        The aim of this study is to analyze error cases induced during the proficiency test of certified odor measurement agencies. In the case of the homogeneity test performed in three panel groups, the geometric mean dilution factor of the site boundary PTMs(proficiency testing materials) was 1.4 ± 0.2, 1.7 ± 0.2, 1.8 ± 0.1 and that of the outlet PTMs was 3.7 ± 0.2, 3.7 ± 0.3, 3.7 ± 0.3, respectively. In the case of the stability test for 72 h, the geometric mean dilution factor of the site boundary PTMs was 1.6 ± 0.1 and that of the outlet PTMs was 3.6 ± 0.1. Among error cases induced during the proficiency test of certified odor measurement agencies, the proportion of error cases was in the order of case II(discontinuance of estimation)(40.0%) > case I(error on estimation procedure by panelist)(33.3%) > case III(miswriting of estimation result)(13.3%) > case IV(miswriting of dilution factor) and V(writing of wrong estimation result)(6.7%). Therefore, it seems likely that additional education related to error cases II and I is required.

        In this study, we aim at the workplace which is report target about person who emits much food waste, apartment house and detached house. We respectively selected 3 places in this study. Density of average complex bad odor which is generated in storage container of food waste appears high in order of workplace(2,523.8 OU/m3), apartment house(2,135.7 OU/m3) and detached house(1,556.5 OU/m3). And then, it doesn’t seem like big difference. However, these appear degree of bad smell intensity which is more than 3. Meanwhile, bad smell intensity about 3 same occurrence sources which are classified (three places which are respectively workplace, apartment house and detached house)appears big difference. Therefore, we must completely follow the meter-rate system of food waste to reduce the bad smell intensity of storage container of food waste. Also, we must use verified products in order that quality of exclusive storage container prohibits leakage of bad odor. And then, we must periodically clean the storage container and sterilize it. In addition, when we discharge food waste, we must decrease moisture content to squeeze included water. Also, we must make an effort to reduce storage period , as much as possible. And then, it is necessary to prepare countermeasure about this.

        Since 2011, proficiency test for the air dilution olfactory method started in Korea for the evaluation of the authorized odor inspection agencies’ analysis skill. For this purpose, sulfur compounds of PTMs (proficiency test materials) were made and investigated for the application to the proficiency test as a complex malodor sample. Time stability and homogeneity between samples were analysed for the PTM which was made with 10 ppm of DMS and 10 ppm of DMDS. As the results, the stability of sample concentration with GC analysis was shown around 6%RSD through the time of 6~48 hr. In addition, dilution number during the same test period appeared almost stable, less than 6%RSD in air dilution olfactory method. The reproducibility results of four laboratories showed very similar results except one lab which was caused by the elder panel characteristics.

        From results of three components analysis about food waste, moisture content appeared high in order of school(89.1%), townhouse(64.9%), apartment(63.2%) and home(63.2%). And content of ash also appeared high in order of school(8.8%), townhouse(6.3%), apartment(5.4%) and home(4.2%). This is judged as cause of difference of moisture content according to emission-source, diversity of kind of cooked food and volume-rate disposal system which is not performed. Meanwhile, combustible content is 10.9~32.6% and it is the most highest in order of home, apartment, townhouse and school. And big difference of standard deviation of apartment and townhouse is judged as difference of homogeneity due to co-emission of food waste. In addition, Low heating value appeared high in order of home(1086.07 kcal/kg), apartment(1033.69 kcal/kg), townhouse (678.07 kcal/kg) and school(9.18 kcal/kg). And the reason that heating value of school is very low is error about simple formula which is applied when moisture content is more than 50%. And it can be confirmed that this is difficult in analysis of Low heating value of food waste.
