Urokinase-type plasminogen activator (uPA) and plasminogen activator type 1 (PAI-1) inhibitor contribute to the invasiveness of many carcinomas. It will be helpful to study clinical behavior of patients with malignant tumor by analysis of their expression. Expression of uPA and PAI-1 in human salivary gland tumors has been rarely reported in vitro. The purpose of this study were to investigate the protein expression of uPA and PAI-1 in SGT cell line compared to oral SCC and HeLa cell lines and to study migration and adhesion assay. All the cell lines were cultured under DMEM with 10% FBS at at 37oC in a 5% CO2 incubator. We studied a possible association between cytosolic uPA and PA-1 concentrations in SGT cell line compared to any other cell lines through cell migration and adhesion assay, and enzyme-linked immunoassay(ELISA). In migration assay SGT cell line was about 2 .5-4 folds higher than another cell lines. In adhesion assay SGT cell line was about 1.1-2 folds higher than another cell lines. uPA cytosolic concentrations of SGT cell line was about 3-10 folds, while PAI-1 was about 2.5-10 folds. Oral SCC cell lines were the lowest value. Both uPA and PAI-1 concentrations were correlated with migration and adhesion assay. High cytosolic concentrations of uPA and PAI-1 was correlated with migration and adhesion assay. It suggested that these markers might be specific marker for SGT cell line and would be contributed to treatment and prognosis of human salivary gland adenocarcinoma

Thirty normal adults were tested to measure the electrical activity of the anterior (AD), middle (MD), and posterior portion (PD) of the deltoid muscle and sternal portion of the pectoralis major muscle (PM) during the performance of four upper extremity PNF diagonal patterns with elbow flexion angle in , , and . The PNF patterns in which these muscles function optimally have been theoretically advanced by Kabat and further described by Knott and Voss. They theorize that the MD should be most active with shoulder flexion, abduction, and external rotation (D2F); the PD with shoulder extension, abduction, and internal rotation (D1E); the AD with shoulder flexion, adduction, and external rotation (D1F); and the PM with shoulder extension, adduction and internal rotation (D2E). The patterns were performed through range of motion, with an isometric contraction performed in the shortened range. When the EMG activity of AD, MD, PD and PM in its optimal patterns was measured, it does not have significant difference among fixed elbow flexion angle , , and (p>.05). In addition, suggestions were made for study of patients who exhibit imbalance of muscle strength and have muscle weakness.

Perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) and perfluorooctyl sulfonate (PFOS) is a new persistent organic pollutants of substantial environmental concern. This study investigated the potential of magnetic ion exchange resin (MIEXⓇ) as the adsorbent for the removal of PFOA and PFOS from Nakdong River water. In our batch experiments, we studied the effect of some parameters (pH, temperature, sulfate concentration) on the removal of PFOA and PFOS. The results of sorption kinetics on MIEXⓇ show that it takes 90 min to reach equilibrium but the economical contact time and dosage were 30 min and 10 mL/L. An increase in pH (pH 6∼10) leads to a decrease in PFOA (2.0%) and PFOS (3.6%) sorption on MIEXⓇ. The sorption of both PFOA and PFOS decreases with an increase in ionic strength for sulfate ion (SO4 2-), due to the competition phenomenon. An increase in water temperature (8℃∼28℃) in water leads to a increase in PFOA (2.8%) and PFOS (4.3%) sorption on MIEXⓇ. Based on the sorption behaviors and characteristics of the adsorbents and adsorbates, ion exchange and hydrophobic interaction were deduced to be involved in the sorption, and hemi-micelles possibly formed in the intraparticle pores.
