본 연구는 중학교 기술·가정 교과서 22종을 대상으로 제7학년과 제9학년에 나오는 식물의 종류, 출현빈도 그리고 학습내용을 직업선택과 주거생활과 관련하여 분석하였다. 미래의 기술 대단원에 나오는 식물은 채소류와 화훼류뿐이었다. 채소류는 27종에서 166회 출현하였으며, 화훼류는 42종에서 68회 출현하였다. 채소류는 토마토, 무, 배추가, 화훼류는 국화, 튤립, 선인장이 가장 많이 언급되었다. 원예산업과 관련성이 있는 직업으로 한국표준직업분류에는 33개의 직종이 소개되어 있으나 산업과 진로 대단원에서는 6개의 직종만 소개되어 있었다. 기술․가정 교과서에는 표준직업 분류에 따라 원예산업과 관련성이 높은 33개의 직종은 물론이고 12개의 새로운 직종을 첨가하는 것이 바람직하다. 가족생활과 주거 대단원에서는 식물에 의한 실내환경의 개선 효과를 소개하고, 중학생들이 식물을 가까이 할 수 있도록 유도해야 한다. 즉 원예식물 특히 화훼류의 다양한 기능과 역할을 기술·가정교과의 교육목표와 결부시켜 첨가함으로써 학생들의 인성교육과 정서함양에 도움이 되도록 하는 것은 물론이고, 실내의 환경개선에도 도움이 되도록 하여야 할 것이다. 또한, 미래의 유망 직종 가운데 하나인 화훼장식 분야에 대해서도 직업 선택의 확대라는 관점에서 심도 있게 검토되어야 할 것이다.

This study was to analyze learning contents related to job choice and housing life in textbooks of technology and home management for 7th grade and 9th grade of middle school. Species of plants appeared in chapter of the technology of future were solely vegetables and ornamental plants. The frequency of appearance was 166 times in 27 kinds for vegetables and 68 times in 42 kinds for ornamental plants. The most frequently mentioned species of vegetables were tomato, radish, and Korean cabbage and those of flowers were chrysanthemum, tulip, and cactus. Occupation associated with horticultural industry introduced to 33 kinds on classification of Korean standard occupations, but in chapter of the industry and course described solely 6 kinds. It is considered to be desirable to add 33 kinds of occupations related to horticultural industry based on classification of Korean standard occupations and 12 kinds of new occupations. The effect of ornamental plants on improvement of indoor environment should be introduced and contents of textbook should be required to have interest on plants in chapter of the family life and living. In particular, there is a need for addition of various functions and roles of ornamental plants related to the aim of education connected with personality and cultivation of emotion as well as improvement of indoor environment. Moreover, floral design should be extensively examined in the aspect of extended selection of occupation.
