The aim of this study was to evaluate the basic data of Cirsium setidens Nakai fine powder (FPC), which will then be used in the development of functional fooditems. We measures and evaluated the level of pectolinarin content, phenol content, flavonoids content, antioxidants and anti-obesity properties of FPC. Our results from the study showed that the pectolinarin, phenol, and flavonoids contents of FPC measured at 10.95±0.15 mg/g, 12.92±0.18 mg gallic acid equivalent (GAE)/g and 26.47±0.77 mg rutin equivalent (RE)/g, respectively. The exhibited antioxidant activity of FPC increased significantly depending on the dosage, and additionally. FPC did not show any cytotoxicity up to the dosage level of 500 μg/mL. During adipocyte differentiation, FPC significantly inhibited ROS production and lipid accumulation, compared with the control substance. These results suggest that FPC could be considered a promising resource of natural antioxidants and could serve a variety of health-improving roles in the production of functional food ingredients.

The primary purpose of this study is to examine empirically the effect of the organizational characteristics in the vessel with foreign crews on their self-efficacy and organization commitment. Currently, the restrictions on the employment of the foreign crews are being eased in the Korean shipping industry and many problems are occurring consequently. However, specific and empirical studies on the relevancy of organizational characteristics to the crew's self-efficacy and organizational commitment on board the vessels with combined crews have not yet been carried out. To solve these problems, we examined how the organizational characteristics such as communication and leadership trust of different language and culture related to vessels with combined crews influence on the self-efficacy, job satisfaction and organizational commitment of the foreign crews through SEM analysis. According to the results, hypothesis 1, 2 and 3 were all supported with statistical significance. That means that communication and leadership trust of the vessel with foreign crew had positive effects on their self-efficacy and that such self-efficacy also had a positive effect on the organizational commitment and job satisfaction. To conclude, this study suggests that foreign crew's self-efficacy should be firstly enhanced in order to improve organizational commitment on the vessel with combined crews. Furthermore, studies on self-efficacy of foreign crew's organization are urgently needed to enhance the effectiveness of an organization in a vessel with combined crews that has special environment - working environment with depression and uneasiness due to the exposure to the different language and culture, and excessive stress from the social and psychological adaptation. Therefore, an attempt of this study is considered to be timely since there has not been a study on this subject so far and result of this study will contribute a lot to the organization management of a vessel with combined crews.

The purpose of this paper is to study a relationship between alliance success factors and performances of strategic alliance. In order to achieve the purpose of this research, factor analysis, reliability and validity and regression method are used. In conclusion, alliance success factors can be divided as mutual complementarity and information sharing factor, sharing and mutual agreement of vision and goal factor, performance management factor and culture and organization factor. According to regression results, all of four factors affects significantly dependent variables. Among them, mutual complementarity and information sharing mostly affects each dependent variable.

This paper aims to understand and analyze the mega-trends such as trends towards larger vessels due to an increasing trade volume, accordingly fewer port calls, strategic alliances and M&A Increasing degree of concentration through M&A activities in shipping industry results in a decreasing number of shipping finns with an increasing share in the world shipping capacity. But competition is strongly increasing on main trunk routes. Therefore, shipping concentration directly leads to further concentration of port traffic in fewer and larger ports with an increasing competition among neighboring ports.
