적응성이 높아 연중 안정적인 절화 생산이 가능하다. 소화수가 많고 밝은 백색으로 시장성이 우수하며, 2013년2월 국립종자원에 신품종으로 등록(품종번호: 제4361호)되었다.
‘White Farm’, a Gypsophila paniculata cultivarwith bright white colored petal and narrow branching anglefor cut flower production was newly developed byJeollabuk-do Agricultural Research and Extension Servicein 2011. In 2006, 63 seeds were gained from openpollination of ‘Gyp06-28’ which had the characteristics withwide floret width and bright white color, then 44 seedlingswere collected next year. This hybrid was selected throughfield trial from 2009 to 2011. It has novel morphologicalcharacteristics of the upright plant type, lanceolate leaf,double florets of bright white colored petals with spatulateshape, truncate petal tip, and campanulate shaped calyx.Also the ‘White Farm’ has several traits such as narrowbranching angle, moderate resistance against powderymildew, and pest. Moreover it produces more primarybranches, and longer internode length and flower stalklength than reference cultivar ‘Bristol Fairy’ during summercultivation period in subalpine area (500m over the sealevel). The ‘White Farm’ is delayed flowering cultivar forabout 16 days as compared to ‘Bristol Fairy’. The ‘WhiteFarm’ produces high quality flowers with a very lowfrequency of floret malformation in hot summer seasonunder plastic greenhouse conditions. Therefore, thiscultivar has stable flower production for year-roundproduction without flower malformation. Marketability of thiscultivar was highly investigated owing to differentiatingmany florets with bright white colored petals, and thenfinally the ‘White Farm’ was registered to Korea Seedand Variety Services (KSVS) for new plant protectionrights in 2013.
