1920년대나 1930년대에 日常으로 쓰이던 漢字어휘 상당수를 지금은 사용하는 이를 찾아보기 어렵다.漢字語만 사라지는 것이 아니다.‘險-머흐러울 험’,‘危-바드라울 위’,‘疲-시드러울 피’,‘匡-바룰 광’과 같이 漢字학습을 통해서 익힐 수 있는 고유어도 함께 사라져 간다.이것이 漢字를 버린 오늘의 韓國語모습이다.이제 漢字語든 固有語든 韓國語資産을 예전처럼 되살리기는 어려울지도 모른다.그러나 길은 있다고 생각한다.그것은 바로 ‘漢字敎育을 통한 國語敎育正常化’다.여러 가지 방법을 찾을 수 있을 것이다.漢字를 이용한 카드놀이,노래하듯 가르치는 한자학습 등은 이미 일부에서 시행되고 있다.그런데 우리는 너무 쉽게만 가르치려 한다.漢字는 분명히 어려운 것이다.그것을 쉽다고 한다.아이들이 쉽다고 생각하고 漢字학습을 시작했다면 머지않아 지루해하고 어려워 할 것이다.우리는 먼저 아이들에게 “漢字는 어려운 것이다.그러나 數學이나 영어보다는 쉽다.어렵고 지루한 과정을 참고 精進하는 것이 배움의 길이요,학문의 길이다.”라는 것을 말해 줄 수 있어야 한다.조상들께서 漢字를 사용하시던 漢字學習방법은 오늘에도 훌륭한 敎授法이다.그러나 이제는 전통학습이 어떤 것인지도 아는 이가 드물다.拙稿졸고는 전통 蒙學敎材몽학교재를 활용한 학습 방법을 현대화하여 適用할 수 있는 方案을 모색해 보자는 생각에서 쓰였다.물론 지금의 아이들은 예전에 漢文만 반복적으로 외워서 文理가 트이던 학동들과는 여러 가지 여건이 다르다.다른 공부가 많다고 하여도 數學이나 英語를 배우기 위해 쏟는 노력의 10%만이라도 漢字敎育에 마음 쓴다면 數學도 쉬워지고 다른 모든 敎科의 용어를 이해하는 데도 절대적인 효과를 발휘한다.本稿에 관해 여러 異見이 있을 수는 있겠지만 우리의 목표는 같다.아직은 어떤 敎授法이 더 나은가에 관해 결론을 내릴 때는 아니다.역할을 分擔분담해서라도 여러 가지 교수법을 연구할 필요가 있다.이 論考가 그 여러 가지 실험 대상 중의 하나로서 하나의 실마리를 제공할 수 있다면 필자의 福일 것이다.

A lot of Hanja(Chinese character) vocabulary which had often been used in 1920's to 1930's is not found any more. Not only Hanjaeo but also Goyueo like 險-머흐러울 험’, ‘危-바드라울 위’, ‘疲-시드러울 피’, ‘匡-바룰 광 disappears because studying Hanja could help to learn Goyueo. This is Korean language features of today when Hanja is separated from Korean language. Now it may be difficult to restore Hanjaeo or Goyueo like former times. However, there is a way. It is 'the normalization of Korean language education through studying Hanja.' Various kinds of methods can be founded. Some Hanja learning methods like a card game using Hanja, studying with a chant, and so on are already put into practice. The problem is we want to teach it with a too easy way. Hanja is clearly difficult, but we say it is easy. If children thought Hanja was easy and started to study it, they would feel tedious and difficult soon. We have to say, "Hanja is difficult. However, it is easier than mathematics or English. You can learn and study when you go through with the difficult and boring stage." The Hanja teaching method used by our ancestors is also excellent one these days although now there are few people who know what the traditional learning way is. This research was aimed at groping for devices which can modernize the traditional learning methods using 몽학교재(juvenile teaching materials) and apply them. Children of today have different circumstances from ones of old who memorized Chinese writing repeatedly and realized a profound acquaintance with the construction. They would feel
mathematics is easy and understand other subjects much better if 10 percent of the efforts of studying English and mathematic was made to study Hanja. There can be various different views about this research. We, however, have the same aims. It is not yet the time we decided that what kind of instruction method is better. We need to research many kinds of teaching methods even though we share the role. It can be happy if this paper as one of the various experimental objects leads to study Hanja learning methods for children.
