The electrification of transportation is expected to greatly contribute to achieving the global climate change target. This study analyzed technological competitiveness in the fuel cell electric vehicle (FCEV) field based on patent family and citation index. Technology analysis was conducted by dividing FECV into six sub-technology areas based on IPC with fuel cell system, fuel cell technology, vehicle system, hydrogen storage and fueling, catalyst technology and etc. The largest number of patents are being filed in the fuel cell system technology field, and the fields with high growth rates over the past 10 years (2012-2022) were vehicle systems (12.4%) and hydrogen storage fuel field(11.5%). As of 2021, among global automakers, Toyota ranks the first in patent applications for FECV followed by Hyundai Motors in Korea, followed by Honda and Audi, with an average annual growth rate of 19.8%, the highest among competitors.

A turbo engine is used to improve engine volumetric efficiency by using the energy of exhaust gas with a device such as a turbocharger. Recently, it has been attracting attention as a solution for responding to environmental issues such as exhaust gas regulation, and its use is being expanded to gasoline and CNG engines as well as diesel engines. However, as electric and hydrogen vehicles enter the automotive market more rapidly, traditional turbo engines also confront many challenges. In this paper, to examine the current status and prospects of the turbo engine, we analyze the related patents in the turbo engine field applied to patent offices in seven major countries, including Korea, USA, China, Japan, Germany, France, and the European Union Patent Office, and analyze the patent application trend. Using ‘the pie’ system of Korea Institute of Science and Technology Information (KISTI), family patents were refined, patent application trends were diagnosed, and the technology and market competitiveness of major applicants were compared and analyzed. Even within the turbo engine market, where traditional automakers and turbocharger manufacturer participate, it was possible to examine the dynamic changes in the market through the analysis of technology and market competitiveness. The main companies leading the technology and market aspects and the companies specialized in the technology and market aspects were observed.

As the uncertainty of technology development and market needs increases due to changes in the global business environment, the interest and demand for R&D activities of individual companies are increasing. To respond to these environmental changes, technology commercialization players are paying great attention to enhancing the qualitative competitiveness of R&D. In particular, R&D companies in the marine and fishery sector face many difficulties compared to other industries. For example, the R&D environment is barren, it is challenging to secure R&D human resources, and it is facing a somewhat more difficult environment compared to other sectors, such as the difficulty in maintaining R&D continuity due to the turnover rate of researchers. In this study, based on the empirical data and patent status of private companies closely related to the R&D technology status, big data analysis, and simulation analysis methods were used to identify the relative position of individual companies' R&D capabilities and industrial perspectives. In this study, based on industrial evidence and patent applications closely related to the R&D technology status, the R&D capabilities of individual companies were evaluated using extensive data analysis and simulation analysis methods, and a statistical test was performed to analyze if there were differences in capabilities from an industrial point of view. At this time, the industries to be analyzed were based on all sectors, the maritime industry, the fisheries industry, and the maritime industry integration sector. In conclusion, it was analyzed that there was a certain level of difference in the R&D capabilities of individual companies in each industry sector, Therefore when developing a future R&D capability system, it was confirmed that it was necessary to separate the population for each industry and establish a strategy.

A non-pneumatic tire (NPT), unlike a pneumatic tire, is a tire that acts as air pressure with spokes, and has the advantage of not requiring maintenance of air pressure and the risk of puncture of the pneumatic tire. Recently, many technological advances are taking place in non-pneumatic tire (NPT) using artificial intelligence technology, and non-pneumatic tire manufacturers are actively conducting research and development. Here, in order to compare and analyze the technological competitiveness of major patent applicants, non-pneumatic tire-related patents that have been applied for Japan, the United States, China, Korea, Germany, France, and the European Union Patent Office are reviewed through the patent applications of global tire manufacturers.

The technology competitions of automobile manufacturers are getting hot. The characteristics of the environment friendly automobile are not only lowering the emission of harmful exhaust gas through the change of the power source, but also paying great attention to improvement of the power efficiency. As the market for pure electric vehicles continues to grow, we have analyzed the global technology competitiveness by DCT (Dual Clutch Transmission) patents. Clustering can be classified into five types ; 1) a cluster associated with a dual clutch transmission system, 2) a cluster of a torque transmission device and a reverse speed ratio, 3) a cluster of co-planar sets and dual clutch assemblies related to transmitting devices, 4) Device clusters, and 5) a cluster of synchronizers and clusters to prevent simultaneous operation of dual clutch transmissions. In recent years, demand for pure electric vehicles has been rapidly increasing, and patent applications related to DCT have been steadily increasing for energy efficiency of motor power sources.
