        We determined complete mitochondrial genome of Erpobdella sp. isolated in Korea. The circular mitochondrial genome of Erpobdella sp. is 15,469 bp long, which is longer than other three complete mitochondrial genomes of Erpobdella species. It includes 13 protein-coding genes, two ribosomal RNA genes, and 22 transfer RNAs. Its GC ratio is 30.2%. Phylogenetic trees show that our mitochondrial genome is clustered in Erpobdellidae clade.

        Endosymbionts of the genus Buchnera, which belong to γ-Proteobacteria, reside in specialized cells known as bacteriocytes. In this announcement, we present the complete genome sequence of Buchnera aphidicola (Aphis gossypii) isolated from Aphis gossypii with Plantago asiatica. The genome spans 628,098 base pairs and has a GC content of 25.4%. A total of 589 CDs, 32 tRNAs, and 3 rRNAs were predicted. Interestingly, the evolutionary rate of the endosymbiont's genome, inferred from intraspecific variations, may be slower than that of the host's mitochondrial genome.

        This study examines the volatilization of alkali elements on the surfaces of ceramic targets and in the deposited films during the deposition of potassium sodium niobate (KNN) thin films using a ceramic target with the nominal composition K0.55Na0.55NbO3 via a RF magnetron sputtering process. Under a 100 W RF power condition, significant volatilization of alkali elements occurred on the surface of the ceramic target, resulting in the inevitable formation of a Nb-rich secondary phase in the thin films. However, perovskite-phase KNN thin films with excellent reproducibility and without secondary phases were obtained under 50 W RF power and a substrate temperature of 600 °C. When the RF power was reduced to 20 W or the substrate temperature was lowered to 500 °C under 50 W RF power, no crystalline thin films could be obtained. Additionally, when the substrate temperature was raised to 700 °C under 50 W RF power, the niobium-rich secondary phase appeared in the thin films due to the volatilization of alkali elements. The conditions of 50 W RF power and a substrate temperature of 600 °C were found to be optimal for depositing perovskite-phase KNN thin films. However, complete suppression of potassium volatilization from the thin films was not achievable. Consequently, the resulting films had a sodium-rich composition compared to K0.5Na0.5NbO3 and exhibited lower dielectric constants along with relaxor ferroelectric characteristics. This study highlights the importance of monitoring the compositional changes in ceramic targets during the RF sputtering process to ensure high reproducibility in KNN thin film fabrication.

        본 연구는 기능성 화장품 소재 개발을 목표로 효모 유래 MPC의 세포 생리활성을 조사하였 다. 피부 세포주에 처리된 Cu와 Zn 이온 모두 세포 독성이 확인되었지만, 정제된 MPC는 결합된 금속 이온의 세포 독성을 획기적으로 제거하였다. 게다가 특정 농도의 MPC는 대조군과 비교하여 세포 생존 율을 오히려 약 20% 증가시켰다. MPC 중 효모 펩타이드-Cu(YP-Cu)는 UVB 자극으로 유도되는 세포 내 활성산소의 양을 약 30% 정도 유의하게 감소시켰지만, YP-Zn은 영향을 미치지 못했다. 또한, YP-Cu 처리는 피부 세포에서 콜라겐 유전자의 발현량을 2배 증가시켰고, 프로콜라겐 분비량은 1.7배 증 가시켰으며, UVB 자극에 의한 콜라겐 유전자의 발현 저해에도 효과적으로 대응했다. 결론적으로, 유리 금속 이온 자체는 세포독성 효과로 인해 화장품 소재에 적합하지 않지만, 정제된 MPC, 특히 YP-Cu는 이러한 금속 이온의 독성을 효과적으로 상쇄하고 세포 생존율을 향상시킬 뿐만 아니라, UVB 자극에 따 른 유해 효과를 완화하기 때문에 잠재적 기능성 화장품 소재로 사용될 수 있다.

        This study explores trends in skincare products for pregnant women using text mining to analyze consumer preferences for safety and functionality. Data were collected from Naver blogs, cafes, and Facebook between September 2023 and August 2024 and processed using the Textom platform. Through text mining and semantic network analysis, 50 significant keywords were selected, and centrality measurements such as degree and eigenvector centrality were applied to assess keyword importance. CONCOR analysis categorized these keywords into structural equivalence groups, revealing key consumer priorities, including ingredient safety, moisturizing properties, and product recommendations. The findings highlight the growing demand for dual-purpose skincare products suitable for both pregnant women and infants, as well as the increasing influence of consumer reviews in product selection. Academically, this research underscores the effectiveness of text mining in understanding niche consumer markets. However, the study's reliance on specific online platforms presents a limitation, as it may not fully represent broader consumer preferences. Future research should incorporate diverse data sources and quantitative analyses to further validate product efficacy and consumer satisfaction.

