본 연구는 중년여성을 대상으로 12주간 댄스스포츠 프로그램을 적용하여 신체조성 및 신체적 자아개념에 미치는 영향을 규명하기 위하여 수행하였으며, 이를 위해 정상집단과 비만집단을 대상으로 신체조성(체중, 체질량 지수, 허리둘레, 최고혈압, 최저혈압)및 신체적 자아개념(스포츠 유능감, 체지방, 외모, 신체활동, 건강, 자기 존중감, 유연성, 지구력, 근력, 신체전반)을 알아보기 위하여, 집단 간과 시행 간의 상호작용 효과를 알아보기 위해서 이원혼합분산분석(two-way mixed ANOVA)을 실시하였다. 그 결과 다음과 같은 결론을 얻었다. 첫째, 신체조성 변인 중 체중, 체질량 지수와 허리둘레에서 정상집단과 비만집단 간의 차이를 보여주었으며, 둘째, 신체적 자아개념 변인 중에서는 외모, 지구력, 근력 그리고 신체전반에서 상호작용효과가 있었으며, 스포츠 유능감, 신체활동 그리고 자기존중감에서 실험전과 후 긍정적인 댄스스포츠 프로그램에 대한 긍정적 신체적 자아개념의 긍정적 변화양상을 보여주었다.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of dance sports programs on physical profile(weight, waist, body mass index: bmi, high blood pressure, low blood pressure), and self-concept(sports confidence, external feature, body fat, flexibility, muscular strength, stamina, self-esteem, health, physical activity) among obese middle aged women.
Fifty two middle aged women were divided into two groups, the normal group(n=26), and the obese group(n=26). The experimental procedure was composed of the pre-test, the experimental treatment of experiment, and the post-test with an inclusive dance sports program being implemented 3 days per weeks, for 12 weeks.
Data were analyzed using the two-way mixed ANOVA. The 5% level of significant was used as the critical level.
The analysis revealed following conclusions. First, after the inclusive dance sports program, there were significant main effects between groups and treatment in physical profile(weight, waist and BMI), However, there was no significant interaction.
Secondly, after the inclusive dance sports program, the self concept(external feature, stamina, muscular strength, general physical factors) showed were significant interaction effect between groups and treatment. Body fat was significant main effect between normal group and obese group. Sports confidence, physical activity, and self-esteem were significant main effect between treatments.
As a result, this study showed that 12 week inclusive dance sports program for the obese middle aged women increased the affirmative physical profile and the self-concept. So it could be considered as an effective way for the obesity treatment and increase the quality of life among obese middle aged women.
