        Bt gene derived from the B. thuringiensis has been used for developing GM crops, and corn, cotton and soybean producing B. thuringiensis toxins have been on the market for last 17 years or so creating a huge GM seed industry. One of the notorious pests in brassica crops is diamondback moth (DBM). In order to protect the insect plague of crops from DBM, 4-5 billion dollars have been wasted annually for applying integrated measures in worldwide. Major prevention is use of pesticides that may build the contamination level of chemicals in the ground and this practice threats the environment and ecosystem. An alternative is to develop GM brassica crops and therefore we have developed GM cabbages resistant DBM using bt gene. Lots of T0 cabbages were tested for resistance and independent GM cabbages resistant to DBM were selected. Molecular analysis was conducted to find if GM cabbage holds one copy transgene and intergenic insertion. We found an independent GM cabbage and it contained a singly copy of the transgene without disturbing the insertion site. This one called C95 line with an status of event have been self-crossed for two generation (T2). Also we are working the development of GM cabbage with different vector that contains bar gene as a selection marker. So far 17 T0 cabbages have been obtained by bar selection.

        In order to select the seeding machine for mechanizing cultivation of rapeseed in southern areas of Korea, three different seeding machines, ridge rotary, power tiller ridge rotary, tractor ridge rotary were used for sowing one of the high yielding rapeseed cv. Hybrid with five different seeding methods. Seeding of ridge rotary was reduced the seeding effort with 45% and yield components such as plant height, ear length, number of branches and pods, pod length and seed setting rate were higher. The seeding of ridge rotary also was showed highest seed yield. On the basis of time requirement for seeding, vegetative and yield parameters ridge rotary seeding machine was a suitable seeding machine for rapeseed cultivation at the southern area of Korea.

        The objectives of this experiment was to evaluate the effect of seeding and transplanting date on yield and quality of rapeseed experiment were conducted in the research field of Chungcheongnam Do(Taejun) Agricultural Research and Extension Services with Yudal, one of the rapeseed cultivar of different growth characteristics among the six treatments were examined and recorded. Results showed that yield components such as plant height, length of ear and pod, number of branches and pods and percentage of pod setting and seed set were highest at the plot with direct seeding in Sep. 10. In this treatment yield of seed, 1,000 grains weight and weight of 1l were highest. On the basis of vegetative and yield parameter of direct seeding in Sep. 10 was the best sowing date of rapeseed crop in Chungcheongnam Do region of Korea. Experiments were conducted in the research field of Chungcheongnam Do(Taejun) Agricultural Research and Extension Services with Yudal variety, which showed different growth characteristics. Yield components such as plant height, length of ear and pod, number of branches and pods and percentage of pod setting and seed set were highest at the plot with direct seeding in Sep. 10. Yield of seed, 1,000 grains weight and weight of 1l were highest at the direct seeding in Sep. 10. Judging from the results reported above, seemed to be direct seeding in Sep. 10.

        This study was conducted to evaluate the control effect of fungicides of sclerotinia rot control, growth characteristics, and seed yield in the cultivation of rapeseed. All fungicides treated had no effect on the growth of rapeseed. The major fungicides were mancozeb 75% WP, chlorothalonil 75% WP, dithianon 43% WP. difenoconazole 10% WP, benomyl 50% WP, and propineb 70% WP. Dry seed yield and control were increased largely with chlorothalonil 75% WP (33g/12l), fungicide than the other fungicides Sclerotinia rot. All fungicides had no injury with standard dosage. On the other hand all fungicides had slight injury in the double dosage level for the rapeseed.
