남명학 연구의 새로운 돌파구를 마련하기 위하여, 우리는 남명학의 대중성과 실천성을 염두에 두지 않을 수 없다. 본고는 바로 이러한 측면에서 남명의 합천 유적을 주목한 것이다. 합천지역의 주요 남명 유적은 12개소이다. 삼가면 5개소, 합천읍 2개소, 쌍책면 2개소, 가야·용주·대병면 각 1개소가 그것이다. 이 가운데 삼가면은 남명의 탄생지이자 남명이 뇌룡정과 계부당을 지어놓고 강학을 하였던 곳이니 특별히 주목할 필요가 있다. 이들 유적에는 복원된 생가처럼 유적으로 남은 곳도 있고, 이영공유애비처럼 비의 형태로 남아 있는 곳도 있으며, 함벽루처럼 문학경관으로 남아 있는 곳도 있다. 남명 유적은 이처럼 매우 다양한 형태로 존재한다. 남명의 합천 유적에는 남명학의 주요 부면들이 잘 드러나 있다. 탄생지에서는 위대한 학자의 등장에 대한 예감, 뇌룡정과 함벽루에서의 부동과 역동이라는 남명 자아의 역설구도, 부모 묘비에서의 과장되지 않는 효심, 황강정과 사미정에서의 진정성 있는 우정, 이영공유애비에 나타나는 관료와 백성의 이상적 관계, ｢을묘사직소｣에서의 비판적 현실인식 등이 그것이다. 합천지역 남명 유적에 대한 활용 방안으로는 뇌룡정에서의 神性 찾기 프로그램 개발, 합천의 내외적 연계망을 활용한 남명학 문화탐방 노선 개발, 함벽루를 중심으로 한 회통 문화의 재구성 등을 꼽을 수 있다. 이로써 합천 공간을 중심으로 남명학의 핵심은 더욱 부각될 수 있을 것으로 본다.

It is inevitable to keep the popularity and practicability of Nammyung studies in mind in order to make a new breakthrough in the study of Nammyung studies. In this aspect, this study focused on Nammyung's relics in Hapcheon. There are 12 major relics of Nammyung in the Hapcheon area including five in Samga-myeon, two in Hapcheon-eup, two in Ssangchaek-myeon, and one in Gaya-, Yongju- and Daebyeong-myeon. Of these places, Samga-myeon deserves special attention as the birthplace of Nammyung and the place where he pursued study after building Noiryongjeong and Gyebudang. Some of the relics are in the form of restored house of his birth; others in the form of a monument like Iyeonggongyuaebi; and still others in the form of literary scenery like Hambyeokru. Nammyung's relics exist in very diverse forms. The major aspects of Nammyung studies are well revealed in his relics in Hapcheon. They include a prediction of a great scholar at his birthplace, the paradoxical structure of his ego between Budong and Yeokdong at Noiryongjeong and Hambyeokru, his unexaggerated love for his parents on their tombstones, his sincere friendship at Hwanggangjeong and Samijeong, ideal relations between government officials and the people in Iyeonggongyuaebi, and his critical perception of the reality in Eulmyosajikso. Based on these, the study made proposals for the utilization of his relics in Hapcheon: a program of finding divine nature at Noiryongjeong, a route to explore the culture of Nammyung studies based on Hapcheon's internal and external network, and the reorganization of the Hoitong culture around Hambyeokru. These measures will help Nammyung studies based on space secure practicability as well as popularity.
