The genus Conicera Meigen is a group of necrophagous phorid flies mostly associated with carrion, including C. tibialis, commonly known as the “coffin fly” that breeds in buried corpses. In this study, specimens of the Conicera species collected from South Korea are examined morphologically on the basis of characteristics on male antennae, sensory organ on midfemora, and left and right surstyli on hypopygium. As a result, five species, viz. C. dauci, C. gracilis, C. orientalis, C. pacifica, C. quadrata are newly recorded from South Korea. Photographs of diagnostic characters, a distribution map and a key to males of South Korean species are provided.

Currently 41 valid species of the Pholcus phungiformes-group (Araneae: Pholcidae) have been known from Korea. In this study, four new species of this species-group were discovered from Gangwon-do and eastern Chungcheongbuk-do. These new species have common characteristics with Pholcus socheunensis, such as broad and membranous prolateral process and strongly curved pseudoappendix in male palp. The female of Pholcus montanus in the original description is the misidentification of a new species. Brief diagnosis, photographs and a distribution map of the new species and P. socheunensis with discussion on their sympatric distribution are provided.

우리나라의 생물상 52,628종의 35.4%를 차지하는 곤충 18,638종의 국명 유형을 크게 11개(색깔, 크기, 모양, 식물, 위치, 생태, 외국어, 사람이름, 고유, 생리, 긍정·부정)범주로 구분하고, 그 뜻은 무엇인지를 조사하였다. 그 중 인종차별, 장애 및 생김새의 차별, 지역 차별 등의 혐오표현이 사용된 유형 506개에 대해 심층적으로 분석하여, 해당 표현의 본 뜻과 함께 향후 사용할 만한 대체 용어를 제시하였다. 더불어 일본어 표현(일본어, 일본인 이름, 일본 지명 등)이 사용된 유형 508개에 대해 분석하여, 세부 유형을 밝히고 해당 생물종의 국명의 사용이 적절하지 않다고 판단되는 경우에 대체 용어를 제시하였다.

한국산 둥글장수풍뎅이(Pentodon quadridens bidentulus)의 3령 유충과 번데기의 형태를 처음 기술한다. 서식지와 실험실 사육에서 둥글장수 풍뎅이의 생태, 분포, 생활사 또한 제공한다.

We report here one species, Ampelodesmus cf. granulosus myrmecophilus millipede (Pyrgodesmidae) collected fromcolonies of Brachyponera chinensis (Formicidae: Hymenopera). The family Pyrgodesmidae contained over 500 speciesdistribute mainly in tropics (Shear, 2011). Some species are found only in ant colonies, and are considered obligate myrmecophiles(Stoev et al. 2005). Myrmecophilus pyrgodesmid millipedes are known to scavenger as they feed on debris of host ants.Largely unknown is how millipedes can avoid from aggression of host ants, but host ants completely ignoring their invader(Komatsu, unpublished data). Two genera and four species of family Pyrgodesmidae were known from Japan which werecompletely unknown from South Korea. In this study, we provide description, especially gonopods of male, host informationand breeding records of Ampelodesmus cf. granulosus.
