        Temperature is a crucial environmental factor for rice cultivation due to the climate change and can influence the rice growth and development. Therefore, the effect of temperature on plant growth characters was examined during the vegetative growth stage. Plants were grown under three different temperatures: 23°C/13°C for 18°C, 26°C/16°C for 21°C and 29°C/19°C for 24°C in the phytotron. The temperature was treated after transplanting and ended in early panicle initiation stage. Heading date of the two varieties were strongly affected by the temperature and were delayed in the 18°C. The plant height in the 18°C was 21 % shorter than the 21°C and 24°C and the tiller and leaf number were increased in the 18°C. All the growth rates of the characters were the slowest in 18°C. The stem dry weight was significantly increased in 18°C. Nitrogen content was increased in the leaves of 18°C whereas available phosphate and potassium contents was found to be increased in the stems of 21°C and 24°C. OsNRT2.1 was overexpressed in the leaves and stems of 18°C and OsNRT2.3a could be expressed in 18°C and 21°C temperatures whereas more expressed in 21°C. OsPT1 and OsPT6 could be expressed in the leaf of 18°C and 24°C but could be expressed more in the stem of 18°C. OsHAK1 and OsHAK5 could be overexpressed in the leaves and stems of 18°C. For hormone, OsCKX2 gene was found to be up regulated in the leaves of 18°C and OsIAA1 gene could expressed more in the stem of 24°C.

        본 실험은 정식 후 단일처리전 장일처리 기간에 따른 온실재배 스프레이 절화국 (cv. Reagan Improved)의 생육 및 건물생산에 미치는 영향을 구명하기 위하여 네덜란드 Wageningen 대학의 유리온실 실험포에서 수행하였다. 정식에서 개화기까지 3주 장일처리구에서는 84일이었고, 2주 처리구에서는 77일, 1주 처리구에서는 70일,단일처리 후에 최종수확일까지는 63일이 소요되었다. 정식 후 초장 생장량은 3주 장일처리구에서 가장 높았고, 1주 장일처리구에서 가장 낮았다. 또한 정식 후 최종 엽수, 엽면적 확보량 및 엽생체중과 총식물생체중은 3주 장일처리구에서 높고, 1주 장일처리구에서 낮은 결과를 나타내었다. 반면.단일처리 후 절대생장율에 있어서 엽전개속도와 초장생장속도는 모든 처리구에서 동일한 반응을 보였다. 최종건물생산량 (g.m-2 )은 3주 장일처리구에서 높고, 1주 장일처리구에서 가장 낮게 나타났다. 초장과 생체중은 장일 조건이 길수록 높게 나타났으며,누적 건물중도 3주 장일처리구에서 가장 높은 결과를 나타냈다.

        Water deficit is the primary constraint of soybean [Glycine max (L.) Merr.] yield, and a physiological understanding of processes affected by water deficit is a key step in identifying and improving drought tolerance in soybean. The objectives of this research were to evaluate biomass and nitrogen accumulation patterns and water use efficiency (WUE) as possible mechanisms associated with the drought tolerance of Jackson. Biomass accumulation of Jackson was contrasted with the PI416937, which also has demonstrated tolerance to drought. For water-deficit treatment, total biomass accumulation was negligible for PI416937, but biomass accumulation continued at approximately 64 % of the well-watered treatment of Jackson. Transpirational losses for Jackson and PI416937 were approximately the same for the water-deficit treatment, indicating that Jackson had superior WUE. Isotopic discrimination of 13 C relative to 12 C also indicated that Jackson had higher WUE. Results indicated that increased WUE for Jackson under water deficit showed it was tolerant to drought rather than had an avoidance mechanism.

        Leaf area is critical for crop light interception, and thereby has a substantial influence on crop yield. This experiment was conducted to characterize the development of soybean [Glycine max (L.) Merr.] leaf area. Plastochron index and leaf relative growth rate of Jackson was contrasted with the PI416937, which also has demonstrated tolerance to drought. First, plastochron ratio (PR) and plastochron index (PI) were evaluated in greenhouse to compare the leaf growth rate between two genotypes under well-watered condition. There was reasonable constancy of PR between two genotypes. The PR means of Jackson and PI416937 were 0.41 and 0.44, respectively. A fairly smooth increase of PI during vegetative stage was observed. Second, the relative growth rates were graphed against leaf area, normalized with respect to final leaf area, under well-watered and water-deficit conditions. Leaf growth was sustained longer in well-watered condition than water-deficit condition and there was a sizable proportion of leaves which was ceased earlier their growth in water-deficit condition compared to well-watered condition. The leaf relative growth rate of Jackson until leaves had completed at 45% of their growth during water deficit period was higher than that of PI416937.

        검정콩 1호를 공시품종으로 하여 콩의 영양생장기에 15일간 습해처리하고 그에 따른 엽생장 및 지하부의 생리적 반응을 조사한 결과는 다음과 같다. 1. 습해처리기간중 근류는 심토층에서부터 사멸되기 시작하였으며 습해기간이 7일 이상 지속될 경우 전체 근류의 35%이상이 사멸되었다. 2. 습해를 받으면 근류의 Bacteroid층이 균열되기 시작하였으며 습해기간이 지속될 경우 균열 양상은 더욱 심화되었다. 3. 습해기간중 토심 5cm이하에 분포한 뿌리활력은 무처리에 비해 크게 감소하였으며 표토층에 분포한 뿌리는 큰 변화가 없었다. 4. 7일간의 습해처리로 주근의 외피조직 및 유관속조직의 분리현상과 일부 파괴현상이 관찰되었다. 5. 습해처리 기간 중의 엽면적 생장은 정상식물체의 엽면적 생장의 절반에 불과하였다.
