        The two-spotted spider mite, Tetranychus urticae Koch (Acari: Tetranychidae), is one of the most important pest species devastating many horticultural and ornamental crops and fruit trees. In the present study, a field strain was collected in January 2001 and has been selected for sixteen years with acequinocyl. The resistance ratio calculated from the LC50 of eggs and adults was 191- and 4,237-fold, respectively. The laboratory-selected acequinocyl resistance (LSAR16) strain was screened with 11 acaricides for cross-resistance. The detoxifying enzyme activities and quantitative real-time PCR analysis were performed in the LSAR16 strain. Crossing experiments revealed that LSAR16 strain was inherited maternally, incompletely dominant and monogenic. Most importantly, we identified two new point-mutations at mitochondrial cytb from acequinocyl resistant T. urticae.

        For our survey of insecticidal resistance of Palm thrips (Thrips palmi Karny), we established the discriminating time (DT) and concentration (DC) of nine insecticides, and we conducted a bioassay about seven local populations via leaf-dipping methods. The discriminating times of the recommended concentration (RC) were 24 h at emamectin benzoate EC and spinetoram SC, 48 h at chlorfenapyr EC, 72 h at spinosad SC, cyantraniliprole EC, acetamiprid WP, dinotefuran WG, imidacloprid WP and thiacloprid SC after treatment. The DC estimated the concentration which showed the difference within the mortalities of these local populations. The DCs were emamectin benzoate EC 0.013 mg L-1 (RC, 10.8 mg L-1), spinetoram SC 0.125 mg L-1 (RC, 25.0 mg L-1), chlorfenapyr EC 0.25 mg L-1 (RC, 50.0 mg L-1), spinosad SC 0.083 mg L-1 (RC, 50.0 mg L-1) and cyantraniliprole EC 5.0 mg L-1 (RC, 50.0 mg L-1), and DCs of neonicotinoids were their RCs, that is, acetamiprid WP (RC, 40.0 mg L-1), dinotefuran WG (RC, 20.0 mg L-1), imidacloprid WP (RC, 50.0 mg L-1) and thiacloprid SC (RC, 50.0 mg L-1). From our investigation into the resistance of the local populations with DT and DC application, the neonicotinoid insecticides have shown a high resistant level for all the local populations, and the other insecticides have demonstrated low or non-resistance. In the use of neonicotinoid insecticides to control Palm thrips, one must take caution. As a result, the establishment of DT and DC in the single dose bioassay method was helpful for surveying the insecticide response dynamics and the development of an insecticide resistance management strategy.

        In order to renovate spirodiclofen contaminated soil through biodegradation, a high-effective spirodiclofen degrading bacterium was isolated from corn cultivated soil in Weifang of Shandong, China using enrichment culture and HPLC method. The strain identification was studied, the best cultivated conditions and pesticides degrading substrate range of the strain was also determined. The spirodiclofen degradation rate of the screened strain WF14-6 was 76.42% after 120 h cultivation, based on morphology and 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis, the strain was identified as Enterobacter sp. The best cultivated temperature and pH of the strain were 30℃and 7.0. After 72 h cultivation, the degradation rate of strain to imidacloprid and acifluorfene was 31.35~41.06%, the degradation rate to bupirimate、diafenthiuron and dimethomorph was 20.81~23.90%.

        The pea aphid Acyrthosiphom pisum (Harris) (Hemiptera: Aphididae) is a pestiferous species with a worldwide distribution. We investigated the development periods and survivorship of A. pisum nymph, and longevity and fecundity of A. pisum adult. The study was conducted at five constant temperatures of 10, 15, 20, 25, and 30°C. Higher temperature threshold (TH) and lower temperature threshold (TL) were calculated by two nonlinear functions. The temperature range of A. pisum from TL to TH using empirical model (29.29) was wider than that using biophysiological model (21.85). The adult emergence frequency of A. pisum over full range of constant temperatures was simulated using developmental rat

        The cowpea aphid Aphis craccivora Koch (Hemiptera: Aphididae) is an important pest on several species of legumes. We investigated the development periods and survivorship of A. craccivora nymph, and longevity and fecundity of A. craccivora adult. The study was conducted at five constant temperatures of 10, 15, 20, 25, and 30°C, respectively. The lower developmental threshold (LDT) and thermal constant (K) of A. craccivora nymph stage were estimated by linear regression. Higher temperature threshold (TH) and lower temperature threshold (TL) were calculated by biophysiological model. Developmental completion of A. craccivora nymph stage was described using a two-parameter Weibull distribution model. Life table parameters were estimated by the jackknife method.

