        This paper explores students’ and teacher’s experiences with project-oriented learning, as a form of critical pedagogy for Korean English language teaching. The teacher in this study developed and implemented a model of project-based instruction into a Korean tertiary context. The data set consisted of learner journals, teacher journals, and interviews. Six findings were ascertained: (1) The project approach created resistance from both the students and the teacher; (2) Communication between the teacher and the students eased the students’ frustrations; (3) The goal-oriented nature of project work encouraged students to construct linguistic and topic-related knowledge; (4) Group work promoted independent and collaborative learning; (5) The teacher’s role as a facilitator continued to confuse the teacher; and (6) Plagiarism seemed to limit student learning. Based on the findings, two pedagogical implications were drawn: Studentcentered approaches in large low-level classes would require some degree of teachercenteredness in order to respond to language demands; and learner and teacher journals can serve as an indicator of a need for teacher-centered methods.

        Ursolic acid is a triterpenoid compound present in many plants. This study examined the antimicrobial activity of ursolic acid against mutans streptococci (MS) isolated from the Korean population. The antimicrobial activity was evaluated by the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) and time kill curves of MS. The cytotoxicity of ursolic acid against KB cells was tested using an MTT assay. The MIC90 values of ursolic acid for Streptococcus mutans and Streptococcus sobrinus isolated from the Korean population were 2 μg/ml and 4 μg/ml, respectively. Ursolic acid had a bactericidal effect on S. mutans ATCC 25175 T and S. sobrinus ATCC 33478 T at > 2 × MIC (4 μg/ml) and 4 × MIC (8 μg/ml), respectively. Ursolic acid had no cytotoxic effect on KB cells at concentrations at which it exerted antimicrobial effects. The results suggest that ursolic acid can be used in the development of oral hygiene products for the prevention of dental caries.

        The experimental work was conducted to investigate the effects of the application level of composted cattle manure (CCM) on forage productivity using whole crop barely (WCB)-whole crop rice (WCR) double cropping system for 3 years. Main plot was consisted of application level of CCM such as 150%, 200% and control plot. The total DMY of forages under WCB and WCR in treatment of CF significantly decreased as compared with that of treatment of CCM 150%. However, NDF, ADF and CP content of WCB and WCR were hardly influenced by CCM application.

        This experiment was carried out to find out the optimum variety of com hybrids and to find out alternative crops in the rice black-streaked dwarf virus(RBSDV) prevalent area. Productivity of 4 Korean improved and 6 introduced com hybrids and RBSDV infection rate were tested for 3 years in both Cheonan(middle part of Korea) and Gochang(southern part of Korea). Percentage of RBSDV diseased plants differed depending on the hybrid and region.

        본 연구는 원예치료프로그램을 뇌병변장애 남자 중학생에 적용하였을 때 정서안정과 학교생활적응 및 자아존중감 등에 미치는 영향을 알아보고자 수행하였다. 본 연구에서 실시한 원예치료프로그램은 단일사례로 진행된 연구이지만, 사회·심리·정서적 행동특성 평가 및 학교생활 적응 척도, 자아존중감 검사의 결과에서 효과가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구가 비록 단일사례연구이고, 이를 체계적으로 검증할 도구의 부족으로 뇌병변장애 학생 전반에게 일반화하여 적용하는데 한계가 있을 것이다. 그러므로, 본 연구를 바탕으로 진행과정과 프로그램을 보완 및 수정한다면 향후, 뇌병변장애 학생을 위한 다양한 프로그램으로 개발되기를 기대한다.