        본 연구는 가치기반수용모델을 바탕으로 AI 기반 맞춤형 화장품 추천 서비스의 지각된 가치와 이용의도에 미치는 영향 요인을 규명하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 설문지 241부를 수집하여 SPSS 27.0으로 빈도분석, 요인분석, 신뢰도 분석, 상관관계분석, 회귀분석을 실시하였다. 첫째, 유용성과 즐거움은 지각된 가치에 정(+)적 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 복잡성은 지각된 가치에 부(-)적 영향을 미치는 것 으로 나타났으나, 위험성은 유의한 영향을 미치지 않는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 지각된 가치는 이용의도에 정(+)적 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 그러므로 지각적 가치와 이용의도를 증진시키기 위해서는 유용한 정보롸 흥미를 유발할 수 있는 재미 요소를 제공하고, 복잡한 과정을 간단하게 축소할 필요가 있다.

        In this study, we aimed to understand the effects of pest control on forest ecosystems by examining the populations of beetles, a bioindicator species, in pine wilt disease-affected areas. Density and diversity of beetles at the pest control (sites 1 and 2) and control (site 3) sites were compared. Site 1 contained 247 individuals of 11 species from 5 families, site 2 contained 461 individuals of 19 species from 9 families, and control site 3 contained 511 individuals of 19 species from 9 families. The following main species were collected from each site: 34 pine jewel beetles(Chalcophora japonica) in June, 23 red flat bark beetles(Synuchus cycloderus) in August, and 42 red flat bark beetles in September from site 1, 46 pine jewel beetles in June, 36 elegant beetles(Carabus jankowskii) in August, and 21 elegant beetles in September from site 2, and 31 red ground beetles(Coptolabrus smaragdinus) in June, 56 two-spotted dust beetles(Planetes puncticeps) in August, and 30 two-spotted dust beetles in September from site 3. Furthermore, diversity, evenness, and dominance indices were analyzed for all beetles collected from the pest control and control sites. Site 1 exhibited a diversity index of 0.706, evenness index of 0.711, and dominance index of 0.161. Site 2 exhibited a diversity index of 1.115, evenness index of 0.872, and dominance index of 0.097. Site 3 exhibited a diversity index of 1.101, evenness index of 0.861, and dominance index of 0.102. Similarity index was 47.4% between sites 1 and 2, 33.3% between sites 1 and 3, and 40.0% between sites 2 and 3.

        This study investigates the effectiveness of self-correction in improving lexical stress placement among Korean English learners, a critical yet challenging feature for speakers of Korean, which lacks lexical stress contrasts. Grounded in Schmidt’s (1990) Noticing Hypothesis, the research compares the benefits of self-correction— where learners reflect on and correct their own pronunciation errors —with the shadowing technique. Forty-seven college students participated, with an experimental group practicing self-correction and a control group engaged in shadowing. Pre- and post-test analyses revealed that the self-correction group demonstrated significantly greater improvement, particularly with trisyllabic and tetrasyllabic words, while the shadowing group showed minimal change. These findings highlight self-correction’s role in promoting learner engagement, error awareness, and deeper cognitive processing, offering practical implications for pronunciation instruction that emphasizes learner autonomy and focused attention.

        This study investigates the factors influencing the seed longevity of Quercus myrsinifolia, a species with recalcitrant seeds highly sensitive to desiccation and freezing. The effects of moisture content, seed collection date, and storage methods on seed viability were analyzed using exponential decay modeling. Interactions between these factors were also explored to refine conservation strategies. Seeds with moisture content above 40% demonstrated a predicted seed longevity of 2.19 years, whereas those with moisture content below 30% had seed longevity of less than 1 year. Late-season seeds collected in November and December exhibited superior germination percentages and longer predicted seed longevity (1.32 years) compared to early-season seeds collected in September and October (<1 year). In seed weight, large seeds (2.0 g) showed longer predicted seed longevity about 1.5 times greater than that of small seeds (<1.2g). Storage methods significantly affected seed longevity, with refrigerator (4°C) with silica gel maintaining viability for 2–3 years, while seeds stored at room temperature (25°C) exhibited a seed longevity of less than 1 year. Silica gel was found to prevent seed deterioration due to over-desiccation, emphasizing the importance of balanced moisture regulation. Q. myrsinifolia seeds exhibited 𝑏 values ranging from 0.30 to 2.04, demonstrating a close relationship between decay constant, moisture content, storage conditions, and seed longevity. These findings provide critical insights into optimizing seed storage and propagation strategies for Q. myrsinifolia, contributing to its conservation and ecological restoration efforts.

