In this study, the structural performance of the specimen fabricated through 3D printing was evaluated through monotonic loading experiments analysis to apply to 3D printed structures. The compression and flexural experiments were carried out, and the experimental results were compared to the finite element model results. The loading directions of specimens were investigated to consider the capacity of specimens with different curing periods, such as 7 and 28 days. As a result, the strength tended to increase slightly depending on the stacking direction. Also, between the 3D-printed panel composite and the non-reinforced panel, the bending performance depended on the presence or absence of composite reinforcement.

This study proposed a simplified finite element analysis procedure for designing the nonstructural masonry wall in the out-of-plane direction. The proposed method is a two-step elastic analysis procedure by bilinearizing the behavior of the masonry wall. The first step analysis was conducted with initial stiffness representing the behavior up to the effective-yield point, and the second step analysis was conducted with post-yield stiffness. In addition, the orthotropic material property of the masonry was considered in the FE analysis. The maximum load was estimated as the sum of the maximum loads in the first and second step analyses. The maximum load was converted into the moment coefficients and compared with those from the yield line method applied in Eurocode 6. The moment coefficients calculated through the proposed procedure showed a good match with those from the yield line method with less than 6% differences.

In this study, the out-of-plane seismic resistance of lightly-reinforced existing walls strengthened with thick RC jacket was investigated. The thick RC jacket with a thickness of 500 mm was placed at one side of the thin existing wall with a thickness of 150 mm. At the interface between the wall and RC jacket, a tee-shaped steel section with a number of anchor bolts and dowel bars was used as the shear connector. To investigate the connection performance and strengthening effects, the cyclic loading tests of four jacketed wall specimens were performed. The tests showed that the flexural strength of the jacketed walls under out-of-plane loading was significantly increased. During the initial behavior, the tee shear connector transferred forces successfully at the interface without slip. However, as the cracking, spalling, and crushing of the concrete increased in the exiting walls, the connection performance at the interface was significantly degraded and, consequently, the strength of the jacketed walls was significantly decreased. The flexural strength of the jacketed walls with tee shear connector was estimated considering the full and partial composite actions of the tee shear connector.

This study measured the in-plane and out-of-plane deflections of a beam using image processing technology. The deflections and rotation obtained from the vision-based measurement were compared with those from the traditional, current measurement method using three wired potentiometers. The results of this study indicated that the proposed vision-based measurement system was successfully applied to evaluating the out-of-plane deflections of a beam including the vertical in-plane deflection.
