In this study, we addressed the prevention of fire extinguishing device malfunction caused by noise in the fire detector of automatic fire extinguishing devices applied to mobile equipment such as armored vehicles and tanks. The automatic fire extinguishing system consists of a fire detection unit, an automatic control unit, and a fire suppression unit. In the case of a fire detector, it is a major component of the fire detection unit. Even though no fire occurred during operation in the field, a number of fire extinguisher sprays occurred, and the malfunction of the fire detector, which is a fire detection unit, was reproduced. The cause was identified as noise in the fire detector connector due to vibration and shock that may occur during operation of the mobility equipment. In order to solve this problem, noise generated momentarily from a fire detector is treated as an exception, and when a fire signal is transmitted from the fire detector to the automatic control unit for more than a certain period of time, Software has been improved to enable fire extinguishers to operate. This study analyzed the causes of malfunctions in automatic fire extinguishing devices, which are components of mobile equipment, and derived improvement measures to improve the reliability of automatic fire extinguishing devices.

The purpose of this study was to compare the postural muscle activity during wearing a lead apron with and without applying waist belt at working posture. Ten healthy male subjects were recruited for this study. Electromyography using a surface EMG recorded the activity of the splenius capitis, trapezius, and erector spinae. EMG activity was recorded at quiet standing, 45 degrees of neck flexion, 45 degrees of neck flexion with 15 degrees of trunk flexion. The testing order was selected randomly. The subjects were asked to maintain the each posture for 3 minutes. The mean root mean square (RMS) of EMG activity was calculated. EMG activity was normalized using the maximum voluntary isometric contraction (MVIC) elicited using a manual muscle testing technique. Two-factor repeated measures analysis of variance (ANOVA) was used to compare the average RMS value of EMG activity for each condition. The EMG activity of trapezius muscle was significantly decreased with applying waist belt (p<.05). The muscle activity of splenius capitis and erector spinae showed significant difference according to postures (p<.05). These results suggest that applying waist belt during wearing a lead apron will be useful to prevent shoulder pain.

The synoptic structural characteristics associated with heavy snowfall (Bukgangneung: 31.3 cm) that occurred in the Yeongdong area on 20 January 2017 was investigated using surface and upper-level weather charts, European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF) reanalysis data, radiosonde data, and Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) cloud product. The cold dome and warm trough of approximately 500 hPa appeared with tropopause folding. As a result, cold and dry air penetrated into the middle and upper levels. At this time, the enhanced cyclonic potential vorticity caused strong baroclinicity, resulting in the sudden development of low pressure at the surface. Under the synoptic structure, localized heavy snowfall occurred in the Yeongdong area within a short time. These results can be confirmed from the vertical analysis of radiosonde data and the characteristics of the MODIS cloud product.
