        This study was started under the judgement that reviewing $\ulcorner$A Survey Report of Korean Architecture$\lrcorner$, which contains photographs and drawings by Sekino Tadashi and which was also made under the order of the Japanese government(1902), would make it possible to consider in detail the status of Korean buildings in the period of the Korean Empire. The focus of the study. was put on three main parts of the temple, especially the central parts. The photographs and drawings as mentioned above showed that changes in the layout of buildings in the central part of the temple were made between the period of the Korean Empire and that of Japanese occupation. Thus the purpose of the study is to investigate when changes in building layout in the central part of the temple were made and what made such changes to be caused, obtaining information necessary for future changes in the precincts of the temple. Results of the study can be summarized as follows. First, 'Seonchal Daebonsan Beomeosa feonkeongdo' and 'Gyeongsangnamdo Dongraegun Beomeosa Geonmul Jeondo' were made in a same period. While, 'Chosun Gojeok Dobo', published by the government-general of Chosun, was a collection of photographs taken by Sekino Tadashi for about 30 years from 1902 to 1933 under the order of the Japanese government. But there were few changes in the building layout of the temple shown in the three materials. Second, one of the photographs and drawings made since 1933, not contained in 'Chosun Gojeok Dobo', and discovered by this researcher was 'Seonchal Daebonsan Beomeosa Annae' which was published by the temple itself after national independence from the period of Japanese occupation, indicating the main reason of changes in building layout as mentioned above. In conclusion, the layout of buildings of the temple began to be changed on a large scale, with so-called 'Cheyongseol' ignored, when Buddhist monk Cha Woon Ho established a 7-storied sarira tower to the left of the main building in the center of the upper part in 1936. In addition, the axis line connecting between Hwaeomjong and Seonjong was also changed at that time.

        This paper summarizes characteristics of the Korean tuna purse seine fishery in the Western and Central Pacific Ocean (WCPO). Major fishing area for the Korean tuna purse seine fleet consisted of the waters of Micronesia, Papua New Guinea and Solomon Islands and adjacent high seas between 130˚E-180˚ The center of the Korean tuna fishing ground was in the vicinity of 180˚ during the El - Niño event but was formed in 150˚-160˚E during the La - Niño event. As compared with other major purse seine fleets in WCPO, the Korean fleet set more on unassociated schools of tuna, while Japan, USA and Chinese - Taipei fleets accounted for more than 50% of sets on log - associated schools. In general, CPUES for log - associated schools were higher than those for unassociated schools and catch composition showed that yellowfin ratio was higher in unassociated shools than log - associated schools. Length frequency represented higher percentage of mid - sized yellowfin than Japanese and USA fleets. Daily set numbers and CPUE were high before 7 am and remained almost constant from 7 am to 3 pm but decreased rapidly after 3 pm and 5 pm, respectively. Catch composition per set indicated that pure skipjack school was caught most frequently, followed by mixed school and pure yellowfin school as the least, but CPUE was highest for the mixed school.

        This study was conducted to survey the catches of vertical bottom longline fisheries in the sea mount of central northern Pacific(30˚-42˚N, 170˚-175˚E), during the period of July 1 to August 25,2004 by commercial fishing vessel. The number of 57 test fishing was carried out in the central northern Pacific during 43 days and the total catches were 21,092.4kg as 19 fish species, CPUE/day and catches/day were 185 baskets and 490.5kg, respectively. Main fish species caught from the experimental fishing were Squalus mitsukurii (66.3%), Coelorhyrchus asperocephaius (11.7%) and Helicolenus avius (9.8%) and, average inside diameter for fish mouth was 4.0cm over. Catch ratio according to each fishing ground was the order of F, D, J, B and C. Catch ratio fur water depth was the order of 450-500m, 350-400m, 300-350m, 400-450m, 1000-1100m and 500-550m and, main species by water depth was Squalus mitsukurii for 300-400m, Etmopterus lucifer for 300-550m, Coelorhyrchus asperocephaius far 1,000m over. Catch ratio according to the kind of hooks was higher at the hook no.6 for Squalus mitsukurii and no. 5 for Etmopterus lucifer and, catch ratio by baits was higher at squid for Squalus mitsukurii, saury and eel for Helicolemus avius and saury for Etmopterus lucifer. Accordingly, it is thought that the extension of fishing hours is needed with the reduction of damage and loss for fishing gears during fishing operation.

