근대 국민국가의 성장은 원료공급과 시장개척을 위해 세력확장으로 나아가게 하였다. 그런 상황 속에서 앞선 공업국가와 후발 공업국가 간에는 원료공급과 시장개척을 위한 경쟁이 불가피하였다. 제2차 세계대전은 세계적인 경제공황으로 세계경제가 붕괴되는 상황에서 경제위기를 극복하기 위하여 자본주의체제가 성숙하지 못했던 독일, 일본, 이탈리아에 의해서 발발하였다. 본 연구는 제2차 세계대전의 전후처리과정에서 독일이 분할점령이 되었는데, 이에 독일분단의 기원에 대한 논의는 그 당시 전개되었던 국제회담을 통해 분석하였다. 독일의 분단은 강한 독일이 주는 위협요인을 해소하고자 소련에 의해 처음 제기되었으나 제2차 세계대전의 전후처리를 위한 얄타회담 전후인 테헤란회담, 포츠담회담을 통해 확정되었다. 독일분단의 원인은 강한 독일에 대한 위협요인을 제거하려는 연합국들의 정치적 의도에서 비롯되었으나, 전후처리과정에서 강대국들의 패권안정화가 더욱 크게 작용하였다고 할 수 있다.

The growth of modern nation-state has led to the expansion of power to supply raw materials and develop markets. Under such circumstances, competition for supply of raw materials and market development was inevitable between the advanced industrial countries and the later industrial countries. World War II was initiated by Germany, Japan, and Italy, whose capitalist system had not matured in order to overcome the economic crisis in a situation where the world economy collapsed due to the global economic crisis. his study was divided into Germany during the post-World War II process, and discussions on the origins of the German division were analyzed through international conferences at that time. The division of Germany was first raised by the Soviet Union in an effort to solve the threat of strong Germany, but was confirmed through the Tehran and Potsdam conference before and after the Yalta conference for the post-war treatment of World War II. The cause of the German division was the political intention of the Allied Powers to eliminate the strong threat to Germany, but it can be said that the stabilization of the hegemony of the great powers in the post-war process was more important.
