        Level measurement of liquid radwaste is essential for inventory management of treatment system. Among various methods, level measurement based on differential pressure has many advantages. First, it is possible to measure the liquid level of the system regardless of liquid type. Second, as the instrument doesn’t need to be installed near the tank, there is no need to contact the tank when managing it. Therefore, workers’ radiation dose from the system can be decreased. Finally, although it depends on the accuracy, the price of the instrument is relatively low. With these advantages, in general, liquid radwaste level in a tank is measured using differential pressure in the treatment system. Not only the advantages described above, there are some disadvantages. As the liquid in the system is waste, it is not pure but has some suspended materials. These materials can be accumulated in tanks and pipes where the liquids move to come into direct contact with pneumatic pipes that are essential in differential pressure instruments. As a result, in case of a treatment using heat source, the accumulated materials may become sludge causing interference in pneumatic pipes. And this can change the pressure which also affects the level measured. In conclusion, in case of liquid storage tanks in which the situation cannot be checked, the proficiency of an operator becomes important.

        털부처꽃(Lythrum salicaria L.)은 전국에 분포하는 다년생 초본식물로 척박하고 습한 지역을 포함한 다양한 환경에서 잘 자라는 것으로 알려져 있다. 따라서 하천변, 척박지에서 정원 용, 화훼용 및 관상용 식물로 이용이 가능하다. 본 연구는 털 부처꽃의 적정 육묘 조건(토양종류, 플러그 트레이 셀 크기,파종립수, 액비농도 및 차광)을 조사하였다. 대조구(원예상토) 에서 재배된 유묘의 생육이 가장 우수하였다. 반면 피트모스 와 펄라이트의 혼합용토는 육묘기간이 지속되면서 생육수치 가 감소하는 경향을 나타냈다. 셀 크기는 용적이 가장 큰 162 셀에서 재배된 유묘의 생육이 우수하였으나, 200셀과 288셀에 서 자란 묘도 건강했다. 한편 유묘의 결주발생을 고려하면 셀 당 2립을 파종하는 것이 적합하였다. 액비 처리는 유묘의 생 육을 촉진하였다. 특히 Hyponex 1000배는 초장, 줄기직경, 엽수, 마디수, 근장, 지상부 생체중 및 지하부 생체중을 증가 시켰다. 또한 유묘의 생육은 55% 차광 하에서 우수하였다. 따 라서 털부처꽃의 가장 효과적인 생육조건은 원예상토가 충진 된 288셀 플러그 트레이에 셀 당 2립을 파종하고 Hyponex 1000배를 시비하면서 55% 차광 하에서 재배하는 것이었다.

        The mechanical safety of the container designed according to the IP-2 type technology standard was analyzed for the temporary storage and transportation of Very-Low-Level-Waste (VLLW) for liquid occurring at the nuclear facilities decommissioning site. The container was designed and manufactured as a composite shielding container with the effect of storing and shielding liquid radioactive waste using High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) and eco-friendly shielding material (BaSO4) with corrosion and chemical resistance. The main material of the composite shielding container is HDPE and BaSO4, the material of the cover, cage and pallet is SUS304, and the angle guard is elastic rubber. The test and analysis requirements were analyzed for structural analysis of container drop and lamination test. As test requirements for IP-2 type transport containers should be verified by performing drop and lamination tests. There should be no loss or dispersion of contents through the 1.2 m high free-fall drop and lamination test for a load five times the amount of transported material. ABAQUS/Explicit, a commercial finite element analysis program, was used for structural analysis of the drop and lamination test of the transport and storage container. (Drop test) It was confirmed that the container was most affected when it falls from a 45-degree slope. Although plastic deformation was observed at the edge axis of the cover, it was evaluated that the range of plastic deformation was limited to the cover and cage, and stress within the elastic limit occurred in the inner container. In the analysis results for other falling direction conditions, it was evaluated that stress within the elastic limit was generated in the inner container except for minor plastic deformation. In the case of on-site simulation evaluation, deformation of the inner container and frame due to the drop impact occurred, but leakage and loss of contents, which are major evaluation indicators, did not occur. (Lamination test) The maximum stress was calculated to be 19.9 MPa under the lamination condition for a load 5 times the container weight, and the maximum stress point appeared at the corner axis of the pallet. The calculated value for the maximum stress is about 10%, assuming the conservative yield strength of SUS304 is 200 MPa. It was evaluated that stress within the limit occurred. In the case of on-site simulation evaluation, it was confirmed that there was no container deformation or loss of contents due to the load.

