만물은 一氣로 이루어져 있으며, 이 一氣는 생성․변화․발전하는 특징을 가지고 있다. 氣化는 생명의 세계이다. 이 생명의 세계는 모 두 一氣 속에서 流動한다. 특히, 書畵속의 一氣의 生動美는 생명정신 의 추구이자, 음악적 리듬으로 충만한 氣化의 세계이다. 서예가는 一 氣一筆로써 大千世界를 삼키기도 하고, 또한 토해내기도 한다. 서예작품 속에 나타난 墨氣는 生動美가 순환․왕복한 것으로, 점․ 획들은 서로 연계되어 있다. 특히, 서예는 氣脈을 중시하는데, 그 氣 脈은 예술의 魂이며, 활기찬 한 줄기 생명의 흐름이다. 서예가는 여 백 속에 숨어 있는 생명을 筆勢로서 形迹化한다. 이러한 氣化이론은 서예의 생명이론에 커다란 영향을 주었다. 따라서 서예는 이 영향을 받아서 단지 하나의 기술을 표현한 것이 아니라, 生命化 과정을 표현 하는 것이다. 무한한 우주속의 一氣는 一筆書, 一筆畵로서 서예작품 속에 그대 로 표현하면서, 획과 획을 이어주는 生動性을 가진다. 서예의 生命은 一氣가 작품 속에 그대로 반영되면서, 그 표현방법은 一筆이고, 드러 난 자취는 바로 一線이 된다. 이처럼 書藝家가 표현한 筆線은 시각적 아름다움만이 아닌, 무한한 생명을 잉태한 ‘眞美’이다. 본 논문은 서예의 ‘一筆揮之’를 통하여, 氣의 세계가 生命化 과 정을 거치면서, 生動美로 轉化된다는 것을 고찰한 글이다.

The world is composed of one-Qi (spirit, energy) and it has features to create, change and improve. Unity with Qi is the world of life. This world moves and flows in one-Qi. The beauty of vitality of one-Qi in calligraphy and painting seeks the spirit of life. It dwells in the world filled with rhythmical unity with Qi. With one-Qi and writing-with-one-stroke, calligrapher can hold and also release the whole world. Spirit and energy in works of calligraphy are circular movement of the beauty of vitality, and dots and strokes (lines) in calligraphy are connected with one another. Especially, the stream of Qi is an essential part of calligraphy, and also soul of art flowing freely throughout life. By using the energy of one-stroke, calligrapher finds life hidden in the blank space and it is revealed as various forms and traces. This theory on unity with Qi contributed much to the theory on life of calligraphy. When calligraphy is influenced by the theories, it can express the process of unity with life, not just a technique. Expressed on works of calligraphy entirely, one-Qi as one-stroke in infinite universe obtains vitality that connects dots and strokes (lines). The essence of calligraphy is to reflect one-Qi on works of calligraphy as it is. One-stroke as a way of expression and one-line as trace revealed are requested in order to do this. Stroke and line expressed by calligrapher are visual beauty and also true beauty conceiving infinite life. This paper is about this discussion：passing over the process of unity with life, the world of Qi is transformed into the beauty of vitality through writing-with-one-stroke in calligraphy.
