        To suggest the preliminary data for effective maintenance of RC deck slabs of bridges, the damage characteristics of RC deck slabs are quantitatively analyzed in the present study. Damages of RC deck slab are classified into damage patterns and its details. And, rate of damage possess, cause of damage occurrence and time of damage occurrence are reviewed from this study.

        We have carried out the bridge inspections according to the laws not considering the characteristics of damages. It is reasonable to classify the inspection interval according to the risk of each bridge. This suggests the risk based inspection inspection methodology.

        To suggest the preliminary data for effective maintenance of bridge structures, the damage patterns of expressway bridges are quantitatively analyzed in the present study. Damages detected in concrete deck slab, girder(concrete/steel), abutment and pier are classified into damage patterns and details. From this study, the damage characteristics of expressway bridges are figured out, and most of damages are defect which is resulted from a shoddy and fault construction

        A bridge is composed of many elements as deck, girder, pier and so on. The deterioration characteristic for each element is useful to establish the maintenace strategy and to determine the inspection interval. This study analyzed the derioration rates of bridge elements in Korea Expressway with a lot of precision safety diagnosis reports.

        Degradation characteristics of highway bridge condition rate was studied. Factors affecting degradation rate such as bridge type, member type, and environmental exposure were analyzed by using bridge condition data in Highway Bridge Management System. It can be drawn from the analysis that condition degradation rates are different from type to type of bridge member, and environmental exposure such as the amount of chloride used, the amount of snowfall can accelerate bridge condition degradation

        We have carried out the bridge inspections according to the laws not considering the technical knowledge. It is reasonable to optimize the inspection practice within the limited resources. This study reviews the expressway bridge inspection practice by analysing the case of the developed countries.

        For the safety assessment of the existing bridges on the expressway, the statistical properties of the truck traffic on the expressway needs to be investigated. Also, the reduced uncertainties involved in the assessment and the shorter reference period for the assessment are utilized for the modeling of the live load for evaluation of the existing bridges.

        염해는 구조물 열화의 원인이 되는 주요인자 중의 하나이다. 고속도로 교량에 있어서 제설제는 동결작용으로 인한 표면 스켈링을 매우 증가시킨다. 열화된 콘크리트는 염해환경에서 내구성이 저하된다. 본 연구에서는 147개 교량의 진단보고서를 조사하고 21개 교량 바닥판의 코어샘플에 대하여 실험과 분석을 실시하였다. 시험결과는 콘크리트 바닥판의 피복두께는 공용수명 30년 이상을 사용하려면 8cm이상이 필요하다는 것을 보여준다.