        The survival rate and number of parasitized host of Encarsia formosa Gahan and Eretmocerus eremicus Rose were observed at low temperature conditions (6, 8, 10 and 12 ± 1oC, RH 70 ± 10%, in dark condition. Mummy of Encarsia formosa was stored at 12oC, for 70% of the mummies survived for 10 days. After 6-days storage at 12oC, number of parasitized host of the parasitoids was decreased to 35.9 (67.6%, compared to control). Mummy of Eretmocerus eremicus was stored at 12oC, and 70% of the mummies survived for 14 days. After 6-days storage at 12oC, number of parasitized host was decreased to 31.6 (83.6%, compared to control). Our results suggest that 12oC was most suitable temperature for storage of Encarsia formosa and Eretmocerus eremicus.

        The essential oils of three Coriandrum sativum seeds cultivated from India, Russia and America were evaluated for acaricidal toxicities against Dermatophagoides farinae, D. pteronyssinus, and Tyrophagus putrescentiae. The oils of three C. sativum seeds were analyzed by gas chromatography. The oil of C. sativum seeds cultivated from India included substantially linalool (66.8%) and camphor (6.46%). In the fumigant bioassay, based on the LD50 values against D. farinae, D. pteronyssinus, and T. putrescentiae, the oil of C. sativum seeds cultivated from America (LD50, 2.62, 2.74, and 2.88 μg/cm3) was about 3.75, 3.32, and 4.17 times more active higher than benzyl benzoate (9.85, 9.10 and, 12.01 μg/cm3). The acaricidal activity of the oil of C. sativum seeds cultivated from India was 2.27, 2.03, and 2.64 times higher than that of the benzyl benzoate, followed by Russia oil. These results suggest that the oils of three C. sativum seeds might be used as suitable acaricides.

        The bird cherry-oat aphid Rhopalosiphum padi (Linnaeus) (Hemiptera: Aphididae) is a polyphagous species and worldwide distribution. We investigated the development periods and survivorship of R. padi nymph, and longevity and fecundity of R. padi adult. The study was conducted at six constant temperatures of 10.0, 15.0, 20.0, 25, 30.0, and 32.5°C, respectively. R. padi developed successfully from nymph to adult stage at all temperatures tested. Developmental rate of R. padi increased as temperature increased from 10.0 to 25.0°C and declined after then. The lower developmental threshold (LDT) and thermal constant (K) of R. padi nymph stage were estimated by linear regression. Higher temperature threshold (TH) and lower temperature threshold (TL) were calculated by two nonlinear functions. LDT and K of R. padi nymph stage were 5.61°C and 100.65DD. The temperature range of R. padi from TL to TH using empirical model (32.18) was wider than that from biophysiological model (27.08). Developmental completion of R. padi nymph stage was described using a two-parameter Weibull distribution model. The adult emergence frequency of R. padi over full range of constant temperatures was simulated using developmental rate functions and Weibull function. Daily egg production of R. padi in relation to adult age and temperature was estimated. Life table parameters were estimated by the jackknife method.

        This study was conducted to suggest implications of pest management system for agrarian improvement institute. We analyzed the informations about the pest management by listening to opinion of farmers and researchers including Rural Development Administration (RDA) and it’s affliated organization. In result, They evaluated that the agriculture development institutes very well progressed pest management researches in principle. However, some chronic bottleneck problems still existed such as pesticides resistant pests, lack of effective control methods. For designing proper direction, these problems should be considerated preferently.
