The genus Icerya Signoret, 1876 has 38 species distributed in the world, and some are known to cause damage to valuable crops. The Seychelles scale, Icerya seychellarum (Westwood) (Hemiptera: Coccomorpha: Monophlebidae) was found on Cycas revoluta located in the province of Seogwipo-si, Jeju Island, South Korea. This species is highly polyphagous and has been reported to attack host plants of 136 genera, it is widely distributed in tropical and subtropical regions. In South Korea, the species was presently considered a quarantine pest and it seems that control is needed. In this study, I. seychellarum is recorded for the first time in South Korea, we provide information on the distribution, host plants, and description of this species.

Recently, the development of computer vision with deep learning has made object detection using images applicable to diverse fields, such as medical care, manufacturing, and transportation. The manufacturing industry is saving time and money by applying computer vision technology to detect defects or issues that may occur during the manufacturing and inspection process. Annotations of collected images and their location information are required for computer vision technology. However, manually labeling large amounts of images is time-consuming, expensive, and can vary among workers, which may affect annotation quality and cause inaccurate performance. This paper proposes a process that can automatically collect annotations and location information for images using eXplainable AI, without manual annotation. If applied to the manufacturing industry, this process is thought to save the time and cost required for image annotation collection and collect relatively high-quality annotation information.

PURPOSES: This study develops eco-friendly asphalt reinforcement materials applicable to bridge deck pavement. The main purpose is to ensure highly reliable quality applicable to structures and the possibility of practical application. The main target of the study is to develop materials that are environmentally friendly and capable of improving performanceMETHODS: The application of double-reinforcement fiber improves the performance of the road pavement. 1. We use recycled film for application of sheet-typed reinforcement. 2. We use preprocessing fibers to reinforce the properties of composite pavement materials.RESULTS : The developed products may produce materials that fit the purpose of achieving stability and environmental friendliness. Sheettyped reinforcements use more than 50% recycled resin. The most important type of damage to the asphalt layer is deflection (plastic deformation). These products have a very high deflection resistance of not less than 6,000 cycles/mm. In addition, all performance is excellent. Thus, it will be easier to access the field in the future.CONCLUSIONS: Fiber-reinforced asphalt pavement showed excellent performance. Sheet-typed reinforcements containing 50% recycling resin produced good performance in terms of functionality as well as environmental friendliness. Thus, enhancing the field applicability will enhance the usability of the reinforcements.

The family Scelionidae is distributed all around the world, which has approximately 3,000 species within 150 genera in the world. To date 39 species of 15 genera from 3 subfamilies in Scelionidae are recorded in South Korea. In this study, we report a new record of the genus Idiris with one species. There are many parasitory and predatory insects specializing on spider eggs. Among scelionids, some species (Baeus achaearneus, Comastichus zopheros, Idris sp.) parasitize spider eggs. However, there was no Korean record for scelionid wasps parasitizing in egg sacs of spider. Based on morphology, ecology, and DNA identification, we recognized this species, Idris sp., being new to Korea. All examined specimens and DNA samples are deposited in Kunsan National University.
