본 연구는 여성 마약사범 7명을 대상으로 현상학적 연구방법을 사용하여 여성 마약사범의 경험의 의미와 본질을 탐색하였다. 자료분석은 Giorgi의 방법으로 30개의 하위구성요소들을 도출하였으며 최종적으로 8개의 구성요소들이 도출되었다. 8개의 구성요소는 ‘다양한 경로로 낯선 약물의 세계가 열리다’, ‘낯선 약물이 친숙한 약물로 바뀌다’, ‘부당함과 붕괴’, ‘생활세계가 단절되다’, ‘생활세계가 와해되다’, ‘약물세계가 아닌 새로운 세계를 향해 노력하다’, ‘다른 중독행동과 마주하다’, ‘일 선택에 여지가 없고 의존적이고 무능해지다’ 이었다. 연구 참여자들은 약물세계라는 낯선 환경에 익숙해지면서 약물이 탐하게 되는 대상으로 바뀌고 있었고, 체포 및 수사과정에서의 부당함, 생활세계가 단절되는 경험을 하고 있었다. 그럼에도 불구하고 열린 마음으로 자신을 반성하고 다른 생활세계와의 교섭을 위해 노력하고 있었다. 위기와 새로운 목표라는 양방향의 갈림길에서 여성 마약사범들이 고위험상황을 적극적으로 대처할 수 있도록 교정사회복지의 실천적ㆍ정책적 개입 방안을 제언하였다.

This study aims to fully understand the experience of female drug offenders in Korea by exploring the meaning and essence of their experience of female drug offenders. For this study, we conducted in-depth interviews with 7 female drug offenders, and applied Giorgi’s phenomenological research method to analyze the data obtained from the in-depth interviews. As a result, 30 categories were extracted from 8 themes which resulted from the data analysis. I then derived 30 sub-constituents and 8 constituents from those meaning units which were described by a disciplinary expressions. There was a little experiential variation among the subjects in each meaning unit. The constituents as a result of analysis are: ‘Various routes open to the strange world of drugs’, ‘Strange drugs becoming familiar drugs’, ‘Injustice and collapse’, ‘Be disconnected from the real-life world’, ‘The downfall of the real-life world', 'Working towards a new world away from the drug world', 'Be confronted with the Addictive behaviors', 'Become dependent and disabled without the chance of choosing works'. Nevertheless, with an open mind they reflected on their lives and were trying to negotiate with the real-life world. Practical and political intervention plans by correction and social welfare policy are suggested for female drug offenders to be able to cope with the situation at the crossroads of crises and new life purposes.
