이 논문은 융합사회의 도래라는 사회변동에 대한 종교, 특히 불교 의 대응 방향을 포교 체계의 관점에서 검토하고 있다. 이 논문의 구 체적 내용은 융합사회의 특성, 융합사회와 불교의 만남, 한국 사회의 종교 및 불교가 당면하고 있는 문제, 융합사회에 대한 불교의 대응 방향 등이다.
융합사회는 이질적 요소들의 수렴, 혼합, 변형, 분화 등을 통한 재 구성이나 창발적 출현을 기본적 속성으로 하고 있고, 사회 전반에 걸 친 유연화 현상을 추동하고 있다. 이에 따라 정합성의 원리, 조화의 원리, 융합적 소통합리성 등을 중심으로 새로운 사회질서를 구축해 야 하는 과제를 안게 되었다. 또한 현대 한국 사회의 종교 및 불교는 성장 지상주의, 기복성, 종교인구의 중산층화, 종교간 갈등 심화, 종 교에 대한 불신 등의 문제를 안고 있다. 이 문제점들은 융합사회의 특성과 합치될 수 없기 때문에, 융합사회라는 새로운 사회발전의 단 계에서 종교와 불교가 발전하기 위해서 반드시 해결해야만 한다.
결국 융합사회라는 새로운 사회발전 단계에 상응하는 포교 체계의 재구성이 필요하다. 이를 위한 지향점을 제시하면 다음과 같다. 첫 째, 포교 주체의 비판적 성찰과 자기 혁신이 필요하다. 둘째, 콘텐츠 차원에서 융합사회에서 강조되는 개방성, 다양성, 호혜, 협력, 공존 등을 뒷받침할 수 있는 교리적 재해석과 수행 프로그램의 개발이 필 요하다. 셋째, 융합사회의 포교 환경에 부합하는 제도 개선과 포교 매체의 효율적 구축 및 활용방안도 모색해야 한다.

This paper has reviewed the corresponding directions of religion, especially Buddhism for the advent of convergence society in terms of missionary system. The specific contents of this paper are the characteristics of convergence society, meeting of convergence society and Buddhism, the challenge of religion and Buddhism in Korea, the corresponding direction of Korean Buddhism for the convergence society.
Basic properties of the Convergence society is reconstruction through converging, blending, transformation, differentiation of heterogeneous elements or emergent appearance. This phenomenon leads to flexibility throughout the society. As a result, it became a challenge to build a new social order in which the principles of integrity and harmony, convergent communicational rationality as the core.
Missionary takes place within the framework of society. So it is necessary to reconfigure the missionary system corresponding to a new stage of social development, convergence society. In this regard, the following are discussed: excavation of the logic and ethics of social integration which can lead to the harmonization and coordination of heterogeneous elements; seeking ways to overcome the confusion and identity crisis that may be caused by convergence identities; missionary contents development that can solve the problem of convergence society and contribute to establishing a social order; Construction of Missionary media and networks to ensure convergent communicational rationality; missionary subjects with communicational capabilities based on the convergent communicational rationality.
Korean religion and Buddhism is facing the following problems: The growth of religious supremacy, selfish gibok(asking for this-worldly benefits from God), middle-class stratificationizing of religious population and alienation of the socially disadvantaged in religious community, deepening of inter-religious conflict, an increase in distrust of religion, recognition of the Korean Buddhism away from the life of people and social reality. These problems have limitations which can not be consistent with the properties of the convergence society. Therefore, for the development of the Korean Buddhism and religion in convergence society it must necessarily solve these challenges.
Corresponding direction for solving the problem in terms of missionary system are as follows. There are basically asking the critical reflection and self innovations of missionary subject. The doctrinal interpretation and development of Buddhist fulfillment programs that can be to support the main characteristics and virtues emphasized in convergence society (for example, openness, diversity, mutual benefit, cooperation, coexistence, etc.) is required. It can not be overlooked is the challenge to seek an institutional improvement plan that meets the missionary environment of the convergence society. Also study how to efficiently build and utilize the Missionary media in this process will be critical.
