To estimate pollution sources in the watershed with various industries, the simulation of contamination route and distribution of 2-methyl-4,6-dinitriophenol(DNOC) were performed with a numerical model Hydro Geo Sphere. This study was performed calculations of the load using the measured concentration and simulated flow rate. And, the river was divided by the sampling sites at the mainstream, and the contribution rate at downstream sampling sites was calculated for each section. The results showed the concentration of the downstream sampling sites were decided by the concentration of upstream sites, and the contribution rates of the tributaries were calculated below 10%. The results also showed that the impact of the potential sources in Section 1(Geumho1 ~ Geumho2) and Section 5(Geumho5 ~ Geumho6) was larger than in the other area. In Section1 and Section5, It seemed to require detailed investigation.
In the study, public facilities in Korea covered by the law, including PC-rooms, child care facilities, bus terminalwaiting rooms, elderly nursing facilities, movie theaters, underground subway stations, super super markets andindoor parking lots (8 types of facility, for a total of 32 locations) were investigated for indoor gas phase PAHsand particulate phase PAHs. PAHs source profiles were investigated as well. Finally, public facilities PAHs wereestimated the main influencing factors and sources of indoor by factor analysis. Underground subway stations andPC-rooms tended to be higher the concentration than other facilities. It judged each the effects of car exhaust, smoking, and elderly nursing facilities, child care facilities, movie theaters, where the influence of the outdoor airis less relatively direct effect that car exhaust and incoming of ambient air, were showed low concentration. Supersuper markets displayed a large amount of different products and bus terminal waiting rooms influenced car exhaustis higher than those that. Sources of indoor PAHs in public facilities make out profiling(cooking process: broilingmeat and fish, incense, shampoo, decorative candles, tobacco) and on the effects of ambient on reported existingliterature(of diesel and gasoline engines, heating fuel, coke oven, a wood combustion) was referred for factor analysisto estimate emission sources. As a result of particulate PAHs phase, three major factors were showed that factor1: cooking, use of gas fuel and combustion devices, factor 2: smoking. Factor 3: car exhaust. Factor analysis resultsof gas PAHs phase are similar to particulate PAHs phase. Additionally, factors such as air fresheners was estimated.
The objectives of this study were to measure ambient total gaseous mercury (TGM) concentrations in Seoul, to analyze the characteristics of TGM concentration, and to identify of possible source areas for TGM using back-trajectory based hybrid receptor models like PSCF (Potential Source Contribution Function) and RTWC (Residence Time Weighted Concentration). Ambient TGM concentrations were measured at the roof of Graduate School of Public Health building in Seoul for a period of January to October 2004.
Average TGM concentration was 3.43±1.17 ng/㎥. TGM had no notable pattern according to season and meteorological phenomena such as rainfall, Asian dust, relative humidity and so on. Hybrid receptor models incorporating backward trajectories including potential source contribution function (PSCF) and residence time weighted concentration (RTWC) were performed to identify source areas of TGM. Before hybrid receptor models were applied for TGM, we analysed sensitivities of starting height for HYSPLIT model and critical value for PSCF. According to result of sensitivity analysis, trajectories were calculated an arrival height of 1000 m was used at the receptor location and PSCF was applied using average concentration as criterion value for TGM. Using PSCF and RTWC, central and eastern Chinese industrial areas and the west coast of Korea were determined as important source areas. Statistical analysis between TGM and GEIA grided emission bolsters the evidence that these models could be effective tools to identify possible source area and source contribution.
