The puφose of this study was to evaluate the role of EGF(Epidermal Growth Factor), EGFR(Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor), aFGF(acidic Fibroblast Growth Factor or FGF-1), bFGF(basic Fibroblast Growth Factor or FGF-2), FGFR(Fibroblast Growth Faαor Receptor), and VEGF(Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor) in the development of the human ameloblastomas For this study 9 subjects, diagnosed as ameloblastomas referred to the Dept. of Oral Path. College of Dentistry, Kyung Hee University, 2 subjeαs of normal oral mucosa with any inflammatory changes were used as experimental, control groups respectively. All the tissues ; experimental and control group were fixed in 10% neutral formalin solution and embedded in paraffm, serial tissue section were made 하1m in thickness and processed in the standard way for immunohistochemical method, using primary and secondary antibodies, for EGF(Antirabbit Ig G, rabbit kit at }:1oo dilution), EGFR(Antimouse Ig G, mouse kit at 1:100 dilution), aFGF(Antirabbit Ig G, rabbit kit at 1:100 dilution), bFGF(Antirabbit Ig G, rabbit kit at 1:100 dilution), FGFR(Antimouse Ig G, mouse kit at 1:100 dilution) , and VEGF(Antirabbit Ig G, rabbit kit at 1:100 dilution), all BioGenex U.S. A. made, followed by the Streptavidin - Horse Radish Peroxidase(InnoGenex, Human-avidin kit) appli때on , counter stained with Mayer’s hematoxylin stain method. And examined under the biologic microscope, graded -(no epithelial stain), +(weak or focal epithelial stain), ++(moderate or focal intensive epithelial stain), +++(intense generalized epithelial staining) for the epithelial, and connective 따sue component in ameloblastomas and in normal mucosal epithelium on each. Attained results as follows ; 1. EGF, EGFR, aFGF, bFGF, FGFR, and VEGF showed more intense stainability on experimental group compare t,。 that on the control group. 2. EGF, EGFR, aFGF, bFGF, FGFR, and VEGF showed more intense stainability in epithelial component and more intensely stained on the peripheral ce11s of the ameloblastomas. 3. EGF, EGFR, aFGF, bFGF, FGFR, and VEGF showed positive stainability on the stromal tissues but its level is lower compare to that on the epithelial components. Those results suggested that those growth factors take a role in development and progression on the amelob비las와tomas
As long as convicted prisoner is a citizen of the nation, his/her fundamental human rights must be guaranteed to the maximum extent in accordance with the constitutional spirit within the range of not becoming a barrier to accomplish a legitimate penological purpose. When we put too much emphasis on protection of human rights of prisoners insomuch as to disturb and violate the correctional order and regulations, however, it would not only cause life and physical safety of both prisoner and correctional officer to be threatened but to make eligible prisoners unable to return to society through correctional and reformative activities, which are basic and valid penological objectives, and also correctional institute unable to detain an offender in custody that is a premise of imprisonment. Therefore, it is required to accomplish the ultimate penological goals so much as to make convict return to society, while the state should guarantee human rights of prisoners, and, at the same time, firmly establish correctional orders. But there are contradictory relationships between protection of convict rights and establishment of correctional orders, so that problems have risen in due course from the perspective of how to achieve harmonization between the two. Then, it would not be too much to say that to maintain discipline and order in correctional institution up to an appropriate level is the most basic premise for penological practices. In this sense, it can be said that to establish correctional orders in a firm manner is essential for penological practices. If discipline and order is exceedingly strict in observance, however, convict will merely become an object to be controlled, thus that it would be not only difficult to achieve certain expected effects of correctional goals but to bring about worries to infringe human rights because of unwanted limitation of fundamental rights of individuals. So then, it is thought that to set up balanced relations between human rights protection and establishment of correctional order by harmonizing tensive relationships in between is an important task in contemporary correctional practices. In any case, limitation of fundamental human rights of convict, however, should not cross boundary that has been set in order to maintain an orderly prison life having secured physical custody of convict.

Human embryonic stem (ES) cells are derived from the inner cell mass of the preimplantation embryo. Human ES cells have the capacity to differentiate into various types of cells in the body. Human ES cells are indefinite source of cells for cell therapy in various degenerative disorders including neuronal disorders. Directed differentiation of human ES cells is a prerequisite for their clinical application. The objective of this study is to develop the culture condition for the derivation of neural precursor cells from human ES cells. Neural precursor cells were derived from human ES cells in a stepwise culture condition. Neural precursor cells in the form of neural rosette structures developed into neurospheres when cultured in suspension. Suspension culture of neurospheres has been maintained over 4 months. Expressions of nestin, soxl, sox2, pax3 and pax6 transcripts were upregulated during differentiation into neural precursor cells by RT-PCR analysis. In contrast, expression of oct4 was dramatically downregulated in neural precursor cells. Immunocytochemical analyses of neural precursor cells demonstrated expression of nestin and SOX1. When induced to differentiate on an adhesive substrate, neuro-spheres were able to differentiate into three lineages of neural systems, including neurons, astrocytes and oligo-dendrocytes. Transcripts of sox1 and pax6 were downregulated during differentiation of neural precursor cells into neurons. In contrast, expression of map2ab was elevated in the differentiated cells, relative to those in neural precursor cells. Neurons derived from neural precursor cells expressed NCAM, Tuj1, MAP2ab, NeuN and NF200 in immunocytochemical analyses. Presence of astrocytes was confirmed by expression of GFAP immuno-cytochemically. Oligodendrocytes were also observed by positive immuno-reactivities against oligodendrocyte marker O1. Results of this study demonstrate that a stepwise culture condition is developed for the derivation of neural precursor cells from human ES cells.
