        물은 신체의 대부분을 구성하고 있는 기본 물질로서 생명유지의 필수 요소이다. 특히 WHO에서는 인류 건강유지의 1등 공신으로 깨끗한 물공급을 꼽고 있다. 우리나라는 산업화, 도심화를 통해 신규오염물질 발생이 증가하고 있으며 특히 먹는물의 경우 중금속 및 소독부산물 중심의 관리에서 난연제, 코팅제, 의 약물질 등 신규오염물질 관리에 주력하고 있다. 우리나라 먹는물 수질기준은 1963년 최초 도입된 이래 1984년, 1986년 개정 강화되었으며, 1995년 먹는물 관리법이 제정되었고 1997년 감시항목이 설정되 어 기준과 감시의 2원화된 관리체계가 유지되고 있다. 먹는물 수질기준은 외국 사례 도입방식에서 체계적 장기 모니터링을 통한 위해도 평가를 수행하여 기준을 강화하고 있으며 현재 60개 항목으로 확대 강화되었다.

        As the Enforcement Ordinance of Environmental Policy Act was revised in 2013, total organic carbon(TOC) was added as an indicative parameter for organic matter in Water and Aquatic Ecosystem Environmental Criteria. Under these imminent circumstances, a regulatory standard is needed to achieve the proposed TOC limitation control water quality from the public sewage treatment plants(PSTWs). This study purposes to present the determination method for TOC effluent limitation at the PSTWs. Therefore we investigate the TOC effluent limitation of foreign countries such as EU, Germany and USA, and analyse the effluent water qualities of PSTWs. In using these TOC data, we review apprehensively the statistics-based, the technology-based, and the region(water quality)-based determination method of TOC effluent limitation for PSTWs.

        In this study, water quality levels were classified and water quality indices were calculated and analysed by using the water quality components of living environmental standards monitored 10 years (2008 ~ 2017) at four stations in the West Nakdong River. As a result of analyzing the monthly variation of the water quality components of the living environmental standards, the water quality in the West Nakdong River was worse downstream than upstream, and pollution at the WNR3 located in the downstream of the Jomangang was the most serious. As a result of classification of water quality levels, BOD and COD levels were the lowest, so water quality pollution in the West Nakdong River was found to be highly influenced by organic matters. The water quality index was the lowest in July and August at four stations, so water quality is showing the worst in summer. As a result of analyzing the correlation between the water quality components and the water quality index, the correlation between the TOC and the water quality index was high in the four stations, and the water quality index in the West Nakdong River was dominated by organic matters and nutrients.

        In this study, the water quality components (pH, BOD, COD, TOC, SS, DO, TP) and the water quality, observed for 10 years (2008~2017) in the five tributaries of the Nakdong River with the highest flow rates, were analyzed. Monthly levels of the water quality components were estimated and regression functions were used to quantitatively explain the changes in the BOD and COD components, with respect to the TOC components. The results of analyzing the water quality levels in terms of the living environmental standards show that the lowest water quality was observed midstream (ST-3) and the highest water quality was observed upstream (ST-1 and ST-2). The regression function was estimated to be a linear function in all five tributaries, and the goodness of fit of the function was high upstream (ST-2), midstream (ST-3), and downstream (ST-4). According to the regression analysis using the observation data from 2008~2017, we found that the consumption of dissolved oxygen increased with an increase in organic matter in the major tributaries of the Nakdong River.

        The objective of this study was to make a SBR+MBR complex process to evaluate the possible use of the advanced water treatment system for ships (SBR+MBR complex process) in accordance with the amendments MAPOL 73/78 that went into effect. The conditions 1 and 2 did not show the quick reduction in anaerobic condition while in the precipitation and stirring stages of the SBR treatment which was determined to be ineffective denitrification, same as with the ORP. Removal of organic matters such as BOD5 and CODCr in the SBR treatment was observed to happen smoothly and going through the MBR treatment as well would provide a stable water quality. However, the results were not satisfactory in accordance with BOD5 25 mg/L and CODCr 125 mg/L. Thus, the operating conditions improvement is deemed necessary. Likewise for the nutrients (T-N and T-P), the nitrification in bioreactor, denitrification and phosphorus absorption in aerobic tank due to phosphorus release in anaerobic tank had not been proceeded effectively. It was concluded that the improved operating conditions and structural changes would provide more effective treatments since the removal rates of T-N and T-P were less than 70% and 80%, respectively, which were standards specified by the MEPC. 227(64).
