        Sequence-tagged site (STS) markers tightly linked to the bacterial leaf blight (BLB) resistance genes, xa5, xa13 and Xa21, were used in this study. A survey was conducted to find polymorphisms between the resistant and susceptible germplasm in rice. 500 of Korean varieties and 100 of landraces were evaluated in this study. STS marker, RG207 was used to having xa5 resistance gene of rice germplasm. 27 varieties of Korean germplasm showed resistant for xa5 gene. The RG136 an xa-13 marker resulted in a single band of approximately 1kb in all the rice accessions studied. In order to detect polymorphism, digestion of the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) product was performed using a restriction enzyme Hinf Ⅰ. The resistant lines resulted in two bands 0.5kb on digestion with Hinf Ⅰ, while the same enzyme did not digest the PCR product of susceptible lines. No polymorphism was detected in Korean varieties and landraces, indicating that they probably do not contain xa13 gene. pTA248 an Xa-21 marker detected a band of 1kb in the resistant lines and bands of either 750bp or 700bp in the susceptible lines. Among germplasm tested, there are no varieties and landraces with Xa21 resistant gene. The results of the germplasm survey will be useful for the selection of parents in breeding programs aimed at transferring these bacterial blight resistance genes from one varietal background to another.

        This study was conducted to test on the resistance of varieties bred by crossing with Asominori to bacterial leaf blight. Nakdongbyeo and Dongjinbyeo which were susceptible to HB 9011, 8 resistant varieties including Ilmibyeo derived from Asominori and Asominori, Hwangok, 13 varieties including Chukoku 45 which were resistance to HB 9011, HB 9022 and HB 9033 were used to screen their res ponce depending on the various screening methods such as the true resistance, the secondary infection resistance and the disease common field test methods, and the results are as follows: Among 13 varieties tested, 11 varieties including llmibyeo showed tme resistance to HB 9011. Less than 1.0cm of disease lesion were developed on these varieties. Disease lesion was not developed on most of the Asominori lines including Daechongbyeo against IIB9011 and 1lmibyeo was also resistance to HB 9011, on this variety disease lesion area rate was 1.2%, and 7 varieties including Hwajinbyeo showed field resistance to HB 9022. Disease lesion area rate were 19.6% on Nakdongbyeo. 15.6% on Dongjinbyeo, from 3.0% to 2.4% on Asominori lines, and 0.5% on the Asominori when screened at disease common area. Disease was not developed on Keumnambyeo. Significant correlation coefficiences were found between the results from the test methods of the true resistance, the field resistance ancl the field resistance at disease common field tests on Asominori lines, but in some cases, even the varieties on which disease lesions developed, showed field resistance to HB 9022 and HB 9033.

        수도 흰잎마름병(Xanthomonas campestris pv. oryzae) 병원세균(K1)의 조직내에서의 증식과 이동 그리고 수공을 통해 추출되는 병원세균의 농도를 조사한 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 1. 저항성 품종에서는 접종 3일후에 약 103 cfu/cm2 로 12일까지 큰 변화가 없었으나 리병성 품종에서는 접종 6일에 약 104 cfu/cm2 에서 접종 12일에는 약 108-109cfu/cm2 로 계속 증식하였다. 2. 병원세균의 접종부위로부터 상, 하향 이동속도 및 증식속도는 상향이동이 약간 빠른 경향이었으며 리병성 품종에서 빠른 증식과 이동속도를 보여 저항성과 밀접한 관계가 있었다. 3. 병원세균의 증식 및 이동은 생육시기에 따른 차이는 없었다. 4. 감염된 잎의 수공을 통해 나오는 병원세균의 농도는 조직내에서 병원세균의 증식 및 이동과 일치하였으며 저항성과도 밀접한 관계가 있었다.

        답잡초 돌피 외 19종을 대상으로 병원균군, 접종방법 및 잡율의 생육시기를 달리하여 벼흰빛잎마름병의 기주범국 구명시험에서 얻어진 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 1. 나도겨풀, 강아지풀, 독새풀 등은 밀양 2003에 준한 이병성을 나타냈으며, 그 밖에 바랭이, 왕바램이 알방동산이, 너도방동산이, 바람하늘지기 등에서 이병성을 보였으나 광엽잡초에는 전혀 이병되지 않았다. 2. 생육초기에 이병성을 크게 보인 강아지풀, 나도겨풀, 독새풀은 생육전기간을 통해서 이병성이 컸으며, 균군간에는 제일군이 병원성이 다소 큰 것 같았다. 3. 접종방법별로는 유상접종인 핀 및 가위 접종이 무상접종의 분무접종보다 이병성이 켰다.
