        Al2O3 sol with long-term stability was prepared by mechanical milling. Thin films were evaluated and created for use as coating materials. The particle size of the manufactured sol was 98 nm when 2 wt% of nitric acid was added. This indicates that the viscosity of the sol is 12 cps and that it has long-term stability. The thickness of the thin films, which varied from 100 nm to 500 nm, could be managed by adjusting the draw rate and the amount of an organic additive. A thin film heated to 500˚C indicated a hydrophilic property against water and excellent permeability against a visible ray.

        Effect The effect of sintering additives (SiO2, Al2O3, Clay) on the mechanical characteristics of sintered zircon was investigated. 1 vol% of additives in zircon powder was was sintered at 120~1500˚C, the mechanical characteristics were measured, and microstructure analysis were was conducted. Al2O3 and clay additions increase the formation of monoclinic and tetragonal-ZrO2 formation. An addition of SiO2 addition suppressed the formation of tetragonal-ZrO2 formation., The A specimen sintered at 1400˚C showed the a density of 4.05 g/cm3 and the a microhardness of 1120 HV, respectively.

        A ZrO2 coating solution containing ZrO2 photo-catalysis, which is transparent in visible light, was prepared by the hydrolysis of alkoxide, and thin films on the SiO2 glass substrate were formed in a dipcoating method. These thin films were heat-treated at temperatures ranging from 250˚C-800˚C and their characteristics were subjected to thermal analysis, XRD, spectrometry, SEM, EDS, contact angle measurement, and AFM. Tetragonal ZrO2 phase was found in the thin film heat treated at 450˚C, and anatase TiO2 phase was detected in the thin film heat-treated at 600˚C and above. The thickness of the films was approximately 300 nm, and the roughness was 0.66 nm. Thus, the film properties are excellent. The films are super hydrophilic with a contact angle of 4.0˚; moreover, they have self-cleaning effect due to the photo catalytic property of anatase TiO2.

        고온용 세라믹 쉘 몰드를 용융 알루미나와 콜로이달 실리카를 사용하여 제조한 후, 세라믹 쉘 몰드의 강도에 영향을 주는 요인을 분석하였다. 세라믹 쉘 몰드의 강도는 바인더의 실리카 입자의 크기가 작을수록 크며 또한 실리카 농도에 비례하여 증가함을 보이며 저온에서의 강도 발현은 콜로이달 실리카의 필름 형성에 의한 입자들의 결합임을 알 수 있었다. 세라믹 쉘 몰드의 소성 강도는 부착 스타코의 크기가 작을수록 크며 소성 온도에 비례하여 증가함을 보였다. 고온에서의 강도 발현은 알루미나 입자와 콜로이달 실리카 바인더의 결합뿐만 아니라 알루미나 입자사이의 결합도 영향을 줌을 알 수 있었다. 쉘 몰드의 결정상은 1300˚C이하에서 소성한 경우 α-알루미나만 존재함을 보여 실리카는 비정질로 계속 남아 있음을 알 수 있고 1400˚C 이상에서 소성한 경우 뮬라이트가 생성됨을 보였다.