        본 연구는 신생 벤처 기업의 수출 과정에서 벤처 기업가의 인식(i.e., 인식된 경쟁)과 편향(i.e., 기업가적 경쟁 낙관주의)이 어떤 역할을 하는지 이해하고자 한다. 우리는 신생 벤처 기업이 자국 내에서 높은 경쟁을 인식할수록 이를 회피하기 위해 해외 시장으로 진출할 가능성이 높아질 것이 며, 이 과정에서 자국 내에서 자신들의 경쟁적 위치를 얼마나 낙관적으로 인지하는지가 중요한 영 향을 미친다고 가정한다. 26개 전환 경제국을 대상으로 한 실증 분석의 결과는 우리의 아이디어를 뒷받침한다. 구체적으로, 자국 내에서 높은 경쟁을 인식하는 신생 벤처 기업은 경쟁을 회피하기 위 해 수출을 확대하는 경향이 있었다. 반면, 자국 내에서 기업가적 경쟁 낙관주의를 가진 신생 벤처 기업은 수출을 줄이는 경향을 보였다. 마지막으로, 기업가적 경쟁 낙관주의는 인식된 경쟁과 수출 간의 관계를 약화시키는 조절 변수로 작용하는 것으로 나타났다.

        Occupational therapy aims to restore patients’ functional abilities through rehabilitation, with dressing activities being a critical component in activities of daily living assessments. Clothing is essential for physical protection, psychological stability, and promoting social participation. Despite the significance of dressing activities, research on training apparel incorporating occupational therapy principles remains limited. As a preliminary step in developing apparel for dressing activity training, this study aims to identify essential design elements that facilitate in daily living training and hold potential in occupational therapy. A comprehensive literature review and case analysis were conducted to identify essential clothing design components. The research results are as follows. The design features a pattern with a front-center opening, generous armholes, and ease allowances, along with modular components that enable variable collar and pocket configurations. A designated weight pocket is seamlessly integrated without restricting movement. Fabric selections emphasize human safety, comfort, stability, and durability, providing a soft texture and a broad range of color options within the modular design. Additional details include detachable collar and pocket elements, while trims and accessories are executed with buttons or zippers for closure and utilize Velcro, buckles, buttons, or drawstrings for size adjustments, all available in a variety of colors and sizes. This study highlights the need for modular, userfriendly training apparel that support occupational therapy goals. The findings provide fundamental insights into dressing activity training wear, serving as a foundational resource for future research and clinical applications.

        온실 내부 환경은 지역에 따라 외부 환경의 영향을 지속적으로 받는다. 본 연구는 몽골, UAE(아부다비), 호 주(퀸슬란드) 등 지역별로 구축된 한국형 스마트 온실의 환경 특성을 비교하고자 수행하였다. 몽골과 아부다비의 온실 모두 내외부 엔탈피 차이가 감소함에 따라 환기율이 증가하였다. 아부다비의 반밀폐형 온실에서는 10시부터 14시까지 평균 내부 기온이 외부 기온보다 약 7-10°C 낮았고 내부 VPD(12mbar)는 외부 VPD(56mbar)보다 4.6 배 낮았는데 이 결과는 포그 시스템 운영과 관련이 있는 것으로 보인다. 퀸즐랜드 온실의 경우, 내부 온도가 외부 온 도보다 11시 기준 약 3.81°C 높았고, 내부 엔탈피와 VPD가 외부 온도보다 높았으며, 내부와 외부의 엔탈피 차이가 증가함에 따라 환기율이 증가하였다. 이 결과로 엔탈피를 낮추는 것은 환기와, VPD를 낮추는 것은 포그 시스템 작 동과 관련이 있는 것을 알 수 있다. 또한, 작물 생육에 적합한 환경 조건을 효과적으로 관리하기 위해 엔탈피와 VPD 기반의 포그, 환기 또는 난방 시스템이 필요하다는 것을 알 수 있다.

