        In this study, sixth grade school children in the Guri area were surveyed via questionnaire regarding their sociodemographìc characteristics, snacking pattems, and intakes of different food groups and sugared snacks. Students with employed mothers had more frequent snacking events and were more dependent on store-purchased snacks compared to those having an unemployed mother. A high consumption of snack sugar was associated with a higher dietary diversity score. There was a positive relationship between snack sugar intake and the intakes of meat and dairy products and foods in the oil and nut group, respectively. A high snack sugar intake had a negative effect on fruit intake. Specific nutrient intake data will be required before conclusions can be made on whether nutrient imbalances are a concern in elementary school children having sweet snacks. Yet, the current data indicate that an increased snack sugar intake can decrease fruit intake, which could result in certain nutrient deficits. Specific dietary guidance may be necessary to address the snacking habits of elementary school children.

        We present a photometric study of the star cluster system in the merging galaxy NGC 1487, based on the BI photometry obtained from the F450W and F814W images in the HST /WFPC2 archive data. We have found about 560 star cluster candidates in NGC 1487, using the morphological parameters of the objects. We have investigated several photometric characteristics of the clusters: color-magnitude diagrams (CMDs), color distribution, spatial distribution, age, size and luminosity function. The CMD of the bright clusters with 18.5 < B < 24 mag in NGC 1487 shows three major populations of clusters: a blue cluster population with (B-I) ≤ 0.45, an intermediate-color cluster population with 0.45<(B-I) ≤ 1.55, and a red cluster population with (B - I) > 1.55. The intermediate-color population is the most dominant among the three populations. The brightest clusters in the blue and intermediate- color populations are as bright as B ≈18 mag (MB ≈ -12 mag), which are three magnitudes brighter than those in the red population. The blue and intermediate-color clusters are strongly concentrated on the bright condensations, while the red clusters are relatively more scattered over the galaxy. The CMD of these clusters is found to be remarkably similar to that of the clusters in the famous interacting system M51. From this we suggest that the intermediate-color clusters were, probably, formed during the merging process which occurred about 500 Myrs ago.

        Chlorine-containing modified polyester polyols were synthesized by two-step condensation reactions. Intermediate was synthesized by the esterification of monochloroacetic acid with trimethylolpropane in the first step. Polycondensation of the intermediate (MCAOs), 1,4-butanediol, and trimethylolpropane with adipic acid was carried out. Two-component polyurethane (PU) coatings were prepared by blending MCAOs and IPDI-isocyanurate. There new flame-retardant coatings showed various properties comparable to other non-flame-retardant coatings. They were superior to flammable coatings from the experimental results showing rapid and 10 to 13 hours of pot-life. Coatings with 30wt% monochloroacetic acid was not flammable by the vertical flame retardancy test.

        본 연구에서는 의류용 직물의 소리와 변환색채의 특성을 분류하고, 역학특성과의 관계분석을 통해 직물의 역학적 특성과 소리 그리고 변환색채와의 관계를 상관분석하고자 하였다. 다양한 의류용 직물의 스치는 소리를 녹음한 후 소리의 물리량으로 군집분석을 하였으며, Okamoto와 Mori의 색채변환 프로그램을 이용하여 직물의 소리를 색채로 변환하였다. 직물의 소리는 각각 silky, crispy, paper-like, worsted, flax의 다섯 그룹으로 나뉘었다. Silky는 매끄럽고 부드러운 견직물 등으로 구성되었으며, LPT(소리의 음압), δf, ARC값이 군집 중 가장 낮아 심리 음향학적 loudness(z)와 sharpness(z)가 제일 낮은 조용한 직물들로 나타났다. 변환된 색채는 홍색 계열이었으며 색채 빈도수가 가장 많았다. raper-like는 뻣뻣하고 파삭파삭한 직물들로 LPT, δf ARC값이 군집 중 가장 높아 loudness와 sharpness가 높은 시끄러운 직물들로 나타났다. Worsted는 모직물과 모직물 느낌의 직물들로 LPT, δf, loudness값이 paper-like다음으로 높은 값을 보였으며 sharpness는 유사했다. Paper-like와 worsted의 변환된 색채는 청색 계열이 주류를 이루었으며 매우 낮은 색채 빈도수를 나타냈다. Crispy는 표면이 까실까실한 느낌의 직물들로 loudness(z)와 sharpness(z)의 값은 높지 않았으나 변환된 색채는 다양한 색채계열과 빈도수를 나타냈다.

