본 연구의 목적은 중․고등학교 체육교사들이 중요하게 생각하는 인성의 덕목과 효율적인 인성교육의 실천방안에 관한 개방형 자료를 수집하여 분석하는 것이었다. 중등학교 체육교사 110명(남; 90, 여; 20)을 대상으로 개방형 설문지를 실시하여 총 499개의 반응이 수집되었다. 수집된 자료는 3단계 주제별 범주분석을 통해 빈도분석과 내용분석이 이루어졌다. 분석 결과, 인성의 중요한 하위 덕목에는 공정성, 정직성, 존중심, 준법정신, 책임감, 대인관계, 리더십, 양보, 예의, 용기, 인내심, 자기희생, 충성심, 합리성, 협동심 등 총 15개의 요인이 도출되었고, 이들 중 도덕적 인성의 존중심과 사회적 인성의 협동심이 체육교사가 가장 중요하게 생각하는 요인으로 나타났다. 효율적인 인성교육의 실천방안에는 교수전략 개발, 수업환경 조성, 효율적인 수업관리와 체육시설 확보에 관한 교수-학습 요인이 가장 높았고, 교사의 자질, 긍정적 역할, 자기반성과 노력에 관한 교사 요인, 그리고 체육수업내용의 다양화와 새로운 프로그램 개발과 관련된 요인의 순으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과는 체육교육을 통한 인성교육의 재개념화 작업이 요구되며 향후 인성교육을 효율적으로 실천할 수 있는 다양한 교수-학습방법 개발이 요구되고 있음을 시사한다.
The purpose of this study was to analyze the values of character and its effective ways of execution that middle school physical education teachers have recognized to be important through their physical education. A total of 110 participants (male=90, female=20) responded an open-ended questionnaire on character education. A total of 499 responses were recorded and content-analyzed. Fifteen values of character emerged, including fairness, honesty, respect, respect for law, responsibility, interpersonal relationship, leadership, concession, courtesy, courage, perseverance, self-sacrifice, loyalty, rationality, cooperation. The participants considered respect and cooperation as the most important values of character education. Concrete plans for teaching character education effectively included teaching-learning, teacher's education, and learning contents or program for physical education. This results reflected the necessity for re-conceptualizing character education through physical activities and developing various teaching-learning methods which can practice character education effectively.
