This study was to confirm the effect of supplementation of superjami bran extract on lipid and antioxidant metabolism. Twenty-five subjects were recruited, and divided into Superjami group (n=12), and Placebo group (n=13) random assignment. Among the groups, the Superjami group took a Superjami bran extract (2 g/2 capsule/day), and the Placebo group took dextrin (2 g/2 capsule/day), for 12 weeks. As a result of the experiment, concentrations of TG, TC, and HDL-C in the blood, were significantly lower than those in the control group, and HDL-C was significantly higher. AI and HTR also showed positive values. Leptin did not differ significantly, but as a result of adipectin, the Superjami group displayed a higher value, compared to the Placebo group, and LAR also had significantly lower value. Antioxidant results showed that GPx, CAT, and RGLU, were significantly higher before as well as after intakes of the Superjami group, and significantly higher levels of the Superjami group, compared to the Placebo group. AOPP showed significantly lower values for the Superjami group, compared to the Placebo group. So, based on this study, ingestion of Superjami bran extract is effective in improving blood lipid concentrations as well as inflammatory substances, and has positive effects relative to increasing antioxidant activity.
전통적인 교배육종을 통하여 천연색소(C3G) 함량을 높인 ‘슈퍼자미2호’(흑진주벼/수원 425호//대립벼 1호) 품종의 작물학적 특성과 품질특성을 조사 분석한 중부평야지에서 평균 출수기는 8월 30일로 만생종이며, 간장은 106 cm 정도이며 임실률은 82.0%였다. 또한 현미천립중은 30.1 g 정도로 ‘슈퍼자미’(26.2g)보다 무거운 품종이다. ‘슈퍼자미2호’ 품종의 현미 장폭비는 2.08의 장원형으로 흑진주벼에 비해 길이와 폭이 12%, 26%로 증가된 대립종이다. 미량원소 중 K, Ca 함량은 ‘흑진주벼’에 비해 낮았고, 단백질, 회분 함량도 낮게, 열량, 지방, 탄수화물 함량은 비슷한 수준으로 나타났다. ‘슈퍼자미2호’ 품종의 C3G 색소함량은 2013년에는 1,782 mg(100 g 종자), 2014년에는 1,980 mg(100 g 종자)으로서 ‘슈퍼자미’ 보다는 다소 낮았으나 ‘흑진주벼’ 보다는 9배 이상 높았다.
Superjami is a new rice breed resulted from crossing ‘C3GHi (has high amount of Cyanidin 3-glucoside, and was developed from a cross between ‘Heugjinjubyeo’ and ‘Suweon 425’) and ‘Daeribbyeo 1’. Superjami has 10.9 times higher C3G content compared with ‘Heugjinjubyeo’. It also contains the highest essential amino acids of all kinds (except tryptophan content).
This study was done to investigate the effects of extracts from superjami bran on the in-vitro antioxidant metabolism, in-vivo antioxidant metabolism and bone metabolism on menopause- induced condition in experimental rats. Overall, extract from superjami bran was confirmed of improving antioxidant and bone metabolism which can be considered as a good dietary supplement.
The ovariectomized Sprague-Dawley female rats were randomly assigned to Sham-Control, OVX-Control, OVX-Superjami (extract) groups. The results showed that the activity of glucokinase to keep the blood sugar constant is increased by increasing insulin secretion from pancreatic β- cells and the homeostatic regulation of glucose. Meanwhile the glyconeogenesis which is involved in the actions of the enzymes glucose-6-phosphatase and phosphoenolpyruvate carboxykinase showed that the glucose level is decreased. It was confirmed that these enzymes regulate the carbohydrate metabolism. On the other hand, results of the measurement of the lipid metabolism in the fat tissue and liver tissue, effect of β-oxidation enzymes and carnitine palmitoyl transferase which is involved in fatty acid oxidation for energy generation is increased. Moreover, the activity of fatty acid synthase, glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase and malic enzyme have been reduced, therefore, it was confirmed that these enzymes regulate the lipid metabolism.