Sepedolhilus amurensis Schilke, S. fimvriatus(Sharp), S. marshami(Stephens), S. simulans Nakne and Sawada, S. suvarmatus Naomi and Matuyama, S. tiialis(Sharp), and S. varicornis(Sharp). 한국산 알뾰족반날개속에 대한 검색표를 작성하였고, 종을 기재하였으며, 진단 형질을 조식하였다.

        During implantation period uterus undergoes functional and histological changes including cell proliferation, differentiation, apoptosis. This delicate condition is regulated by various factors such as steroid hormones, cytokines, and growth factors. From previous our studies, we showed the spatio-temporal expression of Müllerian inhibiting substance (MIS) and MIS receptor Ⅱ (MISR II) in mouse uteri during pregnancy. In present study investigated the role of MISRⅡ in proliferation and differentiation in the uterus. The decidualization markers were dramatically decreased during treated rhMIS and MISRⅡ viral particles in in vitro decidualization model. The intensity of PAS staining and Oil-Red-O staining were dramatically decreased by treatment of rhMIS and overexpression of MISRⅡ. MIS/MISRⅡ also suppressed stromal proliferation regulate the differentiation of stroma cell during decidualization. MIS suppress the stromal proliferation and decidual differentiation along with its receptor. Put together it is suggested that MIS works as paracrine and autocrine factors for cell proliferation regulator and differentiation regulator during implantation.

        Research on salinity stress has strongly increased over the last decade, as salinity stress is a main key factor limiting the global crop production in many regions of the world. In recent years, it is possible to obtain a large amount of genotypic data in a short time due to a reduction in genotyping costs. This wave of genomic information has effected the development of new strategies for the integration of molecular information in breeding programs. However, phenotyping is still a manual activity, and different from each species, environment, and trait. It often generates high labor costs, and can be sensitive to environmental changes, and sometimes includes the individual biased assessments from different people. There is a strong demand for phenotypic data of high quality. The current objective of phenomics is phenotyping a large number of individuals for many traits in a nondestructive manner and with good accuracy. Here we described the image-based technology as applied to alleviate the bottleneck for the development of high-throughput phenotyping platforms. Several trials to measure stress responses of rice plantlets based on image data under the salinity condition are underway to develop automation for the next-level of phenotyping.

        Rice is one of the most important cereal crops in the world and a model plant for functional genomics of monocotyledon. Recently, rice crop loss is estimated to be approximately 30% of the total yield due to herbivorous pests, mainly insects. Cry1Ac toxin is a protein produced by the bacterium Bacillus thuringiensis and has insecticidal properties. CryBP1 toxin also is an insecticidal protein produced by the bacterium Bacillus popilliae. These two toxic genes derived bacteria, which were inserted into a binary vector, have been introduced into rice plants by Agrobacterium tumefaciens mediated transformation in order to enhance resistance to insects. Here, we utilized anthers to regenerate transgenic rice plants when it has been plated on the callus induction media as a callus-inducing material. Anther culture has a benefit in terms of being apt to produce doubled haploids in short term in plants breeding compared to seed culture. However, anther culture method in generating transgenic rice still has low productivity of plant regeneration in some genotypes of Japonica rice. Therefore, we examined the efficiency of callus induction and transformation with three different cultivars of Japonica rice, Haiami, Ungwang and Dongjin. In this study, our results showed that Haiami is the best genotype among three cultivars of Japonica rice as callus inducing material in anther culture to produce transgenic rice plants conferring resistance to insects.

        A new standard rose cultivar ‘Green Star’ was bred from the cross between pink color standard cultivar ‘Pastel move’ and red color standard cultivar ‘Vital’ at the National Institute of Horticulture & Herbal Science. The cross was made in 2008 and ‘Green Star’ was finally selected in 2013 after investigating characteristics for three years from 2011 to 2013. ‘Green Star’, a light yellow standard cultivar grows vigorously and has good and big shape. The major characteristics of this cultivar are 122.0 stems/㎡/year in yield, 77.0±8.0 cm in length of cut flower, 12.1±0.4 cm in flower diameter, 37.7±4.2 in petal number, and 11.0±1.4 days in vase life. This cultivar can be propagated by both cutting and grafting. The consumer’s preference of this cultivar is relatively higher than that of control cultivar, ‘Moonlight’.

