Many manufacturers applying third party logistics (3PLs) have some challenges to increase their logistics efficiency. This study introduces an effort to estimate the weight of the delivery trucks provided by 3PL providers, which allows the manufacturer to package and load products in trailers in advance to reduce delivery time. The accuracy of the weigh estimation is more important due to the total weight regulation. This study uses not only the data from the company but also many general prediction variables such as weather, oil prices and population of destinations. In addition, operational statistics variables are developed to indicate the availabilities of the trucks in a specific weight category for each 3PL provider. The prediction model using XGBoost regressor and permutation feature importance method provides highly acceptable performance with MAPE of 2.785% and shows the effectiveness of the developed operational statistics variables.
With the effectuation of Kyoto Protocol, one of the important movement throughout the world is reducing the emission of greenhouse gas which is the main reason of making global warming. The actual factor of greenhouse gas is CO2, and in year of 2002 20% of total CO2 emission was produced only through transportation throughout the South Korea. In the contrary, the recycling of municipal wastes in South Korea was 44.0% in 2002, but it will be targeted upto 53.5% in 2011. All of these show environment-conscious logistics should be implemented together throughout the each stage of distribution with the development of product and service. This study applied survey research for the activities affecting to the emission of CO2 and packaging wastes produced from transportation and packaging stages in logistics area. For this, survey questionary was constructed with five specific areas - strategy, transportation & distribution, custody, packaging, and information. Based on the 148 returned survey questionaries, this study analyzed 52 categories and finally suggests necessary modal shift, collaboration & co-operation in logistics, LCA(life-cycle assessment), and other promoting policies for the environment-conscious logistics in effective way.
For a sustainable development, the resources circulation system should be established and an environment-conscious activities are required at the same time. These activities should be also implemented in logistics area. Especially, green procurement activities in inbound logistics is recognized as a very important factors in the early phase of an environment-conscious activities. In this paper, we are to suggest the direction through statistical analysis of effects, and cause of influences of environmental procurement logistics activities on logistics performance by environmental logistics strategy and by the size of enterprises, and by Environmental Management System. This study was conducted with the subjects of manufacturing enterprises with concurrent reviews of literature and statistical analysis, and the meaning of this study would be the analysis of the influencers of environment-conscious procurement logistics activities on logistics performance different from existing logistics studies.

Environment conscious logistics management which means simple recycling tends to promote material reduction, reuse and recycling. We have made some case studies about advanced environment conscious logistics system. To examine Korean companies,' environment-conscious logistics practices we made a survey form which contains 81 questions and asked companies to respond. Thus we have the analysis from the survey responses. As a result of this study, we propose the way of constructing environment conscious logistics system in Korea.

부산항 '컨'터미널 운영문제점을 요약하면, 부산항 '컨'터미널 운영에 글로벌 선사의 미참여로 인한 환적화물 감소우려가 가장 높고 국적선사의 자가터미널 미확보로 인한 국적선사 경쟁력 약화우려, 금융투자자의 '컨'터미널 운영으로 인한 항만운영과 투자 미비로 인한 운영상 문제점 발생 그리고 다수 '컨'터미널 운영사로 인한 타부두 이송비용(ITT) 추가 발생과 비효율적인 선석활용문제가 높게 인식되고 있다. 이러한 문제점을 해소하기 위한 부산항 '컨'터미널 재구성방안으로, 환적물동량 증대에는 글로벌 선사의 참여가 가장 영향력있는 방안으로 인식되고 그 다음으로 국적선사 자가 '컨'터미널 확보로 나타나고 있다. 항만효율성 제고효과에는 '컨'터미널 통합이 가장 영향력있는 방안이고 그 다음으로 글로벌 선사 참여방안과 BPA 단일운영체제방안으로 인식하고 있다. 국적선사 서비스 경쟁력 제고효과에는 국적선사자 가 '컨'터미널 확보방안이 가장 영향력있는 방안이고 그 다음으로 역시 글로벌 선사의 터미널 운영에 참여 방안으로 나타나고 있다. 항만공공성 제고효과에는 BPA 단일운영체제방안이 가장 영향력있는 방안이고 그 다음으로 글로벌 선사 참여방안으로 인식하고 있어 부산항 경쟁력 제고와 공공성 확보를 위해서는 글로벌 선사의 항만 참여를 정책적으로 고려할 필요가 있다. 글로벌 선사의 참여방안과 터미널 통합방안 그리고 BPA 단일 운영체제방안은 부산항 강점요인간의 상호작용효과로 환적화물 증대 매우 긍정적으로 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타나고 있으며, 항만효율성 제고에는 터미널 통합방안과 강점요인 간에 상호작용효과가 긍정적인 영향을 미치고 있다. 따라서, 부산항의 강점을 최대한도로 활용하여 환적화물을 증대시키기 위해서는 '컨'터미널 운영에 글로벌 선사를 참여시키고 선석활용을 극대화하기 위해서는 터미널을 통합하며 BPA 단일운영체제방안이 터미널 관리에 효율적인 것으로 시사하고 있다.
The positive and negative opinion to cargo demand of Incheon's SAMT in the near future remains cloudy. Considering port and shipping environmental changes and the logistics situation of China which explains the lack of facilities in Chinese airports, the creating of SAMT cargoes of the Incheon region could catches a favorable opportunity to be a logistics hub in the North-East Asia. On the other hand, as open-sky policy and direct-call service has been carried out between China and N.A.(North America), Incheon could cause a loss of competitiveness in SAMT because the enhancement in the aspect of the connectivity of Chinese airlines and shipping lines makes customer sent to last destination their cargoes whenever they want. In the same context, this paper analyses on conditions of domestic and international SAMT and proposes in this uncertainty future forecasting of SAMT of Incheon by scenario planning according to changes in integrated SAMT, measuring the likelihood of final scenario. This study shows the Sea & Air multi-transport volume will have either slight increase or decrease from the current condition. Consequently, RFS expansion and system & service improvement through strong ties with major cities in China will be required in a short run aspect. Nonetheless, we also need to take domestic & international transportation environment into account in the long run.
