        Cylindrical specimens with different levels of density have been submitted to uniaxial compression tests with loading and unloading cycles. The analysis of the elastic loadings shows a non linear elasticity which can be mathematically represented by means of a potential law. Results are explained by assuming that the total elastic strain is the contribution of two terms one deriving from the hertzian deformation of the contacts among particles and another that takes into account the linear elastic deformation of the powder skeleton. A simple model based in an one pore unit cell is presented to support the mathematical model.

        The results of monotonic and cyclic uniaxial compression tests, in which the deviatoric component of the stress is predominant, carried out on green and recrystallized iron compacts with different levels of density are presented and discussed in order to analyse the macro and micro-mechanisms governing the mechanical behaviour of non-sintered PM materials. The plastic deformation of the particles, especially at the contact areas between neighbouring grains, produces an internal friction responsible for the main features observed in the behaviour of green metallic compacts. These results show important discrepancies with the plasticity models, Cam-Clay and Drucker-Prager Cap.

        High velocity compaction (HVC) is a production technique with capacity to significantly improve the mechanical properties of powder metallurgy (PM) parts. Investigated here are green body data such as density, tensile strength, radial springback, ejection force and surface flatness. Comparisons are performed with conventional compaction using the same pressing conditions. Cylindrical samples of a pre-alloyed water atomized iron powder are used in this experimental investigation. The HVC process in this study resulted in a better compressibility curve and lower ejection force compared to conventional quasi static pressing. Vertical scanning interferometry measurements show that the HVC process gives flatter sample surfaces.

        최근 강구조물과 해양구조물에 있어서 박판 부재인 고장력강이 널리 사용되면서 좌굴이 발생할 가능성이 커지고 있다. 특히 선박구조는 상자형 박판 구조물로서 용접이나 절단등의 열 가공에 의하여 필연적으로 판부재에 초기처짐이 발생하게 된다. 이러한 초기처짐은 박판부재가 좌굴을 동반한 복잡한 비선형 거동을 나타낼 때 악영향을 미치는 요소이다. 결과적으로 선체구조물이나 해양구조물에 안정성과 정확성을 부여하기 위해서는 발생 가능한 초기처짐을 이상화하여 2차좌굴 거동을 고려한 붕괴 매커니즘을 초기구조설계에 반영하여야 한다. 본 연구에서는 종방향 압축하중이 작용하고 네변 단순지지조건인 판에 실제 계측된 여러 가지 초기처짐형상을 적용한 유한요소 해석을 하였다. 해석방법으로서는 범용 유한요소프로그램인 ANSYS의 탄소성대변형 유한요소법을 적용하였고 해석제어는 Newton-Raphson method와 Arc-length method를 병용하였다.

        Several arguments have been presented in the literature to support the connection between radio halos and cluster mergers. The spectral index distributions of the halos in A665 and A2163 provide a new strong confirmation of this connection, i.e. of the fact that the cluster merger plays an important role in the energy supply to the radio halos. Features of the spectral index (flattening and patches) are indication of a complex shape of the radiating electron spectrum, and are therefore in support of electron reacceleration models. Regions of flatter spectrum are found to be related to the recent merger. In the undisturbed cluster regions, instead, the spectrum steepens with the distance from the cluster center. The plot of the integrated spectral index of a sample of halos versus the cluster temperature indicates that clusters at higher temperature tend to host halos with flatter spectra. This correlation provides further evidence of the connection between radio emission and cluster mergers.

        지금까지의 강구조설계에서는 일반적인 탄성좌굴개념을 적용하고 있다. 왜냐하면 현재까지의 실적선의 데이터와 경험적인 방법에 의해 도출된 여러 가지 룰에 의한 데이터가 상당히 신뢰할만한 정도를 갖고 있기 때문이라고 판단하기 때문이다. 그러나, 최근들어 판두께가 박판인 고장력강재가 선체에 폭넓게 사용되어지면서 탄성좌굴발생 시점이 빨라졌으며 이에따른 탄소성거동을 정확히 예측할 필요성이 대두되고 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 선체의 이중저 판넬구조에서 압축하중을 받을때의 실제판부재의 주변지지조건을 네가지로 이성화하여 해석하였으며, 이때 실제 필연적으로 존재하게 되는 열가공에 의한 비대칭형 초기처짐을 적용하였고, 비선형해석기법으로서는 Arc-length method를 적용하였고 해석코드는 범용유한요소법 소프트웨어로 잘 알려진 ANSYS를 사용하였다.

        The failure behaviours of unidirectional pultruded carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP) composites were monitored by the electrical resistance measurement during tensile loading, three-point-bending, interlaminar shear loading. The tensile failure behaviour of carbon fiber tows was also investigated by the electrical resistance measurement. Infrared thermography non-destructive evaluation was performed in real time during tensile test of CFRP composites to validate the change of microdamage in the materials. Experiment results demonstrated that the CFRP composites and carbon fiber tows were damaged by different damage mechinsms during tensile loading, for the CFRP composites, mainly being in the forms of matrix damage and the debonding between matrix and fibers, while for the carbon fiber tows, mainly being in the forms of fiber fracture. The correlation between the infrared thermographs and the change in the electrical resistance could be regarded as an evidence of the damage mechanisms of the CFRP composites. During three-point-bending loading, the main damage forms were the simultaneity fracture of matrix and fibers firstly, then matrix cracking and the debonding between matrix and fiber were carried out. This results can be shown in Fig. 9(a) and (b). During interlaminar shear loading, the change in the electrical resistance was related to the damage degree of interlaminar structure. Electrical resistance measurement was more sensitive to the damage behaviour of the CFRP composites than the stress/time curve.

        In spite of unparalleled combination of essential material properties for brake linings and clutch facings, replacement for asbestos is seriously called for since it is a health hazard. Once asbestos is replaced with other material then composition and properties of brake pad changes. In certain cases hardness of the material may be high enough to affect the rotor material. In this study, hardness of the brake pad has been controlled using suitable reinforcement materials like glass, carbon and Kevlar pulp. Brake pad formulations were made using CNSL (cashew net shell liquid) modified phenolic resin as a binder, graphite or cashew dust as a friction modifier and barium sulphate, talc and wollastonite as fillers. Influence of each component on the hardness value has been studied and a proper formulation has been arrived at to obtain hardness values around 35 on Scleroscopic scale. Friction and wear properties of the respective brake pad materials have been measured on a dynamometer and their performance was evaluated.

        외줄낚시에 대한 대문어의 조획기구를 알아내고, 낚시를 개량하기 위하여 수조에서 외줄낚시어구에 대한 대문어의 행동패턴을 비디오카메라로 관찰 조사하였다. 대문어는 돌진하거나 천천히 유영하며 미끼를 잡았다. 돌진할 때에는 두개의 팔로 미끼를 잡은 후 약간 뒤로 물러서서 정지하였고, 천천히 접근 할 때는 한 개의 팔로 미끼를 잡은 후 그 자리에 정지하여 섭이하는 행동을 보였다. 조획은 약간 뒤로 물러서서 섭이할 때보다 그 자리에 정지할 때가 많았다. 평균 체중 1kg의 대문어가 정어리, 대문어, 돼지비계 등을 전량 섭이하는데 소요되는 시간은 각각 1~30분 , 10~50분 , 50분~1시간 이상으로서 미끼의 육질이 질길수록 대문어가 미끼를 섭이하는데 장시간 소요되었다. 조획성능에서는 낚시의 채가 긴 A형낚시보다 채가 짧은 B형낚시가 양호하였으나 어체로부터 낚시를 탈락시키는 데는 B형낚시보다 A형낚시가 용이하였다.