        This paper introduces a simple and reliable photometric calibration method to extract Hα line flux from narrowband images. The equivalent width of the Hα line (EWHα) is derived using two- and simplified three-filter methods. Synthetic photometry of CALSPEC stars demonstrates the dependency of EWHα on the V − R color, described by a skewed Gaussian function within −0.1 < V − R < 0.7. Systematic errors of the two- and three-filter methods are analyzed under 0%–10% R-band flux contamination. Although the three-filter method underestimates EWHα by 10%, it exhibits less scatter compared to the two-filter method. The simplified three-filter method was validated with the Landolt SA 107 field and surpasses the two-filter method in terms of precision and accuracy. Additionally, applying our method to V960 Mon yields EWHα consistent with high-resolution spectroscopic results.

        This study analyzes the expressive characteristics of fashion design through sensory experiences, focusing on the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s exhibition Sleeping beauties: Reawakening fashion. It aims to explore the creative and innovative potential of fashion design that utilizes sensory experiences while proposing new directions for future fashion exhibitions and the design field. The research scope includes 220 garments and accessories featured in the exhibition. Based on theoretical considerations and case studies, this research classifies and examines fashion design characteristics from the perspectives of olfactory, tactile, visual, auditory, and multi-sensory experiences. The findings indicate that olfactory experiences enhance emotional engagement by integrating fragrance with storytelling, while tactile ones increase immersion through fabric texture and structural elements. Visual experiences strengthen aesthetic appeal and narrative through various digital technologies and lighting effects, while auditory ones convey the emotional messages of fashion design using sound and music. Additionally, multi-sensory experiences combine multiple sensory elements to provide viewers with an immersive, multidimensional experience. This study confirms that sensory experiences expand the creative possibilities of fashion design and suggests new exhibition strategies that integrate sustainability and digital technology. Beyond simple stimuli, sensory experiences foster emotional connections and contribute to enhancing fashion design’s artistic and cultural value. Therefore, this research highlights the importance of integrating sensory experiences with creative approaches and technological convergence to amplify the social and artistic impact of fashion design.

        In this study, we examine the relationships between the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) space weather scale frequencies and the maximum monthly sunspot number in each solar cycle: 1975 to 2020 for radio blackouts (R scales) and solar radiation storms (S scales), 1932 to 2020 for geomagnetic storms (G scales). Our main results are as follows. First, we find that NOAA space weather scale frequencies have strong solar cycle dependencies. Second, we propose new linear relationships between the frequency of certain scales (R1 to R4, and G1 to G4) and the maximum monthly sunspot number. T-test results show that R1 to R3 and G1 to G4 relationships are statistically meaningful, but marginal for R4. Third, our results significantly reduce the root-mean-square error (RMSE) between observed and suggested frequencies compared to the NOAA’s current frequencies. For example, in the case of solar cycle 24, our new prediction (74) for R3 scale is much more consistent with the observational frequency (74) than the NOAA prediction (175), and our prediction (85) for G3 scale is much closer to the observation (40) than the NOAA prediction (200). Our work may provide a useful guideline for advancing the space weather scales.

        This study analyzes the participants’ purchasing and wearing conditions of Jiu-Jitsu uniforms, identifying issues with current designs and proposing improvements. Data were collected from 160 participants through an online survey from April 15 to May 20, 2024. Frequency, cross-tabulation analyses, and one-way ANOVA were performed using SPSS 29.0. The survey included questions related to participants’ general information, uniform purchasing behavior, satisfaction with Jiu-Jitsu uniforms, preferred brands, and sizing, and fit satisfaction. The results revealed that most male participants were in their 30s, while female participants were in their 20s. A higher proportion of males were overweight, while females were likelier to have a normal BMI. Participants generally owned 3–6 uniforms, most purchases in the 160,000–200,000 KRW price range. International brands were preferred, and participants selected uniforms based on fit, quality, and design. The most common sizes were A1 and A1L, with overweight and obese participants tending to opt for additional size options. Key improvement areas included pants length and waist width. The findings highlight the need for unisex pattern designs for individuals in the B range (160–170cm) and patterns specifically designed for overweight males in the C range (170–180cm). This study provides valuable insights into Jiu-Jitsu uniform preferences and body typespecific requirements, offering foundational data for enhancing uniform design and functionality.

