More than 6,000 power tiller accidents occurred in 2015, accounting for 50% of all agricultural machinery accidents. Despite this, educational institutions for farmers are only conducting theoretical education due to lack of training systems with guaranteed safety. This study developed an object motion tracking algorithm enabling trainees to control a power tiller driving simulator while wearing a HMD(head mounted display) in order to provide safe hands-on training equipment. A power tiller driving simulator was built using encoders, proximity sensors and displacement sensors to detect the locations of various operating devices such as steering clutch, and a computer model for this simulator was designed. Center coordinate synchronization of the driving simulator and the computer model was achieved with a tracker, and the motion of the power tiller driving simulator was tracked by computing position coordinates and rotation angles of the simulator. The maximum distance error was 23mm, and there was no difficulty maneuvering the driving simulator while wearing an HMD, even at maximum distance error. This motion tracking algorithm is expected to be applicable to the development of mixed reality based power tiller driving simulators for training, contributing to the reduction of power tiller accidents.

Motion simulator is a mechanism that creates the feelings of being to occupants in a moving vehicle. Many types of motion simulators or platforms have been developed in the area of aerospace or automobile. A single-seated motion simulator was developed according to the extension of amusement market. The personal simulator that is interactive with a personal computer can move with rolling or pitching motion by the control of a racing wheel or joystick. The dynamic behavior of the motion simulator was obtained by kinematic and multi-body dynamic analysis. Reaction forces and moments from the analysis were used to calculate the stress distribution of the base frame that is one of major structural parts of the simulator. The stress result represented that high stresses were concentrated on the connected parts with ribs.

This work shows how to create an algorithm and implementation for motion and image matching between a vehicle simulator and Unity 3D based virtual object. The motion information of the virtual vehicle is transmitted to the real simulator via a RS232 communication protocol, and the motion is controlled based on the inverse kinematics solution of the platform adopting rotary-type six actuators driving system. Wash-out filters to implement the effective motion of the motion platform are adopted, and thereby reduce the dizziness and increase the realistic sense of motion. Furthermore, the simulator system is successfully designed aiming to reducing size and cost with adaptation of rotary-type six actuators, real driving environment via VR (Virtual Reality), and control schemes which employ a synchronization between 6 motors and 3rd order motion profiles. By providing relatively big sense of motion particularly in impact and straight motions mainly causing simulator sickness, dizziness is remarkably reduced, thereby enhancing the sense of realistic motion.

A design methodology for parametric design optimization of washing machine door is presented. We develop a motion simulator and a robotic door to simulate the various motion of washing machine doors. The motion of the washing machine door is related to hinge parameters. Springs and dampers are usually used in the hinge of washing machine door for controlling motion of the door. A physical simulator of the door motion is used for finding candidate parameters of the hinge and a robotic door whose motion is controlled algorithmically is used for consumer tests. Through the consumer evaluation on the robotic motion, the optimized parameters are determined. We find the optimal parameters as a function of angle and angular velocity of the door.

This paper suggests a multiple robot simulator which considers the uncertainties in robot motion and sensing. A mobile robot moves with errors due to some kinds of uncertainties from actuators, wheels, electrical components, environments. In addition, sensors attached to a mobile robot can't make accurate output information because of uncertainties of the sensor itself and environment. Uncertainties in robot motion and sensing leads researchers find difficulty in building mobile robot navigation algorithms. Generally, a robot algorithm without considering unexpected uncertainties fails to control its action in a real working environment and it leads to some troubles and damages. Thus, the authors propose a simulator model which includes robot motion and sensing uncertainties to help making robust algorithms. Sensor uncertainties are applied in range sensors which are widely used in mobile robot localization, obstacle detection, and map building. The paper shows performances of the proposed simulator by comparing it with a simulator without any uncertainty.
