최근 박물관에서는 연극을 활용한 교육을 지향하는 이른바 뮤지엄 시 어터가 주목받고 있다. 이에 본 연구는 뮤지엄 시어터(Museum Theatre) 를 관람한 관람객의 경험을 분석해 보고자 하였다. 이를 위해 지오르기 (Giorgi)의 현상학적 연구 방법을 선택하고, 중국 고궁박물관의 뮤지엄 시어터 ‘녹단(甪端)’을 관람한 경험이 있는 10명의 관객을 대상으로 심층 인터뷰를 실시하였다. 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 관객들이 지식, 정 보 습득을 위해 뮤지엄 시어터를 관람하면서 예술과 문화적 소양을 향상 할 수 있고 역사 이야기에 대한 더 깊이 이해할 수 있으며 문화재와 박 물관에 대한 지식을 확장할 수 있음을 확인하였다. 둘째, 뮤지엄 시어터 는 박물관의 유물과 관련된 역사 장면의 몰입감을 촉진하고, 관객의 참 여 열정을 불러일으키며 관람객들이 박물관에 관심을 갖도록 자극제 역 할을 한다. 마지막으로 뮤지엄 시어터는 첨단기술이나 시각 효과 등 흥 미 요소를 통해 관객들에 적극적인 관람 경험을 제공하며 일반적인 박물 관 교육보다 더 다양하고 효율적이라는 것을 알 수 있다. 이에 본 연구 는 뮤지엄 시어터가 박물관 교육의 일환으로서 지식 확장 및 예술·문화 적 소양 향상의 가능성을 실증적으로 제시하였다는 점에서 의의를 갖는 다. 이는 박물관 교육의 콘텐츠 개발 방향에 시사점을 제공한다.
This study aimed to analyze the experiences of audiences who have attended Museum Theatre. To achieve this, Giorgi’s phenomenological research method was employed, and in-depth interviews were conducted with ten individuals who had attended <Lu Duan>, a Museum Theatre at the Palace Museum in China. The findings of the study are as follows. First, it was found that by attending Museum Theatre to acquire knowledge and information, audiences were able to enhance their artistic and cultural literacy, and expand their knowledge of cultural heritage and museums. Second, Museum Theatre promotes immersion in historical scenes related to artifacts, stimulates audience engagement, and fostering interest in museums. Lastly, Museum Theatre provides audiences with an engaging viewing experience through the use of advanced technology and visual effects, and more diverse and effective than traditional forms of museum education. This study is significant in that it demonstrates the potential of museum theatre as a part of museum education to expand knowledge and enhance artistic and cultural literacy. It offers practical implications for the future direction of content development in museum education.
