        This paper deals with an experimental study on the tensile performance of recently developed “FRP Hybrid Bars” by authors. The objective of this study is to investigate tensile strength of FRP Hybrid Bars. FRP Hybrid Bar uses the concept of material hybridization to increase elastic modulus to be used in concrete structures, especially for marine and port concrete structures. The effect of hybridization on tensile properties of FRP Hybrid Bars was evaluated by comparing the results of tensile test with those of non-hybrid FRP bars. The results of this study indicated that the elastic modulus of the hybrid GFRP bar was increased by up to approximately 5 to 204 percent by the material hybridization.

        Besides its exceptional resistance to corrosion, Fiber Reinforced Polymers (FRP) present the advantage to develop high strength compared to its self-weight which highlighted it recently as a material that can replace fairly classical construction materials like steel and concrete. The emergence of glass fiber and the development of resin fabrication technology made it possible to reduce significantly the costs of FRP material and the emphasis given on the importance of life cycle cost (LCC) for structures after the 1980s opened its exploitation in the construction domain. In this paper, research trends of structural member development which is related to FRP material are briefly suggested.

        In this study two kinds of cases were selected in order to develop roadway system. Specifically two boundary conditions were considered with varying support offset. In each case, relatively loading Dead load, Live load, Temperature load, displacement and reaction force were analyzed at the end of slab. As a result, this study performed optimization review of roadway connection.

        Fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) reinforcing bars for concrete structure, as a non-corrosive material, has been extensively investigated by many researchers. However, it has not been practically used as the reinforcement or structural material in civil engineering structures due to its low elastic modulus if glass fibers were used. This study was motivated to overcome this shortcoming of FRP bars to be used for concrete structures. Material hybridization was applied to enhance its elastic modulus. The effect of material hybridization was evaluated by comparing the results of tensile test with those of non-hybrid FRP bars.

        This paper presents design concept as well as trial products to develop hybrid reinforcing polymer bars. The objective of this study is to develop a viable hybrid FRP bar for concrete structures, especially for marine and waterfront concrete structures. Three different types of hybrid FRP bar were considered in the development. Using E-glass fibers, unsaturated polyester resins, and conventional steel bar, hybrid GFRP bar samples of 9 mm and 13 mm in diameter were fabricated as the trial products. The results obtained in the pultrusion process of the trial products are discussed in this paper

        This paper presents tensile behavior of hybrid reinforcing polymer bars. The objective of this study is to evaluate the behavior change of hybrid FRP bar according to the volume fraction and position of fibers. Considered FRP bar had 13 mm in diameter and fibers of it were glass and steel fiber. The results obtained in the FEM analysis are discussed in this paper.

        In USA and Europe, a study for precast modular road system has been performed over the last 20 years to construct the road rapidly and to reduce traffic congestion during repair and rehabilitation of deteriorated concrete pavements.         In this paper, a finite element analysis to design hybrid reinforcing polymer bars was presented. Two different types of hybrid FRP bar were considered in finite element modeling. To offer the necessity and validity of finite element modeling for the hybrid reinforcing polymer bars, shape and material properties were assumed. Input conditions for analyzing the hybrid reinforcing polymer bars using FEM were verified. Using the results of the finite element analysis, the hybrid reinforcing polymer bars were optimally designed and the results are presented in this paper..

        FRP hybrid bar, a type of the reinforcing bar, is combined with the FRP or steel core and FRP cover. FRP braided hybrid bar is a type of the FRP hybrid bar having the FRP braid as FRP cover. To estimate the axial behavior of FRP braided hybrid bar, the behavior of FRP braid in axial direction of the bar should be calculated. In this paper, to estimate the stiffness of FRP braid in axial direction of the bar, the approximate analytical solution was proposed.

        This paper presents the results of researches to developing the precast modular bridges. Procedures to decide types of bridges, results of the optimizations to minimize the cross sectional areas, concepts of joints between modules, and the results of the experimental tests to evaluate the performance of joints are presented in this paper. It is expected that the precast modular bridges may be the effective alternatives to rapidly replace deteriorated bridges and damaged bridges by disasters.

        To evaluate the seismic performance of CFFT pier reinforced by FRP, quasi-static loading tests have been conducted using the real-scaled specimens in this study. The cast in placed CFFT specimen and the precast CFFT specimens were used in these tests. From the results of the tests, it is observed that the ultimate deformation and the ductility can be improved by FRP reinforcement though the hoop reinforcement is minimized.