        Drought and salinity are the major abiotic stresses which are being continued to hamper the ecosystem and agriculture of the affected region. Plant species have adaptations to enhance their ability to tolerate stresses through physiological adjustment. Therefore, substantial amount of research are ongoing to provide insights about those mechanisms which enlighten the stress tolerance in plant. In this study, several rice cultivars were collected from the different parts of the world and ion accumulation experiments were conducted to select the best stress tolerant cultivar in drought and salt stress environment. For stress treatment, five rice cultivars were subjected to salt (200 mM NaCl) and drought (200 mM Mannitol) for 72h. Later Na+, Ca++, K+ concentrations in shoot and root samples were examined at different time interval. In both drought and salt stress, rice cultivar C201 (collected for uzbekistan) showed the lowest levels of Na+ ion and Na+: K+ ratio compared to other cultivars. It was significant parallel observation with pokkali (known salt tolerant cultivar). In this preliminary study, it was observed the C201 had more stress tolerant in terms of ion accumulation; however detail physiological studies are required to strengthen the idea regarding the best stress tolerant physiotype.

        It is necessary to develop the one stop system in order to protect our marine environment rapidly from oil spill accident. The purpose of this study is to develop real time database for oil spill prediction modeling and implement real time prediction modelling with ESI and server-client GIS based user interface. The existing oil spill prediction model cannot provide one stop information system for public and government who should protect sea from oil spill accident. The development of multi user based information system permits integrated handling of real time meteorological data from external ftp. A server-client GIS based model is integrated on the basis of real time database and ESI map to provide the result of the oil spill prediction model. End users can access through the client interface and request analysis such as oil spill prediction and GIS functions on the network as their own purpose.

        The management of safety at sea is based on a set of internationally accepted regulations and codes, governing or guiding the design and operation of ships. The regulations most directly concerned with human safety and protection of the environment are, in general, agreed internationally through the International Maritime Organization(IMO). IMO has continuously dealt with safety problems and, recognized that the human element is a key factor in both safety and pollution prevention issues(IMO, 2010). This paper proposes a human error analysis methodology which is based on the human error taxonomy and theories (SHELL model, GEMS model and etc.) that were discussed in the IMO guidelines for the investigation of human factors in marine casualties and incidents. In this paper, a cognitive process model, a human error analysis technique and a marine accident causal chains focused on human factors are discussed, and towing vessel collision accidents are analyzed as a case study in order to examine the applicability of the human error analysis technique to marine accidents. Also human errors related to those towing vessel collision accidents and their underlying factors are discussed in detail.

        This research was conducted to get the basic materials necessary to obtain the somatic hybrid plant between Solanum sisymbriifolium and other Solanum species (S. integrifolium and S. toxicarium). Regarding the formation of colony from the protoplast in S. sisymbriifolium, S. integrifolium and the fused protoplast mixture; for the S. sisymbriifolium, a colony was observed in F medium(Kao medium containing 5.0mg·L-1 NAA, 1.0mg·L-1 2,4-D and 1.0mg·L-1 BA); and for the S. integrifolium, in G medium (a half strength MS medium containing 0.03 M sucrose, 0.4 M mannitol, 1.0mg·L-1 NAA, 1.0mg·L-1 kinetin) respectively. In mixed cultured protoplast after electriofusion treatment, the cell division and colony formation were observed in both media F and G. For the shoot and root formation rate, there was no difference between the parent of each breed and mixed protoplast regardless of the medium. In the fused protoplast mixture of S. sisymbriifolium and S. toxicarium, a colony formation was also observed in both media F and H(a half strength MS medium containing 0.03 M sucrose, 0.4 M mannitol, 1.0mg·L-1 NAA, 1.0mg·L-1 kinetin); and there was no difference in the shoot and root formation rate between the parent and the mixed protoplast.

        Osmotic stress is one of major limiting factors in crop production. In particular, seasonal drought often causes the secondary disease in the field, resulting in severe reduction in both quality and productivity. Recent efforts have revealed that many genes encoding protein kinases play important roles in osmotic stress signal transduction pathways. Previously, the AtSIK (Arabidopsis thaliana Stress Inducible Kinase) mutants have shown to enhance tolerance to abiotic stresses, accompanying with higher expression of abiotic stress-related genes than did the wild-type plants. In this study, we have transformed potato (cv. Taedong Valley) with the AtSIK expression cassette. Both PCR and RT-PCR using AtSIK-specific primers showed stable integration and expression of the AtSIK gene in individual transgenic lines, respectively. Foliar application of herbicide (Basta®) at commercial application rate (0.3% (v/v)) revealed another evidence of stable gene introduction of T-DNA which includes the bar gene for herbicide resistance. Overexpression of the AtSIK gene under dual CaMV35S promoter increased sensitivity to salt stress (300 mM NaCl), which was demonstrated by the reduction rate of chlorophyll contents in leaves of transgenic potato lines. These results suggest that possible increase of osmotic tolerance in potato plants may be achieved by antisense expression of AtSIK gene.
