본 연구의 목적은 도시 맥락적 관점에서 공연공간이 갖는 공공적 특성을 고찰하고 분석함으로써 추후 공연공간을 계획함에 공공성 구현을 위한 기초자료 역할과 방향을 제시하고 자 하였다. 문헌 고찰 및 선행연구, 사례조사를 통해 건축적 공공성 분석을 통해 공연공간의 공공성 분석항목을 도출하고, 도출된 공공성 요소를 토대로 사례별 공연공간의 공공적 특성을 분석하였다. 연구결과 현대사회의 변화에 따라 공연공간의 기능과 역할이 확대되고 다양해지고 있으며, 공연장을 지역 이나 도시의 커뮤니티 시설로 개방하려는 시도가 많아지고 있다는 것을 알 수 있었다. 그리고 상 업 및 편의시설 등, 다른 기능과 복합하여 이용자나 시민들에게 개방하여 접근이 쉬운 공간으로 변화하고 있음을 알 수 있었다. 본 연구를 종합해 보면 앞으로 국내의 도심 공연공간을 계획할 때 고려 요소로써 시설의 기능 다변화와 도시적 관계에 대한 고려가 중요하게 고려되어야 하겠다. 추후 연구에서는 범위를 확대하여 광범위한 국내외 사례분석과 다양한 관점에 따른 공간 분석을 통해 더 깊이 있는 연구가 필요하다고 판단된다.

The purpose of this study is to examine and analyze the architectural publicity characteristics of performing arts center in terms of urban context, and to present the role and direction of basic data as a planning element for realizing publicity in planning performing arts center in the future. Through literature review, prior research, and case studies, public analysis items of performing arts center was derived through architectural publicity analysis, and public characteristics of performing arts center was analyzed based on the derived publicity factors. As a result of the study, it was found that the functions of performing arts centers are expanding and diversifying according to changes in modern society, and more attempts are being made to accept and open space as community facilities in cities and regions. In addition, it can be seen that it is transforming into a facility that is open to users and citizens in combination with other functions such as commercial and convenience facilities, making it easy to access. The results of the case study show that, it is important to consider the diversification of functions of facilities and urban relations as factors to consider when planning urban performing arts center in Korea in the future. Future research is expected to expand the scope and conduct more in-depth research through extensive case analysis and spatial analysis according to various contexts.
