A new cultivar of castor aralia (Kalopanax septemlobus Koidz) was developed via pure line selection at Korea Forest Research Institute. Among 200 plants, one clone was selected as it had improved characteristics for cultivation in 2002. Tested major characters were thorn appearance, size of lateral bud, the number of lateral bud, size of leaf and strength of shoot tissue. In 2006, the first Korean cultivar of castro aralia, Cheongsan was finally selected based on the performance of those characters for three years and registered the denomination of a new variety and certificated for variety production and merchandising in 2007. The new castor aralia cultivar, Cheongsan showed higher values for the most tested characters than control trees. Leaf length, leaf width and diameter of the bud base of Cheongsan were 17.22, 13.68 and 1.09 cm, respectively. Cheongsan also had higher number of shoots because it had twice as many lateral buds than control trees. Especially, Cheongsan has fewer thorns than control trees and its petiole color is light green. In addition, Cheongsan has shoot tissue which is advantageous in the use of shoot for a specialty vegetable.

As the era of ubiquitous has come, it is able to have more convenient and efficient operation system since many efforts have devoted to developing an appropriate operation system in the ubiquitous environment and applying RFID/USN technology to various parts in the industry. Also, the port logistics area has considered RFID/USN to develop more efficient port logistics environment and improve their efficiency. Therefore, this study investigates current trends of RFID technology and application cases in the port logistics area since RFID stands in the important position of changes of maritime port environment. This study tries to find possible areas for applying RFID technology and analyze expected effects when RFID is adopted those areas. Lastly, the priority level among the possible RFID application fields in the container terminal has been evaluated by experts' survey.

A new kidney bean cultivar, “Noghyeob 1” was developed at the Yeongnam Agricultural Research Institute (YARI) in 2005. “Noghyeob 1” was selected from a cross between KLG50074 and KLG50063. It has determinate growth habit, white flower, green pod color, oval shape of crossed section of pod at the harvesting time for edible pod, white seed coat and middle seed size (21.1 grams per 100 seeds). The average yield of edible pod of “Noghyeob 1” was 24.25 M/T per hectare in the yield trials which were carried out at the green house in spring and autumn in 2005. It was 7 percent higher than that of the check cultivar “Kangnangkong 1”.
