覺齋 權參鉉은, 평생을 宜寧에서 초야에 묻혀 학자로서 일생을 보냈다. 선조인 霜嵒의 志節을 물려받고, 어린 나이에 淵齋 宋秉璿의 문하에서 수학하여 栗谷, 尤庵의 학통을 계승한 학자였다.
그는 격변하는 시대조류 속에서 전통 儒學者의 자세를 견지하며 道學의 연구와 보전에 힘썼고, 제자 교육에 誠力을 다했다. 그리고 평생 많은 漢詩文을 저술하여 자신의 감정과 사상을 표현하여 남겼다. 신학문의 보급과 확대 속에서 유학의 보전과 전승에 힘을 다 쏟았지만, 이미 유학은 시대의 主潮가 아니라 국가나 대중으로부터 관심 밖으로 말려나는 상황이었으므로, 시대와 인심은 그의 뜻과 점점 멀어져 갔다.
그러나 그는 끝까지 좌절하기 않고 최후의 일각까지도 자신의 召命이 무엇인지를 자각하고 바른 길을 추구하려고 최선을 다했다. 수준 높은 저술과 많은 제자들을 길러 전통유학자로서 마지막 세대를 의미 있게 보냈다. 새로운 문명을 거부한 고루한 儒學者로 볼 것이 아니라, 도리어 이 점을 높이 평가해야 할 것이다.

Confucian Kakjae Kwonsamhyeon had be born in Uiryeong-gun, and had buried in the countryside, spent his life as a scholar. He had inherited incision from Sangam, his famous ancestors and studied at the private school of Songbungsun at a young age, by this he could succeed the school of Yulgok and Wooam.
He had lived in current of cataclysmic era and maintained a posture of a traditional Confucian scholar in research and conservation of the ethical outlook, and poured his energy into mental education to his disciples.
He have written many poetry and prose in Chinese in his lifetime to express his feelings and thoughts.
Living in dissemination and expansion of force of the new styled academy, though he have poured his energy, it was very difficult to achieve his goal, because traditional study was not the contemporary mainstream.
But he did his best to attempt to pursue the right way, and awareness of heir mission without frustration even the tip of the last. He had be raised as a traditional Confucian and had meaningfully spent the last generation Confucian, by writing high level works and cultivating many disciples.
This point, we rather will not consider him as antiquated Confucian scholar who refused new civilization , but will need to evaluated him raise.