        This study was conducted in order to the experiment of bottom trawl fisheries in the sea mount of central northern pacific(30˚-40˚N, 170˚-175˚E), during the period of July 1 to August 25, 2004 by commercial trawl ship. Fishing experiment was carried out by bottom trawl, with the codend of 110mm mesh size. The number of 101 test fishing was done in the sea mount of central northern pacific during 56 days and the total catches were 198,593kg as 18 fish species, and CPUE/day and catches/day were 8.3 hours towing time and 3,546kg. Catch ratio according to each fishing ground was higher with the order of B, C, and E, and catches for B was 7,171.0kg during the towing time of 13.2 hours. Main target species were Pseudopentaceros richardsoni and Beryx splendens, there was 14.9% of damage ratio for fishing gears on catching the target fishes inhabiting on the rough sea bottom. Catches by water depth was the order of 300m below, 301-350m, 451-500m and 351-400m. It is thought that there was no problem on the mesh size because most of fishes caught from the experimental fishing was 30cm over.

        This study examines the dwellings of the Korean diaspora in Maritime Provinces of Russia, and Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan of Central Asia to find the gist of the residence transformed as Korean traditional residence culture to accept Russian foreign culture. Through the examination, transformation process of the dwellings of the Korean diaspora was found as follows: - 1st Period(1864-1937): The Korean diaspora who Immigrated to Maritime Provinces of Russia built traditional houses of Korean style and few of them lived in Russian style houses. - 2nd Period(1937-1955): The Koreans who immigrated to Central Asia from Maritime Provinces under compulsion built 'ground house' by digging the earth and installed gudeul which is a traditional Korean heating system and roofed with reed. - 3rd period(1955-1991): The Koreans built straight lined '-' shape houses with two or three rooms wherein most of them were installed with gudeul to heat the room. Around the 1940s as they economically got well, the Koreans started to build houses with Russian style with one or two rooms with gudeul or a separate building with gudeul. - 4th period(1991-present): Houses of the 3rd period are still used by being enlarged or remodeled with less use of gudeul which is well reflected on Ujeong-maul village in Russia Maritime Provinces. As can be found above, the dwellings of the Korean diaspora in Russia Maritime Provinces and Central Asia are on the process of being transformed into Russian style to adapt to Russian culture.

        Anomalies in the far-infrared [C II] 158 μm line emission observed in the central one-kiloparsec regions of spiral galaxies are reviewed. Low far-infrared intensity ratios of the [C II] line to the continuum were observed in the center of the Milky Way, because the heating ratio of the gas to the dust is reduced by the soft interstellar radiation field due to late-type stars in the Galactic bulge. In contrast, such low line-to-continuum ratios were not obtained in the center of the nearby spiral M31, in spite of its bright bulge. A comparison with numerical simulations showed that a typical column density of the neutral interstellar medium between illuminating sources at hv ~ 1 eV is NH ≲ 1021 cm-2 in the region; the medium is translucent for photons sufficiently energetic to heat the grains but not sufficiently energetic to heat the gas. This interpretation is consistent with the combination of the extremely high [C Il]/CO J = 1-0 line intensity ratios and the low recent star-forming activity in the region; the neutral interstellar medium is not sufficiently opaque to protect the species even against the moderately intense incident UV radiation. The above results were unexpected from classical views of the [C II] emission, which was generally considered to trace intense interstellar UV radiation enhanced by active star formation.
