This paper reviews the revisions of the National Curriculum of English, featuring the characteristics of each revision on which the government educational policies have been heavily reflected. On the basis of the analysis of a variety of literature on the National Curriculum and of Korea's sociopolitical and educational surroundings, points that need improving plus future directions of Korea's English education are presented in a summarizing manner. It was revealed that education in Korea has been heavily influenced by politics. This was inevitable in some way, but it seems necessary to make every effort to let education come before politics.

The purpose of the study is to examine if there is any difference in Korean college students revisions of their free journal writing in response to indirect (coded correction) and direct error feedback (explicit correction). Through careful examination of their 60 pieces of revised texts, it was revealed that the students who received direct error feedback were more actively engaged in rewriting their first piece. More specifically, the students revised their writing at a meaning level, deleting and adding words, phrases, or sentences, whereas the students who received indirect error feedback tended to focus on the errors marked by codes. In addition, the students in the direct feedback group often missed the corrected forms or words while the students in the indirect feedback group avoided correcting errors marked by the teacher or tried to correct other parts of the sentence with the erroneous forms or vocabulary left in it. These results suggest that second language (L2) writing teachers should choose an appropriate error feedback method depending on the relative merits of each type of error feedback and the purpose of the writing class.

소하천설계기준은 소하천 정비를 위한 각종 조사 및 측량, 소하천의 특성을 고려한 설계수문량 산정방법, 그리고 시설물의 계획·설계 및 유지관리에 관한 전반적인 내용을 포함하고 있어 종합적인 소하천의 기능을 고려한 정비사업을 수행하는데 있어 지침서의 역할을 하여야 한다. 소하천설계기준은 기존에는 소하천시설기준으로 불리워졌으며 1999년 이후 개정작업이 없어 정비사업과 관련된 다양한 여건 변화와 관련 기술적인 발전을 고려할 때 개정작업의 필요성이 강조되어 왔다. 새로운 소하천설계기준은 소하천 공간이 주변 자연환경과 조화되면서 친수공간기능 회복 및 홍수분담 능력 제고가 가능하도록 하는데 실질적인 역할을 할 수 있도록 하는 각종 기술적 근거를 제공하고 있으며, 최근까지 이루어진 소하천의 계획 및 설계와 관련된 다양한 기술발전의 내용들을 집적하여 소하천의 다양성을 기술적으로 적절히 고려하고자 하였다. 이러한 기준은 앞으로 소하천 및 주변에서 발생할 것으로 예상되는 다양한 형태의 재해를 예방하고 관리할 뿐만 아니라 아름다운 소하천 가꾸기 사업에도 기여할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.
