Thin sections of cellulose fibers were incubated with an endo- and an exoglucanase labeled with gold particles of differing sizes. The hydrolytic sites were then visualized under transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The potential interaction between the β-1, 4-glucan substrates and the endo- and the exoglucanases was investigated using cellulosic and lignocellulosic substrates. The simultaneous visualization was very successful in distinguishing preferred substrates for each cellulase in lignocellulosic substrates. When plant lignocellulose was preincubated with endocellulase, density of the gold labeling greatly increased suggesting that preliminary exposure of lignocellulosic material to endocellulase may have enhanced the accessibility of the substrate to endocellulase and exocellulase. This result provided a plausible explanation for the observed endo/exo cellulase co-hydrolysis.

광계II(PSII)는 고등식물의 chloroplast에서 두 개의 광합성 반응중심 중의 하나이다. Chlorophyll a/b 광수확 복합체는 광계II를 위한 안테나 역할을 수행한다. 본 연구에서는 인삼의 잎조직을 제작한 cDNA library로부터 chlorophyll a/b-binding protein (Cab) 유전자를 분리하였다. 인삼 Cab유전자는 935 bp의 염기와 265개의 아미노산 잔기(pI 5.63)로 구성된 한 개의 ORF를 포함하고 있으며, 단백질의 분자량은 28.6 kDa으로 추정되었다. 인삼에서 분리한 Cab 유전자는 기존에 식물에서 보고된 유전자들과 유사성을 나타내었으며, 유사도는 68-92%로 나타났다. 아미노산 서열을 비교하여 유연관계를 분석한 결과 인삼의 Cab 유전자는 비교된 P. persica (AAC34983), A.thaliana (AAD28771), G. hirsutum (CAA38025), G. max (AAL29886), V. radiata (AAF89205) 등과 동일한 그룹으로 분리되었다.

15종의 항어혈성 중국 약용식물의 추출물에 대하여 PAF 수용체 결합 억제활성을 검색한 결과 4종의 약용식물, Campsis grandiflora, Dalbergia odorifera, Zanthoxylum nitidum, Vaccaria segetalis에서 50% 이상의 강한 PAF 결합 저해 활성이 나타났다.

Iron hydroxides are good adsorbents for uncomplexed metals, some metal-ligand complexes and many metal oxyanions. However, their adsorption properties of these precipitations are not fully exploited in wastewater treatment operations because of difficulties associated with their separation from the aqueous phase. This study describes experiments in which iron hydroxides were coated onto the surface of ordinary adsorbents(Sea sand) that are very resistant to acids, The coated adsorbents were used in adsorption of oxyanionic metals. The process was successful in removing some anions such as SeO3(-Ⅱ) over a wide range of metal concentrations and sorption of oxyanionic metals increased with decreasing pH. Formation of two surface complexes for oxyanionic metals adsorption on iron hydroxides comprise (1) complexation of the free anion by a positively charged surface site, and (2) protonation of the adsorbed anion (or alternatively adsorption of a protonated form from solution) The coated adsorbents are inexpensive to prepare and could serve as the basis of a useful oxyanionic metal removal.

Man-Kun Yoon. 1999. Unselective Binding and Multiple Wh-Fronting Constructions. Studies in Modern Grammar 15, 23-41. The first aim of this paper is to argue that any event in our world necessarily co-occurs with four adverbials such as time, place, manner and reason adverbials which can turn into four different wh-adjuncts; when, where, why and how. This paper further argues that this phenomenon is language universal. Second aim is that unselective binding applies only to wh-NPs, not wh-adjuncts, and hence covert raising is necessary for the checking of wh-adjuncts. Although wh-NPs can be interpreted in situ by unselective binding, case checking of wh-NPs requires covert or overt raising of them. Third aim is that nominative wh-NPs can be checked by C。 and accusative wh-NPs by C^(omax). More elaborate purposes are given below in introduction:
