The genus Hypsopygia was established by Hübner, 1825, with type species Phalaena costalis Fabricius, 1775. Hypsopygia is characterized by the elongated uncus and valva, and pointed saccus in the male genitalia. It consists of 105 described species (Nuss et al., 2003–2024) in the world, and 11 species have been recorded in Korea (Kim & Paek, 2020; Shin et al., 2023). In this study, we reported one newly recorded species in Korea. Illustrations of adults provided, with information of host plants of all examined species.
The family Pyralidae comprises over 6,000 species, and is composed of five subfamilies. Among those, the subfamily Phycitinae includes 3 genera, Addyme Walker, 1863, Calguia Walker, 1863, and Coleothrix Ragonot, 1888, with more than 3,300 species worldwide. However, several species of the genera have been erroneously stated and identified due to confusions caused by high morphological similarities. Therefore, we correct those errors through re-examinations of most of the type specimens, along with a diagnosis and table exhibiting the history of those genera. Additionally, we introduce two misidentified Korean pyralids belonging to the genus Addyme.
The subfamily Epipaschiinae belongs to the family Pyralidae in the superfamily Pyraloidea. Moths of the epipaschiine are mostly medium-sized, and around 705 species have been described worldwide, with most of them distributed in Tropical and Temperate Regions (Nuss et al., 2023). In this study, 24 species of 10 genera of the subfamily Epipaschiinae are identified. All of the species are accompanied by distributions, host plants, and collection site information. Illustrations of adults, male and female genitalia are provided.
솔알락명나방(Dioryctria abietella)의 유충은 잣나무 구과를 가해 하는데, 피해를 심하게 받은 구과 종자의 손실량은 20.3%이며, 잣나무에서 구과피해율이 평균 25.7%에 달하여(이성찬, 2014), 잣 생산에 막대한 영향을 미치고 있다. 잣나무에서 페로몬 트랩의 설치 높이에 따른 솔알락명나방의 유인 효과 조사를 위하여 고가작업차 를 이용하여 잣나무림 지상부, 수관하부, 수관중부, 수관상부에 페로몬 트랩을 설치하였다. 페로몬은 케이아이 피에서 구입 하여 사용하였으며 트랩은 델타트랩을 설치하였다. 4월 26일에 최초 설치를 시작하여 기상상황에 맞게 10~15일 간격으로 수거하여 유인된 개체수를 조사하였다. 5월 초순에 4개 개체가 채집되기 시작하였으며, 6월 하순에 136개체가 채집되어 최대 밀도가 채집되었으며, 이후 점차 밀도가 감소하다가 8월 부터 밀도가 다시 증가하였다가 8월 중순 이후부터 다소 감소하기 시작하였다. 6월 초순에는 채집개체가 전혀 없었는데 이는 5월 하순부터 잣나무 송화가루가 날리면서 끈끈이트랩을 오염시켜 끈끈이트랩의 접착력이 떨어진 것에 기인한 것 으로 판단되었다. 수고별 솔알락명나방 페로몬 트랩 유인효과는 채집된 개체의 99.0%가 수관 상부에서 채집되 었으며, 2개체만이 수관중부에서 채집되었다. 수관하부와 지상에 설치된 트랩에서는 전혀 채집이 되지 않아 페로몬 트랩의 설치 높이에 따라 유인 효과가 매우 다른 것으로 나타났다.
Two new species, Stericta jaeshini Kim & Bae, sp. nov. and S. atroaurantiaca Kim & Bae, sp. nov. are described from Laos and Cambodia. About 50 species of the genus Stericta have been recorded from Southeast Asia, but it has not been recorded to occur in Laos and Cambodia previously. We record the presence of this genus in these two countries for the first time in this study. Illustrations of adults and genitalia of examined species are provided.
In the genus Acrobasis Zeller, 1839, there are 14 species known in Korea. In this study, we present Acrobasis rubrizonella (Ragonot, 1893) and Acrobasis subceltifoliella Yamanaka, 2006 from Korea for the first time. We hear provide diagnoses, descriptions, and images of the adults and genitalia of the two species.
콩명나방(Maruca vitrata)은 열대ꞏ아열대성 해충으로 콩의 주요 해충으로 알려져 있으나 국내에서는 팥에서 피해가 큰 해충이다. 콩명나방의 유충에 콩과작물인 콩(대두, 소청자, 풍산나물콩), 팥(홍언), 동부(장채)와 인공사료를 각각 먹이로 제공하여 콩명나방의 발육상을 조사하였다. 조사결과 인공사료를 먹이로 제공한 콩명나방 유충의 용화율과 우화율이 가장 높았고 다음으로 팥과 풍산나물콩을 먹이로 제공했을 때 용화율과 우화율이 높았다. 장채의 경우 유충이 한 마리도 용화하지 못했다. 콩명나방 유충이 용화까지 걸리는 기간은 인공사료를 먹이로 제공했을 때 가장 짧았고 다음으로 팥과 풍산나물콩을 먹이로 제공했을 때 짧았다. 용의 무게 또한 인공사료를 먹이로 제공했을 때 가장 높았고 다음으로 팥과 풍산나물콩을 먹이로 제공했을 때 높았다. 실험결과 팥 이외에 콩과작물에서도 유충이 성충까지 우화할 수 있음을 확인하였다.
Maruca vitrata is one of the destructive pests of tropical legumes. Radiofrequency dependent development and adult performances of M. vitrata were examined at five radiofrequencies of 0 (control), 5, 10, 20, and 30 kHz on artificial diet. The results showed that radiofrequency have significant effects on the life variables of M. vitrata. Radiofrequency exposures on pod borer impacted on life-variables of M. vitrata and negative effects were also transmitted to the successive generations. The adults of M. vitrata were emerged with shorter longevity in case of radio-frequency treatment than untreated. Decreasing the radiofrequency level further reduced the longevity of adults. The shortest adult longevity was recorded for 5 kHz. Radiofrequency treatments have also affected on the adult performance such as weight of adult. The outcomes of this study are discussed in terms of an alternative to chemical treatments.
Prediction of the seasonal occurrence and potential distribution of agricultural pests has accomplished by software toolsimplementing species distribution models (SDMs). In this aspect, we used CLIMEX software to evaluate the seasonaloccurrence and potential distribution of Indian meal moth, Plodia interpunctella (Hübner), which is one of household mothsdamaging dried fruits in pantries. Based on the simulation, the beginning of period for suitable climate was predictedto be from mid-March to end-March, while it might be end in late October to early November. The peak time for P.interpunctella was ranged from early or mid-July to mid-August, but depended on local geography. When applying RCP8.5 climate change scenario, it was predicted that P. interpunctella would not occur due to intensive rainfall in July andAugust in 2060.
