Differently from fly ash, the bottom ash produced from incinerated urban solid waste has been treated as an industrial waste matter, and almost reclaimed a tract form the sea. If this waste material is applicable to foam concrete as an fine aggregate, however, it may be worthy of environmental preservation by recycling of waste material as well as reducing self-weight of high-rising structure and long-span bridge. This research has an objective of evaluating the effects of application of bottom ash on the mechanical properties of foam concrete. Thus, the ratio of bottom ash to cement was selected as a variable for experiment and the effect was tested by compression strength, flexural strength, absorption ratio, density, expansion factor. It can be observed from experiments that the application ratios have different effects on the material parameters considered in this experiment, thus major relationship between application ratio and each material parameter were finally introduced. The result of this study can be applied to decide a optimal mix design proportion of foam light-weight concrete while bottom ash is used as an fine aggregate of the concrete.

Esterification of soybean oil with methanol was investigated. First of all, liquid-liquid equilibriums for systems of soybean oil and methanol were measured at temperatures ranging from 40 to 65oC. Profiles of conversion of soybean oil with time were determined from the glycerine content in reaction mixtures for the different kinds of catalysts, such as NaOH, CaO, Ca(OH)2, MgO, Mg(OH)2, and Ba(OH)2. The effects of dose of catalyst, cosolvent and reaction temperature on final conversion were examined. Esterification of waste vegetable oil with methanol was investigated and compared to the case of soybean oil. Solubility of methanol in soybean oil was substantially greater than that of soybean oil in methanol. When the esterification reaction of soybean oil was catalyzed by solid catalyst, final conversion was strongly dependent on the alkalinity of the solid catalyst, and increased with the alkalinity of the metal. Hydroxides from the alkali metals were more effective than oxides. When Ca(OH)2 was used for the esterification catalyst, maximum value of final conversion was measured at dose of 4%. When CHCl3 as a cosolvent, was added into the reaction mixture of soybean oil which catalyzed by Ba(OH)2, maximum value of final conversion was appeared at dose of 3%. When waste vegetable oil was catalyzed by NaOH and solid catalysts, high final conversion, over 90%, and fast reaction rate were obtained.

We analyzed the amount of environmental loads, and the amount of energy consumption through life cycle assessment from a discharge stage to the ultimate disposal to municipal solid waste in Seoul. We carried out inventory analysis of the amount of environmental loads that made the object range collection, intermediate treatment, and the final treatment, and took into consideration each stage exceptions CO2 and NOx , the amount of SOx discharge, and energy consumption. We applied the data of an object model, and acquisition processed the scale of an object model suitably and applied to it to difficult data using the data of the Yokohama City incineration plant in Japan. The amount of environmental loads per 1ton of municipal waste were analyzed CO2 0.4C-ton, SOx 0.4kg and NOx 0.8kg. Moreover, the amount of energy consumption which is 2.4Gcal was computed.
