        In this paper we present a newly improved telescope control software and a newly developed data analysis software package for effective use of the Solar Flare Telescope(SOFT) The telescope control software permits us to make not only auto tacking of the SOFT, but also quantitative measurement of the solar irradiation, allowing us to provide weather monitorings. In addition we introduce an IDL widget software package for both monochromatioc (MONO version) and polarimetric data (VMG version) analysis. The MONO version is capable of loading FITS files, changing colors and contrast, image processing, displaying plots, and saving displayed plots by selected formats The VMG version, on the other hand provides a calibration of polarimetric data and plots of reduced vector magnetic fields.

        We have intensively carried out numerical calculations on flare predictions from the solar activity data for photospheric sunspots, chromospheric flare and plages, coronal X-ray intensities and 2800MHz radio fluxes, by using multilinear regression method. Intensities of solar flares for the next day have been predicted from the solar data between 1977-1982 and 1993-1996. Firstly, we have calculated flare predictions with the multilinear regression method, by using separate solar data in growth and decay phase of sunspot area and magnetic field strength from the whole data on solar activities. Secondly, the same operations as above have been made for the remaining data after removal of the data with large deviation from the mean calculated by the above prediction method. we have reached a conclusion that average hit ratio of correct predictions to total predictions of flares with class of M5 over has been as high as 70% for the first case and that of correct prediction number to total observation number has been shown as 61%.

        We have developed a graphic software for image processing of astronomical data obtained by observational equipment in Astronomical Observatory of Kyung Hee University. The essential hardware for running our computer program is simply composed of a PC with the graphic card to handle 256 colors and the color graphic monitor, including CCD camera system. Our software has been programmed in WINDOWS to provide good environments for users, by using various techniques of image processing on astronomical image data recorded in FITS format by KHCCD program(Jin and Kim, 1994) with a compressional mode. We are convinced that our results will be a fundamental and useful technique in the construction of data processing system and can be effectively used in any other observatories, as well as in data processing system of Kyung Hee University.

        This paper deals with the effect of spatial distribution of material properties on its statistical characteristics and numerical estimation method of reliability of fatigue sensitive structures with respect to the fatigue crack growth. A method is proposed to determine experimentally the probability distribution functions of material parameters of Paris law. da/dN=C(ΔK/K sub(0) ) super(m), using stress intensity factor controlled fatigue tests. The result with a high tensile strength steel shows that the distribution of the parameter m is approximately normal and that of 1/C, is a 3-parameter Weibull. The main result obtained are : (1) The theoretical autocorrelation of the resistance, 1/C, to fatigue crack growth are almost same for different lengths. (2) The variance decreases with the increasing a averaging length. When spatial correlation length is very small. the variane decreases significantly were the averaging length. (3) The probability distribution of load cycles or the number for a crack to reach a certain length can be estimated using these functions by simulation of non-Gaussian(expecially Weibull) Stochastic Process.