        Galaxy evolution studies require the measurement of the physical properties of galaxies at different redshifts. In this work, we build supervised machine learning models to predict the redshift and physical properties (gas-phase metallicity, stellar mass, and star formation rate) of star-forming galaxies from the broad-band and medium-band photometry covering optical to near-infrared wavelengths, and present an evaluation of the model performance. Using 55 magnitudes and colors as input features, the optimized model can predict the galaxy redshift with an accuracy of σ(Δz/1+z) = 0.008 for a redshift range of z < 0.4. The gas-phase metallicity [12 + log(O/H)], stellar mass [log(Mstar)], and star formation rate [log(SFR)] can be predicted with the accuracies of σNMAD = 0.081, 0.068, and 0.19 dex, respectively. When magnitude errors are included, the scatter in the predicted values increases, and the range of predicted values decreases, leading to biased predictions. Near-infrared magnitudes and colors (H, K, and H −K), along with optical colors in the blue wavelengths (m425–m450), are found to play important roles in the parameter prediction. Additionally, the number of input features is critical for ensuring good performance of the machine learning model. These results align with the underlying scaling relations between physical parameters for star-forming galaxies, demonstrating the potential of using medium-band surveys to study galaxy scaling relations with large sample of galaxies.

        We introduce a new clustering algorithm, MulGuisin (MGS), that can identify distinct galaxy over-densities using topological information from the galaxy distribution. This algorithm was first introduced in an LHC experiment as a Jet Finder software, which looks for particles that clump together in close proximity. The algorithm preferentially considers particles with high energies and merges them only when they are closer than a certain distance to create a jet. MGS shares some similarities with the minimum spanning tree (MST) since it provides both clustering and network-based topology information. Also, similar to the density-based spatial clustering of applications with noise (DBSCAN), MGS uses the ranking or the local density of each particle to construct clustering. In this paper, we compare the performances of clustering algorithms using controlled data and some realistic simulation data as well as the SDSS observation data, and we demonstrate that our new algorithm finds networks most correctly and defines galaxy networks in a way that most closely resembles human vision.

        This study focused on Issey Miyake’s 14 womenswear collections from spring 2018 to fall 2024. Reviews and reports on these collections and the designer were collected from the American Vogue and the Women’s Wear Daily websites using the keyword “Issey Miyake.” Drawing upon the dress criticism model, this study analyzed the form of Miyake’s fashion designs identifying styles, descriptive features, and aesthetic values through the collection photographs. Implicit evaluations were derived through external interpretations and sociocultural analysis based on reviews and reports of Miyake’s collections and designs. The results were as follows: Miyake’s fashion design is avant-garde in style. Descriptively, Miyake introduced variations in silhouette through the three-dimensionality of pleats, exploring a new sculptural order. The aesthetic values of Miyake’s works extend beyond the fashion show realm, embodying natural beauty wearable in daily life, artistic beauty through the three-dimensionality of pleats, and a pursuit of new aesthetic values challenging existing systems and traditional norms. Externally interpreted, Issey Miyake is recognized for his diverse, practical, and innovative designs, and as the first Japanese designer to present shows in Paris. Sociocultural interpretations characterize of Issey Miyake’s works as a blend of tradition and modernity, an expansion of form through pleats and three-dimensional sculptural qualities, the result of ongoing research and development, possessing timeless qualities transcending eras, and a pursuit of practicality and artistic excellence.

        Background: The increasing demand for real-time professional fitness coaching has led to a need for accurate exercise posture recognition using artificial intelligence. Objectives: To compare the performance of Feedforward Neural Network (FNN) and Stacked Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) models in classifying fitness posture images using detailed joint coordinate labeling. Design: Comparative analysis of machine learning models using a labeled dataset of fitness posture images. Methods: A dataset from AI-hub containing images and data of 41 exercises was used. Five exercises were selected and processed using a custom program. Data was converted from JSON to CSV format, augmented with joint condition information, and analyzed using Google Colab. Results: The best FNN model achieved a training error of 1.21% and test error of 9.08%. The Stacked LSTM model demonstrated superior performance with a training error of 1.05% and test error of 6.09%. Conclusion: Both FNN and Stacked LSTM models effectively classified sequential fitness images, with Stacked LSTM showing superior performance. This indicates the potential of Stacked LSTM models for accurate fitness posture classification in real-time coaching scenarios.
