「법화경」 불난 집의 비유에서는 탐ㆍ진ㆍ치로 인해 삼계에서 고통의 나날을 보내고 있는 모습을 묘사하고 있다. 이 고통은 현실의 상황을 도피하고싶은 심리적 방어 기제가 쾌락이나 유희로 나타난 것이다. 중생들은 상황을 극복할 수 있는 진리를 알 수 없기에 불안을 지니고 괴롭게 사는 것이다. 이러한 중생들의 고통은 아동이 부모와의 애착관계에서 동일시하고 싶어 하는 심리작용과 상통하는 것이다. 그래서 중생을 아동으로 보고 부처님을 훌 륭한 부모와 동일하게 이해할 수 있는 아동의 심리작용으로 파악한 것이다.
아동은 부모와의 동일시를 통해 안정된 정서를 형성해 독립적이고 자율적인 자아로 성장하게 된다. 부모와 동일체에서 분리되어 가는 과정 중에 환경적 요인인 부모의 반응에 따라 아동의 성장은 다른 양상으로 드러난다. 즉, 부모의 관심과 애정은 불안을 극복하고 독립된 자아로 성장시킬 수도 있지만, 분리 과정에서 부모의 무반응은 아동을 퇴행시킴으로 내적 성장이 어렵게 됨을 알 수 있다.
부모의 반응정도에 따라 만들어진 불안은 외부의 대상을 상징화시켜 원시적인 심리투사를 통해 일정한 대상에 집착하게 한다. 이 투사가 미분화되면 부정적인 면을 갖게 되고, 분화를 이루지 못했지만 의식을 통해 창조적이고 긍정적인 면을 이룬다. 창조적이고 긍정적인 것은 무의식과 의식의 대극 합일을 이루는 자기실현이다. 자기실현은 아동이 불안을 통해 정신적 경험을 함으로 두려움이라는 괴로움을 이겨내는 과정이자 결과이다. 아동이 불안을 이겨낼 수 있는 조건은 부모의 안정된 애착 형성을 만들어 주는 조건들이라고 하겠다. 부모의 안정된 애착형성은 아동의 정신적 육체적 안녕을 지켜줌으로써 자기 스스로가 불안을 극복하는 기회를 만들어 주어 자기의 이상과 자기실현을 도와준다는 것이다. 아동의 자기실현은 부모와 아동의 상호 작용에 의해서 이루어지며, 이 작용에는 기질의 유전이나 경험에 의해 결정되고 환경적 요인에 따라 달라진다는 점에서 불난 집의 비유와 상통점이 있다.

Regarding the metaphor of the house on fire in 'The Sutra of the Lotus', it portrays the appearance of spending the days in pain in the three worlds due to the Three Fires. Regarding this pain, the psychological defense mechanism of wanting to escape from the situation of the reality appears as a pleasure or a play. Because they cannot know the truths for overcoming the situations, the people live agonizingly while possessing the insecurity. Such a pain of the people has the psychological action of the children wanting to identify in the attachment relationships with the parents in common. So, the people had been seen as the children and the Buddha had been understood as the psychological actions of the children for understanding in the same way as the excellent parents.
Through the identifications with the parents, by forming the stable emotions, the children get around to growing into the independent and autonomous ego. During the process of being separated from the same body with the parents, according to the reactions of the parents, which are the environmental factors, the growths of the children get revealed as the other aspects. Or, in other words, although the interest and the affection of the parents can make the children overcome the insecurity and make them grow into the independent egos, the non-reaction by the parents in the process of the separation can make the internal growth difficult by regressing the children.
By symbolizing the objects outside, the insecurity that has been made according to the extent of the reactions by the parents make the children become obsessed with a certain object through the primeval,
