바위떡풀 분화용 신품종 ‘스타플라워(Starflower)’는 핑크색 품종인 주노(朱鷺)를 모본으로 밝은 핑크색 품 종인 홍완(紅完)을 부본으로 하여 2004년 인공 교배하 여 2005년~2007년까지 온실재배를 하면서 특성검정을 한 후 최종적으로 화색, 화형 및 초형이 우수한 신품 종으로 출원하여 2011년 품종보호권이 등록되었다. ‘스타플라워’ 품종의 꽃은 10월 3일부터 피기 시작 하여 10월 하순까지 약 26일간 지속되며 꽃은 85개 정도이고 화경수는 6.4개로 많으며 화경장은 15.5 cm 로 적당하였다. 꽃은 진한 분홍색(R-P 67C)이며 꽃 길이 3.3 cm, 폭이 3.1 cm 정도이고 꽃잎 수는 6.0개 로 불규칙적이며 잎 길이는 5.0 cm, 폭은 5.5 cm로 컸으며 엽수는 44.0개 적었다.
A new Saxifraga fortunei cultivar ‘Starflower’ was bred by crossing between ‘Juno’ with pink (RP N66A) colored petals and ‘Hongan with pink (RP N66A) colored petals. The selection of promising lines and characterization of flowers were conducted from 2004 to 2007 year in greenhouse of the Highland Agriculture Research Center, NICS, RDA. The flowering of ‘Starflower’ showed from October 3 during 26 days, The number of flowers per plant are 84.7 ea. with many flowering habit. The flower showed to dark pink (R-P 67C) color at opening, The number of petals have 6.0 ea., and its flower width was 3.1 cm and flower length 3.3 cm. Its Flower stem length was 15.5 cm and leaf length was 5.0 cm and leaf width was 5.5 cm, and number of leaves were 44.0 ea.. ‘Starflower’ cultivar can be used for pot flower. Fifty percent shading is a good cultural practice against direct sunlight and soft rot disease would occurs usually by overirrigation. ‘Crystal’ cultivar was registered as a new variety with No. 3463 in Korea seed and variety service on April of 2011 year.