        The structural safety of prototype transport and storage containers for very low-level radioactive liquid waste was experimentally estimated for its localization development. Transport containers for radioactive liquid waste have been researched and developed, however, there are no standardized commercial containers for very low-level radioactive waste in Korea. In this study, the structural safety of the designated IP-2 type container capable of transporting and temporarily storing large amounts of very low-level liquid waste, which is generated during the operation and decommissioning of nuclear power plants, was demonstrated. The stacking and drop tests, which were conducted to determine the structural integrity of the container, verified that there was no external leakage of the contents in spite of its structural deformation due to the drop impact. This study shows the effort required for the localization of the technology used in manufacturing transport and storage containers for very low-level radioactive liquid waste, and the additional structural reinforcement of the container in which the commercial intermediate bulk container (IBC) external frame was coupled.

        When there is a significant stripping in asphalt pavement, it is common practice to use a hydrated lime (HL) as an anti-stripping additive (ASA). However, since many asphalt plants do not have facilities for weighing and casting HL, they prefer to use of a liquid-type ASA (LA). Therefore, various brands of LAs which show proper anti-stripping function are currently developed, imported, and marketed in Korea. In addition to the anti-stripping effect, the HL has been known to give a significant age-retarding effect on paved asphalt in the field. Therefore, there was a question about whether or not the LA provides the same anti-aging effect as The HL. This study investigated anti-aging effect of the asphalt mixes which were prepared using both ASAs and short-term aged and long-term aged in the laboratory. The absolute viscosity was measured as an aging index from the binder recovered from the mixes after short-term aging (STA) and long-term aging (LTA) processes. The results showed that there was a significant higher aging found from the LA-added mix than the normal mix without any ASA. On the other hands, the mix with HL showed significantly lower ageing level than the LA-added mix and normal mix. The retardation of age-hardening by using HL was more effectively observed when the STA condition was stronger.

        A dynamic tube pressure method was proposed for a liquid level measurement. The reliability of our in-house manufactured prototype level measurement system was investigated for water samples in a vial as a preliminary study. The prototype instrument, equipped with a stepper motor and a differential pressure sensor, was used to measure the travel distance of the tube from an initial zero position to the liquid surface. Unlike a conventional bubbler method, our dynamic tube pressure method is based on the abrupt changes in the tube pressure to directly detect the liquid surface. Optimum conditions were determined from the measurements of the travel distance with different-sized tubes at various ambient base pressures and various descending tube speeds. In addition, we proposed a gravimetric calibration method. In the gravimetric calibration method, the travel distances are used instead of the liquid level, which can be obtained from the measurement data of the travel distance. The travel distance versus the weight calibration curve showed a good linear relationship (R2 = 0.9999), and standard deviations of the travel distance over the whole range of experimental conditions were less than 0.1 mm. In a further study, our present system will also be used in the measurement of density and surface tension by minimizing the contact time with high-temperature and highly-corrosive molten salts.

        오늘날 경제의 발전과 함께 여러 가지 환경 문제가 발생했다. 자연스레 사람들은 환경에 대한 관심이 높아졌으며 특히 식수에 대한 안전성과 오염도 조사에 대한 중요성이 부각되고 있다. 우리나라 국민들이 식수로 이용하는 지하수에서 우라늄 및 222Rn 이 다수 지역에서 검출되고 있다. 따라서 이 연구는 지하수 내 포함된 222Rn 농도를 측정하는데 보다 정확한 측정을 위한 방법을 알아보고자 한다. 실험은 알파, 베타 펄스의 분석이 용이한 펄스파형분석 기능을 가진 저 준위 액체섬광계수기를 이용하여 실험하였다. 지하수 시료와 혼합하는 섬광체의 조제, 유효기간은 시간이 지날수록 검출값은 낮아지고, 에너지 스펙트럼도 낮은 쪽으로 channel 이동이 있었다. 섬광체의 구입시기가 오래 될수록, 개봉한 후 방치시간이 지날수록 검출값이 낮아짐을 확인했다. 사용목적이 다른 섬광체를 사용했을 경우 channel 이동으로 에너지를 확인할 수 있다.
